Guestbook for La Claie
La Claie is a most delightful cottage located in really beautiful surroundings. It lived up to the best of our expectations and we will never forget what a wonderful time we had there! There is a river within 10 metres from the house (yet no mosquitoes!), there is a lake in one minute walk (which is quite small, but beatiful, and what's important is that a boat is provided for guests' use - our teenage kids had LOTS of fun going up and down that lake in the boat), there are lovely woods starting right behind the cottage (with a rope swing hanging from one of the magnificent oak trees - great fun!). The whole place is magic - it allows you to relax and it fills you with energy! The cottage itself is excellent: attractive, stylish, cosy, with all the comfortable facilities, perfectly clean. The owners are most helpful. Thank you, dear Martin and Gill, for such a lovely stay! As for our other impressions - the best was a visit to Rochefort-en-Terre, a beautiful small town with "French character", cafe du Puits has excellent food and a menu in English :) , we liked Brittany's traditional galettes (buckwheat pancakes) and soupe de poissons (fish soup). Speaking about food :) - we had so much pleasure eating :)!! French bread, croissants, fromage de chevre (goat's cheese), roquefort, not to mention great lamb chops from the Casino supermarket in Malestroit. A visit to Carnac, prehistoric megaliths, is also worthwhile. Last but not least - she pecial thanks to Meggie, the owners' border collie, which kept us great company. She loyally took part in all the boys' adventures accompanying them everywhere with her favourite stick.

Just to say we had a lovely holiday staying at La Claie. The cottage and it's surroundings were lovely and we would recommend anyone who was looking for a holiday place to stay in that area to stay.
The children are missing Meg too!

We first visited the gite La Claie in 2005 and had such a fantastic holiday that we returned this year in 2006. The gite and its location are idyllic and very beautiful and Martin, Gill, and their lovely daughter Hannah are the perfect hosts with whom we have become good friends. Special mention to Meg who is quite simply the loveliest dog we have ever come across. The lake, mill pond, and the river add that special touch to the gite and we will certainly be returning to holiday there again in the future.

We have had a great holiday staying at La Claie. The cottage offers loads of living space, two comfortable bedrooms and a nice new bathroom. It was clean, easy to look after and well equipped. Best thing about the cottage was its location. It sits on a big site which includes woods, river, and lake. Our children (5 and 9) would have been happy to paly outside all day every day. You'll need a car but then it opens up a wealth of things to do all within 50 minutes drive and most within 20 minutes. Villages, cities, lakes (with a beach), the coast, zoo.... all in all a great place for holiday.
