The Brittany / Morbihan region
Brittany is well know due to its complicated history and once beiing an independand kingdom. Nowaday it is one of the six Celtic Nations and a popular holiday destination.
Loire-Atlantique is part of the current region of Pays-de-la-Loire and a truly beautiful place woth of visit.
The local beaches are the most beautiful in Europe with La Baule ranked the most beautiful beach in Europe. Examples are Penestin, Pornic and the beaches of the Gulf of Morbihan. Places to visit are The Briere National (over 100km of navigable canals as well as salt marshes) and the gardens of Marais and Herbignac and the village of Kherinet.
Brittany has an irresistible charm. This is mainly because of its coastline with steep cliffs and fine sandy beaches, ora maybe thanks to its historic fishing villages and its outstanding cultural heritage. Places to visit in the area are: Sarzeau with the Château de Suscinio and Kerguet Manor. - Le Men Guen farm. - Abbey of Saint Gildas de Rhuys. - The Cider and “Terroir” Museum - Muzillac and Pen Mur mill (32 km). - Branféré Zoo in Le Guerno (35 km). By car Depending on your poitn of arrival, take the N24 to Ploërmel then the N166 to Vannes. Then take the D780 towards Nantes and exit at "Presqu’île de Rhuys/Sarzeau/ Port du Crouesty" (Arzon district). A11 “Autoroute de l’Ouest” to Nantes. Then take the N165 to Muzillac, the D20 towards Sarzeau and the D780 to Port du Crouesty/Arz
