The Sardinia region

Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea - 202 km from the Italian mainland (190 km from the island Monte Argentario); in between is the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The French island Corsica is east of Sardinia (only 12 km distance), divided by the Bocche di Bonifatio. West of Sardinia is Menorca (335 km), one of the Balearic Islands, belonging to Spain.

Sardinia has a typical Mediterranean climate: nice and warm in spring and autumn, hot in summer and mild in winter.

Sardinia is one of the most geologically ancient bodies of land in Europe.

The highest mountain, Punta la Marmora, is about 1834 meters; the main island is surrounded by many archipelagos.

Sardinia is a nature reserve and home to a wide variety of rare or uncommon animals and plants under protection of species. The island is populated by many reptiles and amphibians.

Beside the railway Ferrovie dello Stato there are many running on narrow-gauge track, best known as Ferrovie della Sardegna. Further, many tourists catch the trenino verde, which runs through the wildest parts of the island. It is slow but allows the traveler to have scenic views impossible to see from the main road (for example between Bosa Marina – Macomer and Arbatax – Mandas). A close-meshed country bus network and three airports (Cagliari, Olbia and Alghero) provide very good travel opportunities. Also you have the possibility to travel by ferry from island to island.

Historic sites: Romanic churches, Byzantine churches.

Geographic sights: 4 national parks, 26 regional parks and 3 marine bio-regions, the red rock of Arbatax, different grottos, mountain road and costal highway between the also worth seeing of the town Alghero and Bosa, the port Porto Cervo and the coast Costa Esmeralda, the island La Madalena....

Sporting activities: Free climbing, golf, mountain biking, riding, sailing, diving, windsurfing, hiking, swimming....

Culinary specialties are feta cheese, different pastas, rock lobster, scampi, bottarga, squid, tuna, sardines and other seafood figure, served with Sardinian red - and white wine, Ishnusa, a corn-based lager-beer or Mirto, a liqueur, made of the fruits of myrtle, growing all over the island.

Sardinian (Sardu), a Romance language, is the most widely spoken language on the island, but the Italian language dominated in the praxis of the public life. Above all, the language has been influenced by Catalan, Spanish and indigenous Neuralgic elements with some roots from Phoenician; Algiers (Alguerés) is a variant of Catalan spoken in the city of Alghero. Along the northern coast Corsican linguistic enclaves survived.

Valledoria

Santa Maria Coghinas, a spa town, located at the river Coghinas, is embedded in the sweet hilly landscape of Sardinia. The water of the river, which is getting up to 70 degree in some places, is eminently suitable to bath. A thermal bath is located directly at the river with spa/wellness area, different practices and beauty treatments. Give your body a treat!

The optimal geographic position makes it possible to explore overall in the north of Sardinia and to enjoy the sea and the thermal baths.

Quiet and peaceful environment and nature, beautiful beaches, small but lively towns and the Sardinian Mediterranean landscape expect you here at this amazing place.

In the town Santa Maria Coghinas nearby are many restaurants, shops, the post office, one cash machine and for families with children a really nice playground.

The next restaurant is within walking distance – a short walk of 5 minutes.

Valledoria is a small but lively city, where you can find everything the heart desires.

The very good strategic position makes it possible to explore the north of Sardinia as well as the sea and the thermal bathes in the nearby town Santa Maria Coghinas.
