The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Valencia Province region

Valencia is a great all-year round destination and now vies with Barcelona as one of Spain's premier cities for culture, beaches, nightlife, shopping and restaurants. It is certainly a very "up and coming city"! With over 300 days of sunshine a year and an average temperature of 17C, Valencia has one of the mildest climates in Europe.
Valencia's history stretches back more than 21 centuries to its founding under the Romans 138 B.C. Under Islamic rule from 700 until 1100 AD, when King Jaime I made it the capital of his kingdom. Trading with all of the Mediterranean gave the city huge wealth and buildings such as the Cathedral and the Silk exchange ( Lonja) were built.

Valencia / Valencia City Centre area

Valencia has some of the most beautiful architecture in Spain, or even Europe. From medieval to Gothic to Art Nouveau to cutting edge. At the centre of the old city is Plaza de la Virgen with the impressive Cathedral and the Miguelete tower. Around the corner from here is the completely over the top Rococo-style Marques de Dos Aquas Palace with outrageous marble interiors and exteriors! It is now home to the National Ceramics museum. The city has spectacular modernist buildings such as the beautiful Central Market and the fully renovated Colon Market. For modern architecture you should visit the City of Arts and Sciences between the port and the old town. Here the Calatrava-designed buildings include a large aquarium, a Science museum and the fabtastic Palau de las Artes, a state of the art opera and classical music venue.
The port area in Valencia is also currently being turned into a modern sailing centre in preparation for the America's Cup competitions in 2007.

Guestbook

"Very nice and clean, good space, pleasantly decorated with no clutter, all amenities (loved the bathroom!), good location - you can walk to most places of interest, very nice and helpful owners. We were unlucky to have a few very rainy days, but didn't mind to stay indoors! TV, stereo, broadband, well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds - a place to relax even when you're stuck indoors. Will certainly go back." Ms L Magda

"We had a brilliant break. Valencia is fantastic. We loved the apartment. Not often do the photos on the website actually match up with reality but with the apartment, the real thing was even better. What we look for in a holiday flat is location, location, location (of course), but also somewhere clean, modern and spacious. The flat was excellently located just over the bridge from the going out area, so we felt we were escaping it all when we went home. We found some great little local tapas bars near the flat too. It was really easy to get to everywhere from the flat. Valencia is fairly compact but it was good to have the tram line nearby as well. Everything in the flat was great too. Down to every detail. It was perfectly presented and was great as the owner had got us tea, coffee, bottled water.... all these details helped to make it a unforgettable stay. We would definitely book again."
