Situated on the picturesque sunny hillside of Varenna in a family friendly Residence this duplex apartment (ID 372) offers spacious and high quality self-catering accommodation for your stay on Lake Como.

A light and well positioned Living room with comfortable sofa and direct lake and mountain views offers a lovely place to relax with a book and a large fully fitted kitchen diner with access onto a private sunny balcony offers a wonderful entertaining space for you and your guests to enjoy, from the daytime and well into the evening!

The balcony provides a dining table and chairs and boasts wonderful panoramic lake views towards the west coast. It is well positioned also to enjoy the most of the radiant afternoon sunshine.

A flight of wooden stairs lead from the kitchen diner to the sleeping accommodation on the upper floor which comprises a spacious Master Double bedroom with sloping chalet style ceiling and ample wardrobe space, and a second spacious and well lit Twin single bedroom with two separate beds ideal for guests.

A modern bathroom with all the desired sanitary ware as well as a useful washing machine is also provided.

The Residence complex offers a wonderful Lake view Swimming pool for you to enjoy as well as resident parking spaces.

Please note that anyone who wishes to use the communal pool must wear a swimming cap.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area region

The Italian Lakes are a little slice of paradise. Elegant ribbons of blue water stretch out ahead, folded into the sun-baked foothills, with a spectacular back drop of the snow-capped Alps.

Lake Como offers hidden treasures just waiting for the visitor to discover them: charming corners forgotten by time, lakeside villages where nothing seems to have changed for centuries.

It is steeped in history with an immense collection of churches, architectural masterpieces and works of art covering the centuries. The lake is situated in a basin surrounded by wooded mountains, and offers an extremely varied landscape, with its' shores featuring a succession of pastures, and woods as well as harsh and impressive rock formations.

All this alongside elegant, lakeside villas with sub-tropical gardens, which provide a haven of peace and tranquillity and chic resorts such as Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio and Como itself.

Warming, in spriing and graced with natural beauty, the lakes are still a place to draw breath and wonder. Lake Como, oriented north-south, ringed by characterful old villages often wedged onto narrow beaches between rugged cliffs and water. Those classic lake images of flower strewn balconies, Baroque gardens and splendid waterside villas can be found here in abundance. Dotted around and between the lakes are some of Italy's finest art cities, such as Milan, Verona & Bergamo.

The most romantic and picturesque villages on the lake are Santa Maria Rezzonico, Varenna (15 min by ferry) & Bellagio (8 min by ferry), Lenno (visit Villa Balbianello, location for 007's Casino Royale as well as Villa Gaeta, right here in Menaggio) & Laglio (where George Clooney owns Villa Oleandra).

The Varenna / Perledo area

The centre of the picturesque resort town of Varenna is easily accessible by car and offers visitors with a choice of lake view cafes, many fine Villas and the famous and historical Castello di Vezio; which is situated on the Varenna hillside and which features frequent Falconry displays and medieval re-enactments during the Summer-Autumn time.

A picturesque lakeside promenade leads visitors to the romantic and ancient centre of Varenna which features medieval passageways, cobbled Piazzas and ancient Churches. Also there are many delightful restaurants and wine bars to enjoy as well as boutique craft and clothes shops.

From Varenna a frequent car and passenger ferry service operates taking visitors to the other ‘Golden triangle’ towns of Bellagio and Menaggio.

It is advised that guests staying hire a car for the duration of their stay, to allow for ease of movement from the hillside location into Varenna and further afield if desired.

This old fishing village has several very interesting shops; from local butchers to craft shops and bars, as well as many restaurants ranging from simple but fabulous pizzerias and trattorias, to elegant dining experiences with lake views. Varenna offers excellent rail links to Milan & Venice! Plus there are ferry links to all the gorgeous villages & towns along Lake Como's shores; it makes a great base for exploring the area.

Skiing in the area is bountiful with resorts such as Madesimo 1.15 hours to the north and the local ski resorts of Piani di Bobbio & Pien della Betulla are only 40 - 50 minutes away. And for an exciting day trip any time of year, why not go on the beautiful drive, through the Alps, to the international jet-set resort of St. Moritz, only 1.5 hours by car.

Making a Booking:

To make a confirmed booking, you will be asked to fill in our online booking form and pay a 30% deposit by wire transfer or credit card. The remaining holiday balance will then be due 6 weeks before arrival.
