Elegant Summer Villa
Villa | 5 bedrooms | sleeps 10
The house is made up of two parts, one which was designed as a modern space in a traditional, Provence-style shell (a Bastide structure), and a modern extension. Attached to the house is a large pergola and stone walls typical of the Mediterranean region. Situated above the village of Valbonne which is less than 500 metres away and easily accessible on foot, the villa is surrounded by large, mature oak trees, pine trees and greenery.
Have a blissful lunch under a wisteria covered pergola as you look over the pool, and greenery down to the Mediterranean. Walk along rosemary lined paths to play a friendly game of boules with a glass of wine. Enjoy all the pleasures of Provence
The property measures 1 500 square metres and is on a slight grade with the parking area, house, pool and garden, all at different levels separated by stone walls. To the East, we look toward the Mediterranean (which we see through greenery). It is 10 km away, or 15 minutes by car. To the North, a glimpse of the hills of Gourdon.

|Further details indoors|
The interior is bright, open and modern with high ceilings, light marble floors and white walls. Large windows on the South and East sides flood the space with light. The living area on the ground floor includes a modern, fully-equipped kitchen (the large island seats 6) and pantry, a dining room, open living room and two-piece washroom.
All rooms have multiple doors and passages for a very open flow of space. The doors are tilt & turn full glass panels for maximum light. In the entrance hall the ceiling opens to the next floor where there is an extensive library of French and English works in the upstairs hallway.
|Further details outdoors|
The terrace, running the entire length and width of the house, measures 80 square metres. It is in part shaded by a large pergola with a teak table that extends to seat 8-10 people - most meals are taken outdoors. The terrace, which overlooks the pool, is surrounded by palms, oleander bushes and a variety of Mediterranean plants such as rosemary, lavender and wisteria.
The terrace overlooks the pool area. The pool measures 11 x 5 metres and is surrounded by a large patio paved with Indian sandstone - there are also teak benches and sun beds. The pool area is fenced off to prevent access by young children (but adult supervision of the pool is required at all times!). To further entertain adults and children, the property has a large 3.7 metre diametre trampoline as well as a boule pitch.
All included are: end-of stay cleaning, housekeeping once per week, gardener and pool maintenance, and linen and towels.
The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region
The Cote d'Azur in the South of France is one of the sunniest, warmest and most sought-after regions in Europe, located in the Provence/Cote d'Azur region of France. There are many interesting towns and villages, all reached by lovely scenic drives. Visit Grasse, the perfume capitol of France, where you can tour the museum and bottle your own perfume. Cannes, Nice, La Napoule and Juan les Pins are worth a visit as well. To please your inner gourmet, there are plenty of Michelin starred restaurants nearby, as well as local produce offered in weekly provencal markets. Mougins, Plascassier, Biot are all next door. Easy day trips include Monaco, the Italian Riviera, Marseilles, Cassis, and the Route Napoleon. For history buffs, there are fantastic ruins and historical sites such as the Chateau d'If in Marseille, the Trophy of the Alpes in La Turbie, Templar castles, and ancient monasteries, as well as the prison on a small island which supposedly held the Man in the Iron Mask, just a short ferry-ride away from the centre of Cannes. Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is a nice day trip for antique hunting, the Nice Antique market is held on Mondays, and brocante (upscale flea markets) are held in various nearby villages almost every weekend. There are sand beaches or stone beaches, boat rides, water sports, canyoning, skiing in winter, mountain hikes, etc. Stars flock to the Riviera in May for the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix. If you are looking to do something, chances are there are plenty of options available on the Cote d'Azur!
The sea breeze off the Mediterranean allows for clear, pleasant evenings under the stars with few lights to interrupt a most glorious star-gazing experience.
The first record of Valbonne dates back to 1200 as the Monasterium Vallisbone was established. Today, it is a busy and active town, with a large Anglophone population. The village of Valbonne was mostly designed in the 16th century, in an unusual grid pattern following the layout of Roman cities. Unlike some of the local villages, Valbonne is lively and has a wide array of shops, services, restaurants and amenities. In the centre of the village is the lovely Place des Arcades. The central square is surrounded on all four sides by picturesque arcades, cafe terraces and little shops.
Valbonne market is known as one of the prime markets and attracts many merchants and shoppers to the village on Friday mornings. It is a lovely place to find authentic provencal wares and fares - from tablecloths and bedspreads to fresh produce and cheeses.
Our property is within easy walking distance to the village, either along the road, or down a private path and stairs.
The town is next to the Brague river with a splendid walk down its banks all the way to the Mediterranean. It offers a cool, shady respite to hot, sunny days lounging by the pool. There are vast natural reserves with paths available for horse-riding, biking or walking all around Valbonne, some which offer the most incredible views of the coast.
Canyoning in the mountains in the summer, skiing in the Alpes in the winter, and hang-gliding are all available for extreme-sport enthusiasts.
The area also has a myriad of spas that will cater to any taste and budget.
Shopping at the finest luxury boutiques in Cannes, or small village pottery shops will delight. There is anything and everything available.

"A home away from home"
Exceptional property located close to an exceptional village in the South of France, Valbonne. Beautiful, charming, warm & comfortable house superbly decorated with all the amenities a couple or family could dream of.
Enjoy the pool or relax on the different terraces, read, chat or work, discover the area on foot or by car, this house meets each and everyone's expectations. We did enjoy every minute of our stay and do plan to return later on this year.
