About the home

Chulilla is famous for its healing mineral waterfalls, deep canyons, caves, medieval castle, fishing, walking, restaurants, and rock climbing. But it is also well known to the locals as a hidden oasis which is why even the Spanish like to keep it a secret.
This elegantly reformed mountain villa is nessled on the Ermita mountains surrounded by pine forests.
Ideal for those wanting to lounge by the pool, entertain friends and family or practice some Yoga on pool deck. Its a villla that suits young and old members of the family. The Outside terraces are ideal relaxing places with sofas to flop and read, the kids wont leave the pool, the men wont leave the BBQ! and the women can relax for a change. Serve dinner Al fresco on the balcony over looking the mountains with a glass of wine.
4 roomy modern bedrooms, one with en-suite. Large Scandinavian style kitchen - perfect for cooking in large groups. A sofa-bed is also provided with linen in the main lounge area if you have up to 10 people staying.

Large Scandinavian style kitchen. Gas cooker hob with extractor fan & electric oven. Cooking equipment and outdoor BBQ equipment is provided. You can purchase BBQ charcoal from the village shop.
Many Dining areas to eat (kitchen, balcony, BBQ area) This kitchen was designed with large numbers of people in mind, easy to cook without bumping into anyone. All 4 bedrooms and the lounge have standing silent fans, shuttered windows and double wardrobes and all bedding is provided. There is an extra sofa bed in the living room. Bed linen and one bath towel each is provided. but not bathing/beach towels. You must bring your own towels for the beach.

Note: Washing machine - is NOT available so please bring enough clothes with you. You can always hand wash if necessary.

Wifi is available at the villa for €35 per week. you will need to bring your laptop - we will supply you with an access code.

Included with every booking is a breakfast hamper with the essentials to get you going until you have settled in to go shopping. Also included is a welcome pack with leaflets of all the things to do in Valencia, as well as information on the rental home and village.

As a courtesy we include some basics to get you started. From washing up liquid, hand soap to loo rolls and kitchen towles. Once thes things are used up we do not stock up again for you. As this is a self catering villa you will be required to supply your own things for the remainder of your stay.

For those with babies - 2 travel cots are available at no extra charge but please let us know in advance so we can set this up for you before you arrive. The cots do come with baby blankets and sheets so no need to bring your own ones. A baby paddling pool and is also available free of charge and can be set up on the deck under the marquee. 2 High chairs can also be provided as well as changing matts and a potty. Notify us if you would like to request these so we can have this waiting for you in the villa.
A toy box has also been provided in the lounge area for all bookings with children. From soft plush toys to little people play sets, some story books, toy cars and building blocks. we also have baby rattles and puzzles for very little ones.
The box also might include a few beach basics like a bucket and spade and some other toys to keep the little ones entertained - we aim to provide a good selection so your children dont get bored. we cannot garantee which toys will be at the villa on your arrival.

For those wanting to escape into the chulillan countryside, 2 adult mountain bikes are avaliable for hire at only £10 per bike per week. Visit the local lakes and aquaducts, cycling is a perfect way to get around chulilla. Its also a nice way to head into the village for a few drinks. It should take you 2 minutes to cycle into the village but its up hill on the way back!

You can hire some bikes for an afternoon to the lakes and stop for a drink in the village on the way back home.
For those MOTO GP bike fans, CHESTE race track is just 40 minutes away. Races are normally free to watch on the weekends.
Valencia is still hosting the FORMULA 1 Grand prix races in Valencia city. .
There's always something to do. Just hop in the car and your'll be in Valencia city in 45 minutes.
For those Golf fans, head to Chiva (el bosque 30 minutes drive from the villa) - or Betera for a easier course towards the beaches in El Saler.
For those slightly out of season visitors who like to ski or snowboard. The Javalambre Ski Resort is situated just 1.5 hrs drive inland from the villa and offers a great range of facilities and courses for all levels of experience.
Please note: We are not part of a chain of hotels, we have provided a comprehensive amount of catering equipment to suit a mid range of cooking needs and cannot provide as many utensils/kitchen gadgets as you would have in your own home.

