The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Valencia Province region
Valencia is a great all-year round destination and one of Spain's premier cities for culture, beaches, nightlife, shopping and restaurants. It is certainly a very "up and coming city"! With over 300 days of sunshine a year and an average temperature of 17C, Valencia has one of the mildest climates in Europe. Despite low rainfall it is one of the greenest cities in Europe thanks to the beautiful landscaped gardens in the bed of the now diverted River Turia which winds through the city. Valencia's history stretches back more than 21 centuries to its founding under the Romans 138 B.C. Under Islamic rule from 700 until 1100 AD, when King Jaime I made it the capital of his kingdom. Trading with all of the Mediterranean gave the city huge wealth and buildings such as the Cathedral and the Silk exchange ( Lonja) were built.
Valencia / Valencia City Centre area
Valencia has some of the most beautiful architecture in Spain. Valencia's main central squares (La Plaza del Ayuntamiento and La Plaza de la Reina) are about 10 minutes' walk from the apartment. Stroll back from La Plaza de la Reina via the cathedral (started in 1262) and see the views from its 68 metre bell tower, La Plaza de la Virgen with lots of outdoor cafes, the Barrio del Carmen (famous for its nightlife) and Las Torres de Serranos (the other remaining gates to the old city.) From La Plaza del Ayuntamiento return via the Central Market (one of Europe's finest indoor markets housed in an impressive modernist building) and La Lonja (an exquisite Late Gothic hall built as a silk exchange). La Plaza del Ayuntamiento is the centre of the action from March1st-19th during Las Fallas, Valencia's most famous festival. Bring your earplugs if you are visiting Valencia from the 15th-19th and enjoy the fireworks! Another must-see attraction is Calatrava's City of Arts and Sciences, an incredible modern work of art housing an aquarium, a science museum, an IMAX cinema and an opera house. The port area in Valencia has being turned into a modern sailing centre for the America's Cup competitions.

•The apartment is reached from the airport within 30 mins by taxi. Direct airport link by metro, cost: 1.70€, take line 3 and 4. About 45mins from airport. A regular bus runs from the airport every 20/30 mins to city centre. Approximately 20 mins travelling time and €2 per person. •Cheap flights to Valencia with easyjet.com from Gatwick, Stanstead or Bristol, with ryanair.com from Stanstead or East Midlands, Stockolm, with clickair.com from Heathrow and with vueling.com from Amsterdam, Brussels,Milan or Paris. And with Thomson travel, Iberia. B.A fly daily from London and other UK airports. Alternative airports include Alicante (1:30 hours) and Murcia (2:00 hours). • National Express Eurolines run a coach service from London Victoria to Valencia twice weekly

The house was fantastic, great quiet location, close to the Metro line which made getting around the City really easy, it was excellently located for Supermarkets and small friendly restaurants. The house had everything we needed and was very tidy, Luis the owner made us feel extremely welcome especially upon arrival, his kind guide throughout the house and its facilities and also the tour guide around the surrounding area was very useful!
