The Island of Malta region
The Maltese archipelago is in the centre of the Mediterranean and it enjoys mild winters and sun throughout the year. There are many palces to visit – the Megalithic Temples (including Ggantija, the oldest freestanding temple in the world), the underground St Paul’s and St. Agatha’s catacombs, The Knights of St. John’s significant sites, such as Fort St Angelo and Fort Rinella. WWII significant sites, such as the Mgarr war shelter, Mtarfa ex-British military buildings are not to be missed.
Valletta, Malta's capital and World Heritage site, was built by the knights of St.John nearly five centuries ago. A contestant for European City of Culture 2018, Valletta is a bustling business city during the day, characterised by clusters of worn limestone and picturesque balconies. It shifts into a quieter mode at night and one can enjoy the magic of the bastioned city which hosts a series of cultural events, theatre and concerts.
The apartment is just 5 minutes walk to Houses of Parliament, the many Auberges (palaces), St.John's Co-Cathedral, the Mediterranean Conference Centre, the Manoel Theatre, St. George's Square, Fort St.Elmo, St. James Cavalier and the Grand Harbour Barrakkas (panoramic gardens).
