El Carmen and Abastos compete the city's two most vibrant and cosmopolitan 'hotspots although Abastos offers the definitive essence of everyday civilised Valenciano life'.Benefitting with its excellent local amenities ie; quality and budget supermarkets @3mins. The city's foremost municipal sports centre ie; indoor pools (5) & childs pool, Turkish baths, gym etc within this former City wholesalers market @125m (zoom in, on the interactive map click 'satellite' option - to appreciate it's size). Surrounding the city's most iconic Deco building are civilised terraced tapas-bars/cafes - offering free wi-fi; along delightful shadey sidewalks. Abastos is immensely popular with savvy Valencianos & Madrilenas who appreciate the best value and higher levels of service & civility especially when compared to Carmen or the 'upwardly trendy' but somewhat intimidating side streets of Ruzafa. Be spoilt for choice! ie; the renowned Villaplana restaurant- since the '50's (see 'Lonely Planet) - Rausell (Chief ex El Bulli formerly Worlds No 1 acclaimed restaurant) & many other excellent eateries. Few Trip Adviser listed as mostly more national than international in culiniary offerings - all are within a 2-4min stroll.

Enjoy some of the best facilities the city offers. Forget late-night long wallks from the city's second favoured liveliest in-scene whilst staying at this apartment.. N.B metros finish @ 23.15 & location of many 'apart''-hotels' - invariably far-flung soulless & busy traffic laden corners of the city seriously lacking local ambiance. - possibly ideal criteria for business people! Why be get caught out?
City bike hire see www.valenbisi.es from 10€ weekly, Station No 25 at entrance of Abastos Mercado 1min walk & also corner of Juan LLorens 3mins. Excellent flat bike tracks around city to all beaches etc.
Metro @3min L5 direct for beaches @Angel Guimera within 17mins. Endulge yourselves in traditional Valenciano paella lunch at Hemingway's favoured beach restaurant 'La Pepica, or one of many on 'the fashionable Paseo Neptuno';overlooking fine Blue flag sandy beaches of Malverossa.

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Valencia Province region

Valencia is a great all-year round destination and seriously contends with Barcelona as one of Spain's premier cities for cultural attractions. A great choice of 'Blue flag' sandy beaches within 17mins L5 metro & the quirky eclectic fishermans quarter of Cabanyal (albeit Valencia's is a fine golden sand unlike Barcelona's offerings of coarse builders gravel! ), Excellent value nightlife, shopping, great bars and exceptionaly good value restaurants
Offering 300 days of glorious sunshine with an average temperature of 17c, Valencia puts Barcelona distinctly in the shade when it comes to real value and a true taste of authentic lively Spanish life with its refreshing lack of tourists.
Valencia's history stretches back more than 21 centuries to its founding under the Romans 138 B.C. Held by the Islamics from 700 A.D until 1100 until the arrival of Jaime I. Trading with all of the Mediterranean gave the city huge wealth and buildings such as the Cathedral and the Silk exchange ( Lonja) were built.
During the Spanish Civil War Valencia became the capital of the Republic and headquarters of the Government and Courts of Justice.(note the 'Deco 'Refugios' within the Centro Historico).
The Valencia / Valencia City Centre area
Valencia offers some fine Spanish architecture, old and radically new. The Plaza de la Virgen is the heart of the 'Centro Historico' with its resplendant Cathedral, the Miguelete tower and the nearby fine Baroque St Catalina tower. Nearby is the grandiose Rococo Marques de Dos Aquas Palace now home of the National Ceramics Museum. Closeby is the recently renovated fine Mercado Central one of Valencia's (Spain's largest) foremost Modernist buildings, worth a visit for the myriad of excellent fresh produce from the Huerta (Valencia's garden of Eden). Outside check out the great value cafes for 'watching the world go by. Opposite is the Gothic C.15 La Lonja, now UNESCO listed....absolutely stunning internally and externally....
A visit to the iconic City of Arts and Sciences is a must..
Easily accessible for classical music lovers are the Palau de Musica and the iconic Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia for world class opera. Both have on-line ticket sales etc. Sept - May
Europes largest Biopark is just two metro stops away. See and enjoy over 1000 different species and assist in their conservation.
For football fans the original Mestalla is three metro stops L3 & L5. The new Mestalla is six metro stops & Levante is 10mins taxi. The Ferias approx 15mins metro.

Easy to find, very clean and close to subway and with bars and restaurants just around the corner. It was perfect for our MotoGp trip. Easy to go to the track from the apartment (just one subway to train change needed). Walking distance to the old town. |

Guestbook for Apartment Calle Heroe Romeu
Thanks for the rental of your lovely apartment. We had a great time and will be recommending it to others.....' James Ryan, U.K, Feb , 2008
'Had a wonderful time in Valencia, again. The apartment was great, good location and very well equipped, thanks again, .....managed to get to the airport quickly and safely'. (-Early 5am check-out) Liselottte, Netherlands, April 2008.
'We like this area so much, that we have now booked again for June 2008'. Gabriele, Italy 2008 (2cd visit for 2008).
'Truelly a wonderful time. We enjoyed our fourteen days despite the hot weather. The apartment is nice in a fine neighbourhood.....we will be back !' Nic Papavoine, Holland August 2008.
First time for us renting an apartment . We found it worked really well... and so easy. We enjoyed the pleasure of coming back after a busy day to relax in our most comfortable spacious living area. Having the metro and train station so closeby - within easy walking distance with our luggage - was a bonus. Joel, U.S.A. March 2009.
'5 stars!.....the apartment is clean, comfortable and well located. I highly recommend this apartment to anyone considering somewhere to stay, to really enjoy Valencia.....' Stijn, Holland, April 2009.
'Fantastic location.......'We have stayed at this apartment before and after having our daughter. It's a terrific place to stay. Well kitted out with everything you could need. Owner was very helpful with advise etc.
The metro to airport is just 20 mins. Central to walk to many places - but also in a Spanish area so not bumping into tourists all the time...... Diane, London, March, 2009.
'We just wanted to say a big thank you for the apartment and for being so welcoming and friendly. The apartment was fantastic and we really enjoyed staying there! Anrrzej, Helena & Namrata, London, July 2009.
We relocated from Las Arenas (5* beach hotel) due to cancelled flights etc and found we really enjoyed the lively friendly location; much better then staying at the beach in fact which we found to be rather quiet at night and the neighbourhood one street back from the beach was rather depressing and too intimidating! We found your apartment was quick and easy for getting to and from the beach - within 20mins on the metro/tram and was an easy walk to the city centre.
We found Abastos had so many interesting and friendly bars and cafes to go and check out every time we were out and about. Valencia we thought is really so under-rated with all its great buildings and wonderful attractions and its really superb city beaches. We found your flat and its location perfect, quiet, comfy and well equipped compared to many other flats we've rented and really very convenent. We intend to be back and we shall certainly be telling our friends back home. Steve and Elizabeth Midlands April 2010.
We all had a great time and really enjoyed the comforts of your lovely apartment. We appreciated the friendly and lively area of Abastos and the quick and easy metro down to the beach etc. Maeve and friends Dublin, August 2010.
We really appreciated the lively and civilised locality. Popping out for a coffee couldn't have been more pleasurable as there is so much choice. Having recently stayed opposite the City of Arts and Science which we in fact found to be rather soulless and very sterile (..fine if trendy shopping malls and bling is what your after) necessitating walks of over 20 mins or more either to the nearest metro or just anywhere with some signs of real life!. Neal & family Oct 2010
