The Maltese Islands are considered to be the Cultural Roundabout of the Mediterranean, we've seen it all! The narrow meandering streets of their towns and villages are packed with Renaissance cathedrals and Baroque façades.
The countryside is dotted with the oldest known human structures in the world and the beaches spread along one side of this jewel...
The Valletta area
Valletta, The Fortress City, Citta' Umilissima, “a city built by gentlemen for gentlemen” is Malta's Capital city: a living, working city, the heart of the Maltese Islands. The city is busy by day, yet retains a timeless atmosphere.
The grid-like nature of the narrow streets boasts some of Europe's finest architectural and artistic works, churches, façades and palaces, walking around Valletta you’ll come across something special around every corner: statues, niches, fountains and the odd artisan entertaining the passers by.
Narrow side streets are full of interesting, quaint, shops and cafés, while Valletta’s main streets are dotted with larger international branded shops for fashion, banks, jewellery etc...

There are numerous daily flights from the UK leaving from Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester, Bristol and most other regional airports. Air Malta operate frequent flights from most European countries as well as British Airways, Easyjet. AirOne and RyanAirways which all fly to Malta.
There is a regular bus service running from the Airport to Valletta or there is a good taxi service taking about 15 mins to reach Valletta. Car hire from the Airport would be another option.

“Book this apartment - book it now!”
This apartment is the perfect place to stay in Valletta, being only 5 minutes walk into the very centre of the city, and to all of it's attractions, shops and restaurants. It is also 5 minutes from the Sliema ferry, which is very handy for shopping. You couldn't ask for a better view from the dining area AND the wrap around balcony - watch the yachts coming and going out of Marsamxett harbour, with the beautiful Manoel Island (built by the Knights of Malta) and Sliema as the backdrop. The balcony gets the sun in the later afternoon (October/November visits - we've been twice) and is the perfect place to relax after a day out. The apartment is in a charming traditional Maltese building, but is very modern inside and is comfortable and very well equipped (washer/dryer, microwave, DVD, air con, wifi etc etc) - basically everything you could need. The apartment is up a couple of flights of stairs, and Valletta is quite steep in places, but with my mildly dodgy knee I managed OK. Alexander is a great host, and the welcome treats he gives guests are most welcome (wine, bread, cookies). For food shopping you have M&S and the Wembley Store just a few minutes walk away in Valletta, or across the harbour in Sliema there is a supermarket in the shopping centre at Tigne Point. For restaurants we would definitely advise you find your way to La Mere on Merchants Street - it is our favourite restaurant in the world - no kidding! We would thoroughly recommend this apartment.

“We will be back.”
It was a pleasure to stay at this apartment. The balcony was fantastic. Sitting eating breakfast in the morning watching the boats come and go and at night with a glass of wine enjoying the fireworks. The view is fantastic. Thanks Alexander for all your help. We will be back.
We spent 11 nights at Old Theatre Lane. The flat met all our expectations and more. Wonderful views and easy access to shops and the many things to see and do in Valletta. Comfortable sofa - ideal... more

“Could't wait to get "home" every day”
Lovely appartment, great owner (thank you Alexander), magnificent view and very close to all the beautiful places in Valleta. Because of the location we were feeling Maltese for a week. Better than any hotel. If youre not in a hurry, explore the island by public transport.

“Ideally located apartment with superb views overlooking harbour”
Just returned from a week's stay at Old Theatr Lane and can thoroughly recommend the apartment - so centrally located in Valletta - out the door, up a short flight of steps - and you're right in the middle of this beautiful city. The owner Alexander was very helpful and there was no problem with the return of deposit - all very prompt. We would certainly consider re-booking this apartment when we return to Valletta - you would never tire of the view of the harbour.
Old Theatre Lane Apartment is in a great position in Valletta- easy walk to the centre- with a wonderful view over the Marsamxett Harbour. The welcome gift of a bottle of wine, bread and biscuits supplied by Alexander, was much appreciated. It would have been helpful if a set of instructions were supplied for the use of the appliances. I was unable to operate the freezer or washing machine as I did not recognise the settings. Also for the price paid I think an upgrade in the quality of bed linen and towels would be an improvement. The apartment is on the second floor and there are approximately 30 spiral steps to be negotiated to the front door, not easy with luggage, but the view is worth it!

