The Island of Malta region
The climate of Malta is basically Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild winters. During the summer months (May to September) there is little rain, there are between 10 and 12 hours of sunshine daily and temperatures average 23.5C. Throughout the year towns and villages all over Malta celebrate festivals in honour of their local patron saint, these events are really a great spectacle for all who visit Malta.
Malta has something to offer all age groups from the hip and trendy St Julians to the more sedate and cultural setting of Valletta.Theophile Gautier once stated and I quote " And I shall settle, for age makes me somewhat weary, On Malta's white terraces between blue sky and blue seas". Discover, enjoy and you will return.
Valleta, capital of the Republic of Malta, is strategically situated on the Sciberras peninsula on Malta's north-east coast, surrounded by what are surely the most powerful fortifications in the world. Malta's capital Valletta is the seat of government, with parliament, the Supreme Court, government offices and other institutions. It is also the country's cultural centre with numerous operatic and dramatic performances and concerts. Valletta has an atmosphere all of it's own and the visitor will find many fine restaurants, open air cafes and good quality shopping in abundance. Valletta is a historic city and as such there are many interesting places to visit including the Royal Opera House, St Johns Cathedral, the Grand Master's Palace, Fort St Elmo and the National War Museum. A must for any visitor is a boat trip around the Grand Harbour and Marsamxett Harbour and if you time it right you may be lucky enough to enjoy one of the numerous firework displays whilst cruising the harbours.

Dear valued guest, thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay with us at Felix Street. Thank you also for your 4 star rating (Good) and your email confirmation that you intend to book Felix Street when you return to Malta in 2014 and that you will be recommending Felix Street to your family and friends. With regard to a few points that you have kindly raised......Having let Felix Street to well over 200 valued guests during the past six years we have had absolutely no adverse comments from previous guests with regard to any of the points that you have raised in your review. That said, we do really appreciate your feedback. Felix Street is advertised as a second floor apartment and as such one would naturally assume that there would be a few steps to reach the second floor. You mentioned in your review about the drains on the ground floor. Once a year we carry out preventative maintenance on all of the communal parts of the building and my property manager has confirmed that the communal drains on the ground floor had been inspected just prior to your arrival. I am sorry if this inconvenienced you at all. You mentioned in your email to me that one evening you were woken by two of our elderly neighbours who were passing the time of day on the communal stairs. Again, the subject of noisy neighbours has not been brought to my attention by our previous guests so, I think that this was a one off occurrence that a guest has been disturbed whilst sleeping. I apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused you. You mentioned in your review that the bed was a little on the hard side for you. I personally purchased the bed mattress for the bed and I can only say that I have slept in the bed on numerous occasions without any discomfort whatsoever. In September of this year we had two elderly guests (Age 82 & 85) from Australia staying with us and I actually received a very complimentary email from them telling me that they slept so well in the bed that they really did not want to get up in the morning! You kindly mentioned a couple of other points with regard to design features that really do come down to ones own personal preferences however, I do thank you for your valued comments. We do look forward to meeting up with you again at Felix Street during your next visit to Malta in 2014.

"The perfect slice of Maltese living...when can I move in!?"
This was our first time visiting Malta and it most definitely won't be the last! Our stay in Malta was the most enjoyable holiday we've had for several years.
Felix Street was the perfect place for us, as a young couple who enjoy a slice of traditional culture wherever we go and prefer hiding away from the tourist resorts and too much hustle and bustle. Valletta is definitely the place to do both, and is ideally located to explore the historical sites. Nestled away on a side street next to the fresh produce market is this spacious, airy and luxuriously relaxing apartment, containing everything you could possibly need while you're away from home.
We arrived at about 11am in Luqa; Ian's friendly driver Anthony was there to collect us and drive us to the apartment in Valletta for a fixed, pre-agreed fare. He pointed out some handy spots along the way, such as the bus station, and advised on some of the best ways to get around and the best places to go on certain days. We were shown around the apartment and wished a wonderful stay before setting off to explore the city for ourselves. We arranged for Anthony to pick us up again the following week for our flight home and this was no problem.
We'd been provided with fresh milk, eggs, bread, fruit and tea/coffee to get us started, which was fortunate because all the grocery shops close early on a Saturday. Ian had provided all the info we needed for our stay, but there was a spare copy of these details in the flat. The flat was spotlessly clean and we had fresh towels and linen laid out for us. We also appreciated the selection of local guide books and used them regularly throughout our stay.
The living room is ideal for a snooze – possibly the most comfy sofa in the world! If you're a light sleeper pack your earplugs because, as is to be expected in an old building with a courtyard, you do get a bit of noise from the other apartments and the lively fishermen in the early morning. But it's all part of the charm and beauty of staying in the heart of an old city and we embraced every sensory experience – the sights, smells, sounds, and the wonderful 20degree early morning weather!
We watched a film on the projector one evening, which was lovely. The ability to play some internet radio throughout the apartment was also great…but it took us a while to find the volume switch in the bedroom (by the mirror!). Wi-fi, washing machine and dishwasher were also used and worked fine.
We also took the opportunity of picking up some fish from the market one morning and cooking in the apartment – we had everything we needed to create an absolute feast. Another tick from an avid cook!
On the note of food, we never had a bad meal in Valletta – sampling local dishes like fenek, ftira and pastizzi. Notable places to eat nearby are Aaron's Kitchen (be sure to book), D'Office and a Sicilian place called La Giara. Best place we found for some late night tapas style dishes and reasonably priced drinks is Tico Tico on Strait Street. Trabuxo was nice too, for an evening bottle of wine while people watching. Strait Street is a MUST – great atmosphere but no trouble. And all within a 10min walk of the apartment. Bliss.
The streets were kept exceptionally clean and everyone we spoke to was incredibly friendly.
If you're wanting some relaxation, a bit of luxury, a convenient location, lots of space and a true Maltese experience, then Felix Street is definitely for you. Ian has been a pleasure to deal with and was happy to answer all our questions ahead of our visit. His correspondence is prompt and clear, and we felt reassured throughout. We were pleased with the appropriate price for our week's stay and will most definitely be going back to Ian's apartment in the future.

"We had a fantastic stay in Malta, largely thanks to this wonderful apartment!"
We had a fantastic stay in Malta, largely thanks to this wonderful apartment! As a young couple, we enjoyed the intimate feel of the apartment. The bath and shower are amazing! The apartment feels very spacious due to its excellent design. Modern features and soft lighting create a cosy atmosphere. The speaker system is really good and we enjoyed spending a night in watching a film on the projector. The kitchen facillities have everything you could want – we cooked a meal with maltese sausage in the slow cooker – yummy!
We greatly appreciated the nice touches on arrival. Some basic supplies enabled us to have lunch when we arrived tired from our flight. Ian was very helpful throughout our stay. We couldn't have asked for more!
The location is perfect – right in the centre of Valletta, with the market and restaurants near by. The bus travel round Malta is cheap and it is very easy to get anywhere you would like to go. Silema is also easy to get to on the ferry. We are very glad that we chose Valletta and this apartment as our base. There is so much to do, we must come back!
Thank you very much for taking the time to review Felix Street. I am pleased that you enjoyed staying in the apartment and that you had a great time exploring Valletta and Malta. Since your visit we are currently in the process of decorating throughout the apartment. We have also acted upon suggestions from previous guests and fully enclosed the bathroom and also fitted a new door to the wetroom. Additional lighting has also been installed in the bedroom. Many thanks again for the review. Regards, Ian Kelloway.
