The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region
Le Rouret is a beautiful Provencal village located in the hills behind Nice, Cannes and Antibes and it is only a 25 minute drive from Nice airport.
The medieval village of Valbonne is just 10 mins away. One can explore the historic XII th Century village with a magnificent square, delightful restaurants and charming boutiques and there is a very popular provençal market every Friday.
If you prefer the hills there are many pretty perched villages behind Le Rouret each with their own character.
Winter skiing is close by (40minute drive) to Geôlière.
Within a 30 minute drive there are at least good quality 10 Golf Courses available.
The Grande Bastide, Chateau De La Begude and Royal Mougins are but a few.
Grasse is the centre of the perfume industry, with visits available to the perfumeries. One can also explore the cobbled streets with interesting shops and restaurants.
There are many museums of all genres in the region, being the home to famous artists like Picasso and Renoir.
Monaco and Italy are within an hour's drive.
The Villa is in a fabulous location having all that the Cote d'Azur can offer within easy reach.
La Rouret is a classic Provincial village, agricultural in origins and laid back in atmosphere. It has a wide selection of great restaurants – there is something for all tastes and all budgets.
Life in the village is centered around the church Saint Pons in the centre. Here you can enjoy a game of boules. There are atmospheric little pavement cafes in which to sit and watch the world drift by here too,
A holiday rental villa in Le Rouret is a fantastic base for exploration of the French Riviera. Located equidistant from Cannes and Nice, and set to a backdrop of the dramatic Gorges du Loup, the village of Le Rouret couldn't be better connected for a first time visitor to the south coast of France. The Medieval village of Valbonne is less than 10 minutes away.
In the immediate vicinity of the village are some wonderful monuments too. Artefacts dating back from the Bronze Age can be found, from the Dolmen at Clamarquier to the Roman Bridge found in the village. The church Saint-Pierre in Le Rouret is also well worth investigation from a Le Rouret property rental, even if only for the views across the Gorges du Loup.
The Fete de la Truffle in January has become hugely popular since it started in 2004, with visitors coming from around the world to stay in Le Rouret property and enjoy the festival atmosphere.
The proximity of Grasse has had a huge influence on Le Rouret. As the perfume capital of the world, Grasse consumes almost all of the agricultural roses, jasmine and orange blooms grown on the slopes around Le Rouret, although some can still be bought in the shops and market stalls of Le Rouret. A perfumery tour of Grasse is well worth taking, especially when staying in Le Rouret, as you will discover a huge amount about the village too.
During the summer months, it is hard to resist the beaches of the Cote d'Azur as temperatures soar into the mid 30's with staggering regularity daily from June until September.
Nice International Airport (NCE) is just 26km from Le Rouret, making your Riviera exploration commence with ease. There are regular flights from across the UK on both 'no frills' airlines and the more comfortable (and expensive) airlines. Although you can reach a Le Rouret property by public transport, taking a hire car from the airport is advised.
