About this location
The Dordogne region
The property is located in the Perigord Vert National Park in the north of the Dordogne, close to the border with the Charante. The Perigord Vert is named in celebration of the very rural nature of its countryside and inhabitants. This is an open region with miles of unspoilt forestry and uncultivated farmland. Much of the landscape is striking granite landforms, with iconic castles steeped in legend, rich chateaus and stunning Perigord houses clinging to rock outcrops are plentiful,
The Perigord is known not only for the magnificent scenery to walk, cycle and horse ride through, but also the delicious natural produce. The duck and goose products like fois gras are renowned to food critics globally, and Perigord Vert is the most famous truffle region of France.
The Dordogne is known as the 'birthplace of mankind' due to its enormous collection of historic sited, especially from the pre-historic and Roman eras. The most evident relic of this time is the painted cave of Lascaux and the smaller Grotte at Villars.
Guests to Le Forestier will find many and varied activities within easy reach. Whether you are looking for some peace away from the madding crowd, or a bit of excitement.
The property is located in over 20 acres of its own land and forest and is very tranquil and quiet, and yet the village of Javerlhac is only 1km away where you will find most amenities within easy walking distance.
There are also some excellent restaurants within a short drive serving a selection of Perigordian dishes and the town of Brantome (the Venice of the Dordogne) is a favourite to visit, where you can take a leisurely boat trip along the river, hire a canoe, visit the numerous galleries and the Abbey or just sit and relax in the numerous riverside cafes.
Weekly markets are also a treat to visit whether you are looking for a small antique treasure or sumptuous fresh strawberries or local cheese.

"lovely, quiet house with large pool"
we had a wonderful week in this lovely house of Sue and Barney. Beautiful garden where the boys could play soccer and badminton, large pool and enough space for reading a book in peace and quiet. There is a lot to do in the environment of the manor but we stayed mostly at the house. The hospitality of Sue en Barney was great. Again thank you for the nice week.