“THE Only place to stay in Malta”
As a mature couple we looked for an authentic place to stay, to soak in the history and relax. we could not have chosen better with the freedom of self catering local shops and stunning, I mean stunning views,A clean excellent finished apartment and all the stupendous delights of Valletta a walk away, we had the holiday of our dreams. For eating check out the newly opened Tang (5 min walk) and for walks go down bellow the bastion. Our Host Alexander could not be more helpful also the local people were as friendly as could be. Our only reservation in praising the apartment is that others will want to book up for next year.

“Fantastic location, great apartment, very helpful owner”
This must be one of the best located apartments in Malta. The views are amazing, there is always something happening in the harbour, whether its a fishing boat coming in just after dawn, yachts... more
Lovely modernised apartment in a classic old building on the harbour front with fantastic views. Perfect size for two people. The location is excellent; just a few minutes walk into the centre of Valletta. Alexander, the owner, was exceptionally welcoming and helpful. We would definitely stay here again and have no hesitation in recommending it.

“Great views from apartment in one of Europe's outstanding cities”
A severe storm diverted us to Sicily for over 24 hours, but Alexander the owner was ever helpful and re-assuring. He met us at the apartment after liaising with the taxi driver as we drove in from the airport. Our stay coincided with some of Malta's coolest March weather for some time, but the apartments climate control units proved that they could heat as well as cool.
Apartment has fabulous views, and is spacious and comfortable. Especially liked the original artwork on the walls.
We choose to walk or use buses (7 day pass just 12 euros), to get about and the apartment is only a ten minute walk to the main bus station.
Made full use of the local market and the small shops that make up 90% of stores in the area. Owners always helpful and friendly.
Enjoyed a good value well cooked meal in the nearby Jubilee cafe, and a proper celebratory meal in the Tattoria Pallaiz.
Great walking in Gozo - from ferry port across the south of the island and looping back up to Vittoria to catch a return bus.
Mdina - we liked it so much we went back again, buying some wonderful glass from the factory shop on each occasion.
Finally, would like to compliment Air Malta on handling the storm diversion to Sicily so well. All the crew stayed very calm despite severe turbulence on the two abortive landing attempts in Malta, and the difficult touchdown in Sicily where winds blew at up to 130km/hr. They swiftly found comfortable 4* accommodation for 160 passengers in the early hours. I can think of a few operators who would have left us in the terminal.
Not so clever were lastminute.com, who failed to notify us of changes to flight times until the evening before departure. Other passengers had been notified two weeks before at least.
Thanks Alexander - we greatly enjoyed our stay in your old home.

Apartment is very well-located, with amazing view from the windows. From this place you can walk everywhere in Valletta (restaurants, bars, museums). Besides in the vicinity you can do the grocery shopping (there is a small shop). Oposite the building there is a place from where you can take a water taxi to Sliema. As for the apartment itself, it is very well-equipped, the owner took care for every detail (there is everything you need during the stay, especially in the kitchen. The apartment is also well-mantained, generally is clean and in good condition. Alexander, the owner welcomed us very warmly, he told us important information about our stay in Malta. What is more we were nicely surprised by his hospitality (he gave us water, a bottle of wine, cookies, bread and milk). We had a wonderful time there.

“the best apartment ever - and we've had a few!”
The view was magnificent - boats galore to watch in the harbour. Great restaurant recommendations from Alexander and also a few basic essentials when we arrived at 9 in the evening - we were delighted that he regards wine as an essential! Lots to do in Malta, bus trips, boat trips and the Malta experience. We didn't make it to Gozo this time but hopefully next. One week wasn't enough. The apartment is brilliantly equipped and we would love to go back there. Valletta is a very beautiful city and this was the best base from which to see it. Denis and Kathleen, Belfast

“Character property with wonderful views, centrally located for access to the whole island”
Booking and payment easy. Welcome and advice on what to do and where to go, very good. Old apartment block with balconies overlooking the harbour; the flat has been modernised with flair and all essential requirements. The only significant improvement would be the adddition of two comfortable easy chairs. The views over the old harbour, looking west to the setting sun, are spectacular at all times of the day and night. Property is within 5 minutes walk of the square in Valetta and another 5 minutes to the bus terminus for very cheap and frequent transport to all parts of the island.
