Casa Concha is a 4 bedroomed home situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in an area called La Jarea in the village of Valor. There is car parking closeby.

This traditional house has been sympathetically restored and modernised.. There is an internal fountain and numerous other original and unusual features such as beamed rooms and 2 fireplaces.

The location and the structure of the building make it cool in the summer. In the cooler months the house is heated by a woodburning stove on the first floor and there are electric radiators in some rooms .The house is built on a slope and has 3 floors. On the ground floor, which has separate access from the rear of the house, there is a study/bedroom, a large activity room and a storeroom. A staircase leads up from the ground floor to the first floor. The first (middle) floor has 2 double bedrooms, a single bedroom/ office (with internet), a bathroom and a sitting room with a woodburning stove . A staircase leads to the second floor. The second floor is on ground level at the front of the house. The front door is large and is made of chestnut. This opens into the hall. The hall leads into the lounge-diner. The lounge has a working fountain which can be filled with water in the summer. Also on this floor is a large well equipped kitchen-diner and a bathroom with shower. A door in the lounge leads through to the terrace. The terrace is big enough for 6 people to sit and eat. It has a good view of the surrounding countryside. From the terrace the roof terrace is accessed via a spiral staircase. The roof terrace is huge with spectacular 180 degree views. There is a pergola to provide shade, an electric socket, a tap, chairs and 2 sun-loungers.

The house has 2 televisions and there is an electric organ in the activity room.. There is a large collection of books, maps and information about walks in the local area as well as CDs DVDs and videos. A variety of board games are available and 2 mountain bicycles.

The centre of the village is an 8-10 minute walk from Casa Concha. The nearest supermarket is only a 5 minute walk. The nearest bar/restaurant, Las Perdices, is opposite the supermarket near to the childrens playground. .

Valor

Valor is a very attractive whitewashed village with about 1000 inhabitants situated about 900 meters above sea level.

There are 2 supermarkets which sell fresh meat and locally grown produce (one has a bakery, local olive oil and honey).

There is a range of bars and restaurants in Valor including an outside terrace bar which is open in the summer.. All of the bars serve tapas and most offer meals in separate dining areas. Menus in the restaurants and bars offer a wide choice of local cuisine. One bar has gained a good reputation for its home made pizzas.

Valor has a pharmacy, a bank, a shop selling locally made products (including goats cheese). Most days a van tours the village, stopping to sell fresh fish. There is a market twice a month.

The village swimming pool (supervised by a lifeguard) has a grassed area and and a separate paddling pool for small children. There is also a bar and restaurant. These facilities are only open in the summer. The childrens playground, near to La Jarea, and the outdoor keep-fit area for adults, just outside the village, are open throughout the year.

A lovely picnic area with seating and tables has been created under tall trees near to the old bridge.

Sign-posted routes for walkers around the village enable you to walk to places avoiding the road, such as the route to Cuestas Vinas, where you can sample the local mineral water from natural springs, use the picnic area and then continue your walk to the village of Yegen.
