Home description
Enjoy log fires, delicious organic food and real alpine village life in our luxury farmhouse ski chalet in the ski area of Peisey-Vallandry (Les Arcs/Paradiski). The Woodshed sleeps up to 19 and has 7 large bedrooms (6 en suite), a dining room, two living rooms, a library area and separate games room. We provide breakfast, afternoon tea and a five course evening meal every day using fresh organic and locally sourced ingredients.
The farmhouse is perfect for relaxing in after a hard day on the slopes. You can curl up in front of the fire in our spacious 'medieval' sitting room (formerly the stables, it has stone walls and a high beamed ceiling), or take time out with a good book in the library area.
We run you up to either the Peisey Vallandry or Montchavin ski lifts every morning and bring you back when you want in the afternoon. The drive takes less than 10 mins (7km) to the lifts in Montchavin. There's also a regular bus to and from Peisey-Vallandry for those who want even greater flexibility. The farmhouse is also within less than an hour's drive of other popular ski resorts including the Three Valleys, Tignes-Val d'Isere, Sainte Foy, La Rosiere and Valmorel - making it a great location for ski safari holidays.
Groups booking the whole chalet get a 5% discount. The Woodshed is great for weekend and short breaks too as we have no set changeover day. During the summer, there is cycling, golf, mountain biking, white water rafting and horse riding all within close range.

The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region
The farmhouse sits at 2700 ft (800m) and is in the middle of the Paradiski domain, one of the largest in the world (formed by the joining of the Les Arcs and La Plagne domains). The resort offers over 420km of snowsure skiing, benefiting from 2 glaciers over 3000m high. You can either use our private mini bus transfer, take the local shuttle bus or drive to the resort (7mins/7km to the lifts in Montchavin-Les Coches, La Plagne or 15-20 mins to lifts in Peisey-Vallandry, Les Arcs).
The Woodshed is in beautiful Alpine walking and cycling country. It's just off the GR5 long distance path, at the start of the Vanoise National Park, and the Tour de France regularly passes by nearby Bourg St Maurice. There are lots of local walks nearby, with footpaths leading off through the woods at the back of the farmhouse. We can provide maps and walking notes for our favourite walks. There are excellent mountain biking trails close at hand (indeed, the Bike Village, a well-regarded single track mountain biking holiday company, is based just across the village from our farmhouse).
Vallandry-Les Arcs / Landry area
Located on the edge of Landry (2700ft/800m), an old alpine village and part of the Pesiey-Vallandry ski resort, the Woodshed is just a short distance from the ski lifts and slopes of Les Arcs and La Plagne (420km of snowsure pistes). It's a great spot for groups with non-skiers too, as there are lots of lovely walks and cycle routes on the doorstep. The village amenities are just a short stroll away (300 metres to local shop, restaurant and 2 bars).
Local skiing in Peisey Vallandry (Les Arcs side) and Montchavin (La Plagne side) is excellent offering slopes to suit every level from beginners to experts. There are beautiful forest runs, several nursery areas, a snowboard park, and two glaciers (Bellecote and Aigle Rouge) ensuring good skiing even at the end of the season. The piste-side bars and restaurants are good value (not the inflated prices of the Three Valleys), and not too crowded.
The Montchavin-Les Coches and Peisey-Vallandry valleys are also heaven for off-piste adventurers... and a favourite spot for international freeriders. The farmhouse is also in the perfect location for ski safari holidays, with international resorts including Meribel, Courchevel, Tignes, Val d'Isere, Ste Foy, and La Rosiere all within an hour's drive. You can either self-drive, or ask about our 'Powder Safari' packages (3 or 6 days all inclusive off-piste skiing/riding led by a qualified mountain guide, visiting a different resort every day).
During the summer, there is cycling, golf, mountain biking and horse riding all within very close range. The village has a petanque pitch, white water rafting centre and a beautiful 15km riverside path that's great for roller blading and gentle bike rides or strolls.

All the rooms are large enough for cots as well as the main beds (we can provide cots if required). The beds have feather duvets and pillows, and are a delight to sink into after a hard day on the slopes (let us know if you have an allergy!). For drying your ski gear, we have a large heated airing cupboard and boot room for guest use.
For catered and B&B guests we offer a hearty breakfast including fruit smoothies, yogurt, eggs, fresh croissants, and crusty bread. In the evenings we prepare a delicious 5 course evening meal with a healthy vegetarian option. We use organic ingredients where possible, and source the best local produce and artisan foods according to the season. If you're staying B&B, you can book in for dinner if you let us know in advance (that morning is normally okay).
We also lay out an old-fashioned afternoon tea in the sitting room that you can tuck into on your return from skiing (or walking etc if you're a summer guest). It includes a selection of old fashioned cakes, biscuits, and homemade jams. Again, B&B guests can book this if you let us know.
Further details outdoors: Quaintly set built into the hillside under a baroque church, the Woodshed is on the edge of the village overlooking the river and mountains beyond. It backs onto woodland and has a large terraced garden to the side. There's an hot tub for 6 people on the terrace at the back (with great views towards the north face of the Bellecote), a barbecue area and garden seating.

We are open all year round on a catered and B&B basis. We can also let the chalet on a self-catered basis off-peak. Contact us for details.
We're happy to take stag and hen parties as long as the group books the chalet on a sole occupancy basis.
