on the main square of Varenna!
Walkig distance fom train station and ferry boat harbour, only meters from the promenade on the lake, the cafes and shops!
4 very nice rooms: one extrordinary big double en suite, one single and two double bedrooms with 2 stylish bathrooms and one loo. On the ground floor there is a cosy lounge where you can relax in front of the fire.
Our luxury villa is and ideal for 2 families to share,or groups of friends!
It has everything required for that perfect holiday.
Included are all bed linen and towels, a high chair and cot.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area

Varenna is located in Lake Como area (Lombardy, not Emilia Romagna). Our summers are wonderful with a pleasant breeze. July is the hottest month ( 26 / 30 C) , Springtime starts in March.

Winters are bright with lots of sun shine and nearly no rain but chilly, it may snow, but snow vanishes shortly near the lake and stays on the mountain tops. Lake Como has been an important through way for people coming and going north, pre-romanic churches, medieval castles and ... look out towers are still to been seen.

Varenna area

Varenna lies exactly halfway down the eastern shore of the lake on the Lecco branch. It was built on a rock prominently overshadowed by a steep mountain, at the top of which you can make out the outline of an old castle.

Varenna is an unusual and beautiful place: on the one hand, it is a lively and modern tourist resort, the centre for all lake ferries, and on the other it preserves the remains of a medieval past which is one of the best conserved in the area. Lovely and medieval Varenna is a charming town on the less trafficky side of the lake and it offers great views, beauty and relaxation.

A beautiful thing to do is to walk the lake front promenade – it’s an ever-changing, flowery and romantic walk – called "Passarella". The Passarella connects the town centre to the ferry boat harbour. Along the walk you’ll pass villas, gardens and boats.

The harbour is a typical past times fishermen resort with pastel coloured fishermen’s houses and a small beach.

Head up the hill to Piazza San Giorgio the main square in town. There are several churches on the square including the Chiesa Di San Giorgio with its belfry. Inside you’ll find a polyptych of San Giorgio (saint) by Giovan Pietro Brentani - Saint Giorgio, the Virgin and Saint Peter, a polyptych by Sigismondo de Magistris (Baptism of Christ) and a carved altarpiece . Varenna also has a castle that dates to 1300 – the Castello Di Vezio. The castle is located on a hill above the village. Once at the top, check out your view of Lake Como! There are gardens, a falconer , a drawbridge, a tower and there’s a small café up here too!

There are two spots for taking time to "smell the roses"….the Villa Cipressi and the Villa Monastero fabulous architecture, gardens, terracing, statuary, views, pathways, grottoes. For those who enjoy Guinness Records, The Fiumelatte / (milky river), the shortest river in Italy, is just one km south of Varenna. This river (800 feet) falls from Grigna mountain peaks in a noisy, foamy, white rush to the lake below, only 6 months of the year (from April to September).

Stop at the tourist office and you can get a map that takes you from the main square to the Fiumelatte, on to the castle and then back to town. This is a wonderful town!

How to get there

Fly from UK to Milan/Bergamo airport with Ryan Air or with Easy Jet or British Airways, Alitalia... to Milan Linate.
Discounted car hire available with Hertz / Ryanair.

Orio al Serio Airport to Bergamo city station by bus, Bergamo to Lecco by train and change from Lecco to Varenna by train (total time h.1.30)

Frequent bus transfers to Milan central station from the airports and one train every hour towards Varenna! There are always local taxis available. (Railway station is in town.)

The lounge benifits from a big TV with some Sky channels, DVD, Video players and Hi Fi.

Next there is the kitchen with 10 seater dining table, which creates a relaxing environment in which you can cook and enjoy an italian evening meal.

The first floor accommodates a 2 double bedrooms and spacious bathroom.

On the second floor you will find a master bedroom with and en-suite (with jacuzzi) tastefully decorated and complimented by a wooden beamed ceiling to give a spacious feel to the room.

The 4th bedroom has a single bed and is quite small but still cozy.

Book a scooter and ride it alog the coast. Try the best way to visit our lake without worries about parking and fines, 2 helmets included. €30 per day!

Cleaning and linen change at the end of your holiday are included in the price, however, if you book for two weeks, a mid term towel and linen change.

Beach towels are not provided , please bring your own.

Please do not use the home towels for the beach.
