BookThe Costa Blanca / Valencia / Valencia Province region
Just behind the bullring and historic station lies the buzzing Russafa district of Valencia.
This is one of the oldest barrios and it is also one of the trendiest with lots of pavement cafes, galleries and interesting little shops.
It is close to all Valencia's sights and yet it isn't touristy and has a local atmosphere all of its own.
The apartment is right in the centre of this lovely area, with a fantastic indoor food market nearby so that you can sample those delicious Spanish delicacies.
The Valencia / Valencia City Centre area
Valencia is a hidden gem! All of our guests have loved this city and have found it friendlier, safer and a lot more interesting than its rival, Barcelona.
Beautiful baroque churches, basilicas and grand 17th & 19th century architecture make walking around this city a joy. It is a vibrant place, but not over touristy- retaining its traditional Spanish identity. There is so much to see and do for those looking for a cultural experience, a gourmet break or a chance to bring their children to a city that really welcomes them.
The stunning modern architecture of the City of the Sciences houses the largest aquarium in Europe, so big there are even whales in it! The biopark open zoo is a must, especially for children (it's fab for adults too!). Wander around this zoo and see the animals in their native habitat, without looking through cages, as the area is landscaped to resemble the Serengeti.
There are many art galleries to visit and parks to wander through, or hire a bike to get you around the city. Be sure to enjoy a paella as this is the traditional dish of this city and is available everywhere as a starter. Back street, local restaurants are the best for this with a three course lunch costing as little as 9 euros including a glass of wine. After lunch join the locals for a siesta on the beach whilst topping up your tan.
Good tip for the girls... come with a little room in your suitcase for bargains from the daily morning street/flea markets. Fashion accessories, shoes and clothes are fun and cheap! In the afternoon take an open topped bus to the lagoons of the stunning Albufuera National Park and enjoy a trip on a gondola.
Valencia also hosts major sporting events including F1 street racing at the end of June in 2010, the Moto GP final in Oct/Nov, and you could also take in the electric atmosphere at one of the Valencia football matches. There are also many spectacular fiestas throughout the year, Las Fallas being the most famous, but easter and the kings on 5th-6th January are good to see too.

My lovely other and me stayed here with my sin for 3 nights in December. The apartment was extremely spacious and in the perfect location to walk into the centre of Valencia (10-15 mins). There are lots if really nice cares and restaurants on the doorstep too if you want to stay local. Try Copenhagen round the corner for a great vegetarian meal. The apartment has everything you would want and the basement garage is a bonus if you have a car. Gina and George looked after us really well and I 'd highly recommend their apartment to anyone staying in Valencia short or long term. |

We came to Valencia to run the marathon, stayed on to do another race the following weekend, and used this apartment as our base. Gina was very helpful when planning the trip and met us at the airport on arrival. Almost everything in central Valencia can be reached on foot and, for anything further afield, the main station & metro are 5-10 minutes walk. Russafa market is just a couple of streets away, there's also a bakery across the road and supermarket around the corner. For two people the apartment is very spacious, it would also work well for a couple or a small family. George and Gina are well travelled British expats who have lived in Valencia for many years. |
