The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Valencia Province region

Valencia has over 2.8 km of beaches, all with excellent facilities and services. The Arenas and Malvarrosa beaches are just 15 Km. from the house and easily reached via train to City Centre on the metro, own car.
Just next to Arenas and Malvarrosa is the Paseo Marítimo, a magnificent sea-front promenade, where you can enjoy walking, roller skating, jogging, sun bathing or stop at a restaurant for a delicious paella and a glass of wine.
The city of Valencia traces of different civilizations, which have left their cultural legacy. Founded by the Romans in the second century B.C., it was overrun by the Visigoths and later by the Arabs. These turned the city into an essential economic and cultural centre. The Arab heritage still remains in agriculture and traditional craftsmanship, particularly in the irrigation systems and the growing of rice and oranges.
The cultural mixture grants the city and their inhabitants a warm, cheerful and open nature. Valencia is, beyond any doubt, a jewel for any visitor.
Fallas ( March 14th to 19th )
It is doubtless, the most popular holiday that takes place in the city and in any town of the province. In Fallas the city is visited, year after year, by tourists that come from lots of different countries.
It is in this special week that Valencia honours best the adjectives that define it: light, colour, fire and powder join together for the visitor’s enjoyment, who watches with excitement the daily “mascletà” (controlled and progressive explosion of millions of crackers) in the City Hall Square or the fireworks, which reach its highest peak of beauty in the Nit del Foc (Night of Fire).

Museums in Valencia
The province of Valencia has different cultural possibilities and offers and the tourist will be able to visit a lot of museums, some of them of international fame.
It constitutes one of the most shocking buildings among those inside the City of Arts and Science. It possesses exhibitions related to the topics of science and technology, and it is conceived as an interactive museum where the visitor discovers on his own, through didactic procedures, how progress has contributed to improve our standards of living.
Valencia is a land of musicians, painters and scientists, a mixture that explains the reason for a City of Arts and Science. A real futurist city integrated in an city area of 350.000 m2 located in the old bed of the river Turia. It has four magnificent buildings where avant guard and creativity blend together in an image of shocking beauty: L'Hemisfèric, the Museum of Science Príncipe Felipe, the Oceanographic Park and the Palace of Arts.
This architectonic space dedicated to arts and science includes exhibition halls, laser shows and an interactive museum.
FINE ARTS MUSEUM (San Pío V 9)
It’s the second Art Gallery in Spain, after the Museum El Prado in Madrid, and it’s specialized in Gothic paintings. It has 2.000 works, among which many pictures by Valencian artists of the XIV and XV centuries are outstanding.
It also has interesting collections of modern art, sculptures and archaeological pieces.
MUSEUM FALLERO (Plaza de Monteolivete 4)
It contains a collection of the prized “ninots” (cardboard figures that are part of the Fallas monuments) saved from the fire since 1934. It also includes photographies of the best Fallas and the advertising posters which have won the annual contest.
Its complement is the Museum of the Fallero Artist.
THE CITY HALL
A building of eclectic style combining neo-baroque and other elements from different architectural schools, it was built at the beginning of the century on the same spot where the old Casa de Enseñanza had been. Inside, the main stairs, the Crystal Hall, the semicircular Hall where the city government members meet and the Historical Records Office.
BARRIO DEL CARMEN
It is the oldest neighbourhood of the city, and it contains, in its houses, palaces and streets, most of the history of Valencia. You can still see a great part of the old constructions: narrow streets, irregular blocks and specially worth admiring are the old palaces which belonged to the medieval noble families of the city or the Roman and Arab ruins. Little by little, many of the old house have become restaurants, and nowadays this is one of the finest leisure zones in the city with bars, terraces and modern pubs.