Further details outdoors:
Decked porch lounge area - ideal to relax in the shade and watch the kids in the pool. 6 cushioned sun loungers are provided on the deck, along an additional 4 sun chairs, a table and sun umbrellas.
We also have an inflatable baby paddling pool, which you can fill up on the deck if you wish to do so - please let us know in advance so we can have this ready for your arrival.
For those wanting to do some YOGA , the large decked area by the pool provides a tranquil and calm space.
NEW THIS SUMMER! Mobile professonal hairdresser is now available for those wanting to book cut and colours at the villa. Freelance hairdresser has 15 years experience at a UK salon and can accomodate family/ group bookings or single cuts on request. Good rates (much cheaper than uk prices) so why not return home looking refreshed and restyled!

This is our home so please treat with respect. We want you to be comfortable and have a fantastic stay. If you would like a longer term stay for courses etc please contact me as well. We are now offering a corporate service for Yoga groups, painting classes, guitar groups, walking groups, we welcome all teachers of all groups. email with any enquiries.

Conditions

Pets - we are happy to welcome your fury friend into our home. Please email me with details of your pet in your enquiry. We charge 5 pounds per night for dogs -
Smoking is permitted at the villa but not inside the house. Ash trays are provided on the balcony, garden and sun decked areas.
All bookings are made with a deposit and rental contract, A securirty fee will also be required which you will have returned to you once departed from the villa provided nothing has been broken.

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Valencia Province region

Chulilla enjoys a mild climate. At around 322m above sea level and protected by the surrounding mountains, in both summer and winter the temperatures remain very pleasant. The average winter temperature is between 10 and 15 degrees, whilst in summer it hovers between 25 and 35 degrees. There are many places of interest in Chulilla which is just a 15 minute stroll from the villa. Lakes, waterfalls, castle ruins, ancient church, incredible gorge and canyon. Professional climbers flock to Chulilla on the weekends to climb the impressive canyon walls which tower over the blue lakes. The white washed town square offers restaurants, bars, cafes, Chemist, hardware store, mini supermarket, bakers and butcher shops, newsagents and its own tourist information office.

The Valencia / Chulilla area

Year after year Chulilla´s traditions are brought back to life and enjoyed by villagers and visitors alike. The two most important fiestas are "La Enrama" and "Las Cruces": ( The Festival of Crosses ).
Open air concerts in Chulilla run all year round but August and September are the best times to see a mix of classical music to modern music. The village square in the centre of the village is a lively place on the weekends and quiet during the week. Ideal for soaking up the local summer festivites while tasting the tapas in one of the bars. All the bars have outside seating and tables with umbrellas and there is a fountain in the middle where some of the village children play to cool off in the summer. In the evenings the bars and restaurants offer great local food and the hosts enjoy pampering their guests. We have recommendations where all our guests have visited time again, so you wont be dissapointed. Other Local Activities include; Rock Climbing, Fishing, swimming, horse riding, as well as viewing plenty of wildlife. There is a weekly market in the village square where you can purchase clothes, antiques, fabrics, ethnic jewelery, fresh fruit and veg. Valencia is only a 50kms drive away. If you want to see the famous beaches, museums, America´s cup races, ports, shopping malls, Océanagraphic Aquarium, Las Fallas fiesta, The old town and tapas bars and the Grand Prix race track, Valencia is the place to visit for a daytrip. Lliria town (25mins away) offers a larger weekly market, shopping and big supermarkets.

“A great villa in an awesome rural location” I spent 8 nights here with 4 friends (all 27 year old guys) in August 2011; we were looking to relax, laze by the pool, drinks lots of beer in the sun and enjoy the countryside. The villa was great, with a lovely swimming pool, good sized living areas, lots of decking, good furnishings and a quiet location up in the hills of Chulilla. Georgina and Jason were both very helpful and easy going, and the house came equipped with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The town itself is a nice, dozy little place but Valencia, or closer, Lliria aren't too far away. There's plenty to do including treks, waterfalls, lakes, hills and the beautiful scenery abounds everywhere you look. Definitely recommended if you like countryside, epic nature, a great pool/decking for BBQs, sunbathing etc.

