Set on a hillside with spectacular views across the valley this 3 bedroomed country house sleeps 5 comfortably. The house is divided into two parts, the rental occupies the whole of the first floor whilst the ground floor is the owners apartment. The owners rarely occupy their apartment, please ask if they will be there if this is a problem for you.

The estate consists of a whole hillside of almond trees for you to wander through as you wish in addition to the gardens with swimming pool.

The spacious living area is open plan with a cosy sitting area, attractive dining area and a rustic yet well equipped kitchen area.

The solid wood kitchen ?is equipped with electric cooker, fridge freezer and a delightful array of rustic bowls and implements in addition to the elegant dinner service. An assortment of coffee percolators is also provided.

The dining area seats 6 and is surrounded by windows overlooking the gardens. The focal point of the comfortable sitting area is the glass fronted wood burning stove, perfect for cosy winter evenings. Unlimited wood is provided and gas central heating is also available if the weather turns uncharacteristically cold!

The Master Bedroom is accessed from the sitting area via double doors and two sets of French Windows make another light and airy space.? The second bedroom can be configured as either a single or twin to suit your requirements whilst a further single room leads off the kitchen area.

Outside the terraces are well equipped with garden furniture offering a choice of dining areas and sunbathing areas. Choose between sun and shade, sunbed and hammock. Enjoy listening to the frogs in garden pond and the water running through the garden or wander down the path to the Era (traditional threshing circle) to admire the panoramic views over the Alpujarra Valley to the Contraviersa.

There is wifi available throughout the house in addition to a selection of mixed language dvds and books.

The house is approached by a well maintained track which is perfectly accessible in any car.

Children are well provided for with two cots available as well as a high chair and a selection of toys.

The Andalucia region

Andalucia is the southermost region of Spain with more than 300 days of sunshine per year. With beaches, mountains and historical cities it really does offer something for everyone.

Valor

The moorish village of Valor perches on the foothills of the Sierra Nevada gazing out over the valley and the market town of Ugijar. An unspoilt traditional Spanish village popular with spanish tourists. Situated two hours from Granada (the Alhambra Palace is truely unmissable) and one hour from the coast, culture, countryside, beaches and skiing are all within easy reach.

With a population of just under 1000, the village has 9 bars all of which serve tapas and a couple of which offer a full menu. There are also 2 small supermarkets, one with it's own bakery, which sell all essentional shopping items including fresh meat, fruit and veg. The travelling market visits on the 4th and 19th of every month with a few stalls selling clothing, plants, nuts & olives etc. For a wider range of shops and a bustling twice monthly market (5th and 20th), the town of Ugijar is just 10 kilometers away. The village pool is open during the months of July and August and there are numerous fiestas throughout the year, the largest of these being Moors and Christians in September when the villagers re-enact the taking of the Alhambra complete with horses and musket fire.

You are surrounded by magnificent views of the Sierra Nevada and Contraviersa mountain ranges with numerous opportunities for walking and mountain biking on your doorstep. For the more adventurous, Mulhacen is close at hand.

Try visiting a local vineyard, take a walking tour, hire a mountain bike, visit the historical city of Granada, explore the local villages or simply while away your time relaxing by the pool!

Popular with Spanish tourists but as yet relatively undiscovered by other nationalities, Valor is an extremely friendly pueblo blanco and an ideal place to observe and enjoy the traditional Spanish way of life.

"An amazing house in a grove of olive and almond trees and a view of the Sierra Nervada mountains to die for"

We had a wonderful holiday, intending to go for hikes in the mountains every day, but ended up enjoying being at the house so much, we stayed put, watching the kids play in the pool and the various games they invented. Instead, as the sun cooled each day, we went out for early evening walks that ended at the local tapas in bars and everyone was happy. A big thank you to Ginny and Terry for looking after us and making us feel welcome.
