Enjoy the best of both worlds as the lodge offers both a relaxing holiday in pretty countryside with swift, easy access to the lovely city of Valencia. Combine the sights of this impressive city, its baroque architecture and modern city for the sciences, with relaxing around the large pool in pretty gardens. Don Quixote lodge is a bit different from most Spanish villas as it is constructed of wood and has a unique, natural atmosphere. Although the lodge is surrounded by vines, orange groves and pine forest it is still convenient as there is a supermarket and little bars 5 minutes drive away. It is in a fantastic location for the MotoGP circiut, and don't miss the Tomatina (tomato throwing) festival in Bunol. There are also many unspoilt beaches nearby, including the pretty beaches of El Saler national park. Because of the Lodge's proximity to Valencia, you can enjoy Las Fallas festival in March and the many other festivals on offer in the city. The lodge is ideal for winter breaks as it has heating. It also has wifi and an international satellite T.V system so you can watch freeview English T.V channels. The lodge can also be combined with our apartment in the heart of Valencia city centre, so you could spend some time in the countryside and a few days in the city centre. To view the apartment go to property reference 117399.

The Valenciana region
Situated only 20 minutes from Valencia City and the lovely, unspoilt beaches of Albufera national park, the lodge is an ideal base for exploring the many sights this area has to offer. Valencia is a stunning mix of traditional baroque churches, cathedral, art galleries, narrow streets, grand avenues and ultra modern architecture. The city is lively, full of great places to shop nestling next to little back streets teeming with pavement cafes and tapas bars. Take a walk along the long promende, sunbathe on the city beaches and enjoy a paella in a local beachfront restaurants. For nature lovers and families the pretty unspoilt lagoon and safe, clean beaches of Albufera national park are a must. Enjoy a trip around the lagoon in a gondola and walk in the beachside pine forest and sand dunes. Valencia has so much to do all year-round. The Biopark is a zoo without cages, it's great for kids and is modelled on the Serengeti so that you can walk around it and view the animals in their natural environment.
Valencia also has Europe's largest aquarium and a large Science and technology museum in the stunning City for the Sciences. There are numerous art galleries, and many festivals- don't miss the famous Fallas festival, Las Reyes, San Juan, the Tomato throwing tomatina and local bull runs.
Also, have fun bargain hunting! There are daily street markets that are great fun not just in Valencia city, but also in the surrounding towns and villages. Valencia has a kind climate, so it is sunny in winter too, and although it can be a bit chilly the skies are generally blue!
The Valencia area is one of contrasts. The bustling, beautiful city and the pretty, peaceful surrounding countryside. The lodge itself is in the area of Calicanto, between Godelleta and Cheste, and is surrounded by pine forest, orange groves and vines. The lodge is nearer to the quaint town of Cheste which is dominated by an impressive Basilica.
Cheste is only 10 minutes away and has plenty of little bars and restaurants scattered among its narrow streets and squares. It is the home of the MotoGP final, so the lodge is in a terrific location for the circuit. There are many festivals nearby, including the Tomatina as Bunyol is just 15 minutes away, but there are also many bull runs in the local towns in summer that are great fun too. For wine lovers the medieval town of Requena is a must. Requena is the oldest wine producing region in Spain and is 30 minutes away. The pretty, ancient town clings to a hillside with a fort in the middle and caves beneath.
You can visit the Bodegas, take a tour of the caves and visit the bustling street market on Saturday morning. In February Requena hosts a sausage festival as it is also famous for its embutidos, and in August there is the wine tasting festival featuring traditional local music, parades and dancing.

"Super villa and super hosts"
We arrived on an evening flight to be met by a smilingGina the owner of the lodge at the airport, Gina had also organised a taxi. The lodge was only a 20 minute drive away. Gina also had some food and drinks for all the family waiting for us in the fridge as we had arranged.
We spent two wonderful weeks at the lodge enjoying the tranquility of being away from the City. The pool was a welcome relief during the very hot days.
Whilst we were there both Gina and George were very helpful with tips and guidance on what to do. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
The lodge itself is handily placed near the bus route to Valencia; a one way ticket into Valencia costing a reasonable €2.20 and the buses are quite comfortable.
A short walk takes you into the local village with a choice of 3 places to eat and drink and a small bakery. Bar e Tono is the best in our view and well worth a visit. The menu del dia being €8 per person for an amazing 5 courses including the beer!
We were able to enjoy the city itself and still have some great tranquility. George and Gina were excellent hosts and we'd definitely come again.

"A relaxing holiday in rural Spain"
We were met by Gina and George who own the property and our welcome could not have been warmer.
Throughout our stay nothing was too much trouble for them and they were helpful and pleasant whenever we needed anything.
The house was roomy and comfortable and both upper and lower balconies were a real bonus. The kitchen was well equipped and the non - matching crockery added a homely and charming quirkiness which was reflected throughout the house.
The pool was great and well maintained - a real treat all to ourselves!
Given the rural setting, a car is advisable as the local bus, shops etc are a 10 minute walk away. The surrounding villages are interesting and Valencia is magnificent.

I and my family have had the pleasure of staying in this property every year for the past nine years.
The house is spacious, airy and is well presented. Facilities are good, The house itself is comfortable and eminently suitable for families.Well equiped for up to eight people. The swimming pool is real bonus, surrounding planting is typical of the region. The owners are very hospitable, welcoming and helpful. The situation is semi rural, although a bus service into the city exists, a hire car is very useful in order to enjoy the surrounding districts.