“Absolutely fabulous villa in a beautiful location” This is a beautiful, well equipped villa in a beautiful rural area of Spain. The villa is spacious and clean. The kitchen is very well equipped to cater for large parties. The outside space is wonderful, lots of seating in different areas, shaded and sunny. The pool is lovely, clean and cool. The local village is about 10 minutes walk away, it is beautiful, perched on the edge of a really impressive gorge. We would go down for early evening drinks in the square and watch the world go by! Will say that it is worth knowing a little bit of Spanish, as not many people can speak English, but everybody we met was really friendly and accommodating with our lack of the native tongue! All in all we had a fantastic 2 weeks here with family and friends.

“stay passed all our expectations” we spent in the house for a week in June and had the very good times. We strongly recommend a stay there. The house, garden and swimming pool very pleasant and beautiful. environment all wonderful and great experience to stay in the countryside in the beautiful surroundings and a little Spanish countryside. owners of houses in every way superior, and all of our expectations have been met. thanks so much for us. “Beautiful house, pool and location with friendly, very helpful owners” We arrived in the pitch dark but still found the house easily after a pleasant 40 min drive from Valencia airport and a very steep climb up a rough road (our compact car which was very full still managed it no problem though). The local area is very beautiful and the views from the house are fantastic. It's a great place for cycling, walking or running with amazing scenery. You do need to embrace the local timekeeping in Chulilla and head out early for bread etc as the shops do shut generally from 1400-1900. Chulilla itself is very quaint and the locals were friendly and welcoming. Try Casa Barbara in the square for tapas. For real supermarket shopping you do need to travel about 20 mins by car to a neighbouring town. The pool is very deep but gated and our 5 year olds thought it was fantastic. The house itself is all on one level and there are lots of different places to hang out and eat meals. The balcony off the lounge was a favourite in the evenings, with a great view of the sunset. Overall we would really recommend this property and the owners were most helpful and friendly. The only down side is the very steep access to the house from the main road which wasn't suitable for a buggy, but was fine for adults strolling back in the evening (after several samples of he local excellent red wine). We had a fantastic holiday.

“Fantastic Holiday” We stayed at Rural Retreat in August 2009, 2 families (4 adults and 3 children). We loved the accommodation it was in a quiet location with fabulous views, lovely pool, very comfortable, homely and restful, with so many places to sit, lie, eat and relax it was tempting not to leave the villa. The local town with its evening gatherings was magical. Our trips out mostly off the beaten track, were adventurous, the kids loved finding different places to swim in rivers and lakes. We had an enjoyable day on the beach in Valencia the sea was fantastic, we also took part in the tomato festival in Bunol which was an experience. I would definitely recommend this villa, to make your stay even better take advantage of the area and what it has to offer.

“Beautiful hillside retreat, idyllic and relaxing holiday rental” We stayed here on a B & B basis and would just like to say what fantastic hosts Georgina and Jason were. They were very helpful with advice and suggestions for planning our outings and always made sure we had a hearty breakfast before we left for the day! George even took it upon herself to came out to find us in a rain storm with towels... Very thoughtful! We felt very at home during our stay and were in no hurry to fly back! The villa is situated up a very rough road, halfway up a mountainside, nestled in a woodland. It has various terraces to sit on and decking around the pool, with fantastic views across the valley. The villa is clean, tidy and comfortable. Chulilla is fabulous for walking, cycling, climbing and scrambling, along with many other outdoor activities. There are local lakes and waterfalls which can be swam in though the summer. The whole area has stunning scenery and the canyon is mouth dropping. Valencia is about 40 minutes away by car, and well worth a day or two to visit. Would not be too far to go for a beach visit either. I will definitely return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this rental to anyone.

I don´t think I´ve slept and rested so much!. I love the features of this house. Especially the wooden porch area which reminds me of my holidays in Africa. Its a very creative atmosphere and a great place to share the cooking with two families. Highly recommended - Thanks for everything X TL& Co

Thanks so much, we have had a great holiday - Chulilla is a great little town. We've enjoyed sitting in the square eating Tapas al fresco and also at the 'barbara' restaurant. The house has so many lovely different places to eat and relax in, we've used them all!
Your management staff have been really helpful and been here when ever we've needed help. Ali and I have done lots of YOGA on the deck and will always remember the scent of the pines!
