Home description

The apartment has been recently renovated but retains many of its original turn of the century features (doors, arched ceilings and beams) which give it its character. There are 3 double bedrooms, 2 modern bathrooms and an open-plan living area with a fully equipped kitchen. The apartment is situated just inside the 15th Century Torres de Quart and all the bedrooms look directly onto these impressive gates to the old city.

The apartment is perfectly located for visitors wishing to explore Valencia city as most attractions are within easy walking distance. The Mercado Central, one of Europe's finest indoor markets is just at the end of the road and the Botanical Gardens are just 2 mins' walk. The number 5 bus (el bus touristic) stops outside the building and at various places of interest. Buses to Calatrava's famous City of Arts and Sciences, La Malvarrosa (Valenica's city beach) and the America's Cup port stop 5 mins from the apartment. For those visitors wishing to experience the best of the city's nightlife, the Barrio del Carmen is just 10 mins' walk and is home to dozens of restaurants, bars and Valencia's best tapas.

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Valencia Province region

Valencia is Spain's third largest city and lies in the middle of a plain of orange groves and market gardens. It has a warm coastal climate and is well-known for its outdoor living. Despite low rainfall it is one of the greenest cities in Europe thanks to the beautiful landscaped gardens in the bed of the now diverted River Turia which winds through the city. L'Albufera lake and nature reserve as well as miles of dune-backed beaches lie to the south of the city.

Valencia / Valencia City Centre area

Both of Valencia's main central squares (La Plaza del Ayuntamiento and La Plaza de la Reina) are about 10 minutes' walk from the apartment. Stroll back from La Plaza de la Reina via the cathedral (started in 1262) and see the views from its 68 metre bell tower, La Plaza de la Virgen with lots of outdoor cafes, the Barrio del Carmen (famous for its nightlife) and Las Torres de Serranos (the other remaining gates to the old city.) From La Plaza del Ayuntamiento return via the Central Market (one of Europe's finest indoor markets housed in an impressive modernist building) and La Lonja (an exquisite Late Gothic hall built as a silk exchange).

La Plaza del Ayuntamiento is the centre of the action from March1st-19th during Las Fallas, Valencia's most famous festival. Bring your earplugs if you are visiting Valencia from the 15th-19th and enjoy the fireworks!

Another must-see attraction is Calatrava's City of Arts and Sciences, an incredible modern work of art housing an aquarium, a science museum, an IMAX cinema and an opera house.

• Cheap flights to Valencia with easyjet.com from Gatwick, Stanstead or Bristol, with ryanair.com from Stanstead or East Midlands, with clickair.com from Heathrow and with vueling.com from Amsterdam, Brussels, Milan or Paris.
• The apartment is 10 minutes' drive from the airport (approx. 15€ in a taxi)
• Or take the airport bus to the train station (2.50€, every 20 minutes) and walk to the apartment (15 minutes) or catch the number 5 bus from the station
• National Express Eurolines run a coach service from London Victoria to Valencia twice weekly

A 25% deposit is required to secure your booking and we ask that the full amount be paid by bank transfer 1 month before your holiday begins.

A deposit of £200 / 300 euros is required against damages/breakages. This can be paid in cash on arrival or at the same time as the settlement of the booking. Sorry, we cannot accept cheques.

We (3 adults, 2 children) stayed in the apartment for 6 nights over Christmas 2007. It was perfect. The apartment is extremely comfortable and very well furnished and is in a fantastic position for exploring Valencia. Just about everything is close enough to visit on foot, even the city of arts and sciences, if you like walking. The combination of the apartment and its position make this an excellent place to stay to explore the fantastic city of Valencia. We stayed at this apartment during Las Fallas this past March 2008. The apartment is very comfortable (we were four adults) and well equipped. This is a great place to stay in Valencia any time of the year, but we especially enjoyed staying there during Las Fallas. The owners are a pleasure to do business with.
