Lockehaven Waterfront Resort B&B offers a one-bedroom suite with private entrance, complete with large outside deck overlooking the waters of Deep Cove and the Coastal Mountains beyond.

The suite has a private hot tub, so that you can relax in comfort outdoors after a day of kayaking in the cove, hiking in the local mountains or skiing in one of the 3 ski hills on Vancouver's North Shore.

The one-bedroom suite has a king size bed, living room with couch, complete kitchenette and dining area, office desk with computer, Wireless Internet and dedicated telephone line.

We serve a continental style breakfast each morning in our dining room. You have the option of self-catering in privacy for any meals, by using your kitchenette and deck barbecue.

The British Columbia region

I first arrived in Vancouver BC from my hometown of Ottawa, Ontario in Eastern Canada at the beginning of the May 24th long weekend in 1969. During those 3 days I was able to go downhill skiing, mountain hiking, sailing and swimming outside.

After visiting 40 countries, I would say there probably is not a better place in the world to enjoy such a variety of outdoor activities, because of our sheltered ocean waters, spectacular local mountains and temperate climate.

The climate of the BC coast is completely different from anywhere else in Canada, especially in winter, when the temperature very seldom goes below freezing. We do not mind whenever it rains in Vancouver during the winter, because we know that it is snowing on the 3 ski hills of Vancouver's North Shore and at Whistler. The golf season on the coast lasts almost all year. The summers are drier than Ontario but never too hot or humid, thanks to the ocean breezes.

Many of Lockehaven's guests have made Lockehaven their base for exploring not just the Vancouver area but also Victoria, The Sunshine Coast and Whistler, all of which can be reached with day trips. We delight in providing our guests with information based on our personal knowledge and the happy experiences of past guests.

Vancouver / Deep Cove area

The Metro Vancouver area is a vibrant multicultural community of about 2 million people located right at the edge of the vast wilderness of BC. It offers an astonishing range of recreational opportunities, allowing you to enjoy both the attractions of a beautiful cosmopolitan city and also a large variety of outdoor activities, ranging from the leisurely to the extreme.

Partly due to our prosperous multicultural population and partly due to the immediate availability of fresh seafood, Vancouver may be the best place in the world to enjoy a huge variety of very high quality ethnic and seafood restaurants at very reasonable prices.

Vancouver's North Shore comprising both North Vancouver and West Vancouver offers immediate access to beaches; boating; mountain sking, hiking or biking; scenic walks; golfing; entertainment; excellent restaurants and shopping.

Deep Cove, in North Vancouver, is absolutely unique and special in the Metro Vancouver area, because it looks and feels like a remote coastal village at the edge of the wilderness and yet it is only a 25 minute drive to downtown Vancouver. It is at the extreme east end of the coast road on Vancouver's North Shore and so there is no through traffic. Lockehaven is only a 15 minute walk from the charming village of Deep Cove on Gallant Avenue, where there are several restaurants, a live theatre, a pub, a beach with a swim raft and a park that hosts live concerts in the summer. Deep Cove is noted locally as a recreational boating centre, with a yacht club, a marina offering power boat rentals and the Deep Cove Canoe and Kayak centre, which offers rentals, lessons and tours. The sheltered waters of Deep Cove and the nearby island areas are perfect for beginners and intermediate kayakers and the spectacular fiord of Indian Arm provides an extensive area for more adventurous and energetic paddlers.

How to get there

Lockehaven is located in Deep Cove at the east end of North Vancouver, on the North Shore of Metropolitan Vancouver. Deep Cove is conveniently located only a 10 minute drive from Highway One, at the North Side of the Ironworkers Memorial (Second Narrows) Bridge. For this reason, although Deep Cove has the look and feel of a remote coastal village, it is takes only 25 minutes to drive to downtown Vancouver and only about 1 3/4 hours to reach Whistler. We are about a 45 minute drive to Vancouver International airport and an hour from either the US border or Tsawwassen, the ferry terminal to reach Victoria on Vancouver Island.

For travelers from the US, the most convenient route is to fly into Vancouver International airport. Alternatively, you can fly to Seattle, rent a car and drive from SEATAC airport to Vancouver (3 to 4 hours). This may be less expensive.

Rates are higher for shorter stays and significantly lower for longer stays. The highest rates are in the summer ( June 1 to Sept 30) and lowest in winter from November 1 to the end of March. For details on rates and policies please visit our website.

Conditions

A deposit of 20% by credit card is required to make a booking and an additional 30% to bring the total advance to 50% is required 30 days before your scheduled arrival. The final 50 % is charged upon arrival. All rates are quoted in Canadian dollars.
