Valencia's history stretches back more than 21 centuries to its founding under the Romans 138 B.C. Held by the Islamics from 700 A.D until 1100 until the arrival of Jaime I. Trading with all of the Mediterranean gave the city huge wealth and buildings such as the Cathedral and the Silk exchange ( Lonja) were built.
During the Spanish Civil War Valencia became the capital of the Republic and headquarters of the Government and Courts of Justice.(note the protected status 'Deco 'Refugios' within the Centro Historico).
Valencia offers some fine Spanish architecture, old and radically new. The Plaza de la Virgen is the heart of the 'Centro Historico' with its resplendant Cathedral, the Miguelete tower and the nearby fine Baroque St Catalina tower. Nearby is the grandiose Rococo Marques de Dos Aquas Palace now home of the National Ceramics Museum. Closeby is the recently renovated fine Mercado Central one of Valencia's (Spain's largest) foremost Modernist buildings, worth a visit for the myriad of excellent fresh produce from the Huerta (Valencia's garden of Eden). Outside check out the great value cafes for 'watching the world go by. Opposite is the Gothic C.15 La Lonja, now UNESCO listed....absolutely stunning internally and externally....

Easily accessible for classical music lovers are the Palaus de Musica and de les Arts - Reina Sofia
Europes largest Biopark is just two metro stops away over 1000 different species and assist in their conservation.
For football fans the original Mestalla is three metro stops L3 & L5. The new Mestalla (awaiting finishing touches!) is six metro stops & Levante is 10mins taxi. The International Ferias is approx 15min direct metro.

"Great Apartment, Highly Recommended"
I recently stayed at this apartment with my teenage daughter during a short trip to Valencia. This was the first time I had rented a city apartment rather than booking into a hotel and it certainly won't be the last.
The previous reviews gave us confidence that this would be a good choice and we were not disappointed - excellent value for money with a spacious living area and far more freedom and comfort than we would have had from a similar priced hotel booking.
The proximity of the metro makes travel to and from the airport and to other locations very simple and we found David to be extremely welcoming and helpful.
We thouroughly enjoyed our trip (we found the people to be friendly and warm wherever we went despite our lack of Spanish) and would recommend both the apartment and the location to anyone looking for a short city break with a beautiful beach thrown in!
I'm pleased that you found my apartment comfortable & spacious & enjoyed the greater flexibility & good value of city self-catering & appreciated the ease of accessing all the city's finest attractions. Valencia's metro offers fantastic value & its major hub ie; Angel Guimera @2-3mins walk couldn't be easier for nipping down to Malverossa beach etc. In fact all the beaches closeby are really excellent (mostly 'Blue flag'rated) and take some beating with their offerings of fine golden sand, daily cleaning, plentiful fresh-water showering facilities & lifeguard survelliance on all the major beaches. "Affordable, well-situated, clean and equipped"
This was the first apartment I've rented (instead of a staying at a hotel). I'll likely travel this way again. David the manager was very helpful, going beyond what I would have expected. He helped organize an extra key pickup for another guest who was staying with me and arrived later.
I've lived in Europe myself, so my tastes and needs we well accommodated in this flat. The location was wonderful. I walked everywhere easily and often alone. The city is extremely walkable anyway, within 15 mins I was in the old city. The Metro was 4 mins away by foot too. Next time, I'll use it to and from the airport.
The flat was on the 7th floor and aside from a neighbor's loud TV, that was off by 9 pm, it was perfectly quiet for being right in the middle of the city. The street is actually very quiet.

"Pleasant and easy stay and located close to good public transportation"
Easy to find, very clean and close to subway and with bars and restaurants just around the corner.
It was perfect for our MotoGp trip. Easy to go to the track from the apartment (just one subway to train change needed). Walking distance to the old town.
Thanks for your kind recommendations - it's a fact amongst both the locals and the Spanish from further afield that the location of Abastos makes for a great convenient & civilised location as mentioned in Lonely Planet and other guides of merit with appeal to both business people and visitors alike who appreciate easy bus/metro links to - Palau's del Congress/Ferias/Mestalla etc - with easy walks to the city centre combined with an easy direct metro access to some of the finest city beaches. Thus enjoying a more interesting & authentic Spanish flavoured experience...

Wonderful place to staty in Valencia iwth great location. David was very helpful in guiding us through activities in Valencia. We were ther for the Formula 1 race and the location and access to the subway was priceless. Ammenities were great too. Definitively will stay again next time.
