Surrounded by the green hills of the Pierla valley lies the Country House Il Castello, the ideal place to seek and find tranquillity and peace in close contact to nature. The completely restored farm house, opened in January 2004 overlooks an uncontaminated valley and is bathed from early morning to evening by warm sunshine. Both, its position, 500 m above sea-level and the fresh air contribute to warm and dry summers.
The house is divided in to 3 apartments.
The beautiful swimming pool located above the compound and from where one has a magnificent view over the entire Val di Pierla is just one of the particular features of the Country House Il Castello

The Tuscany region
This secret Umbrian idyll is still very much unspoilt and offers excellent transport links to many of the delightful towns and Cities of the region. The location of Lago Trasimeno is excellent as surrounding area offers easy access to some of the most delightful places in Italy; Perugia (40 mins), Assisi (50 mins), Siena (1 hr), Arezzo (45 mins), Cortona (20 mins), Florence (1 Hr), Pisa (1 ¾ hrs) and Rome (2 ½ hrs).
Being large but shallow, Lake Trasimeno (at 128 square kilometres, the fourth largest lake in Italy) is a haven for a wide variety of birds and other wildlife. The lake is surrounded by a flat, alluvial plain, then a ring of gentle hills, where woodland alternatives with fields of sunflowers, maize, vineyards and olive groves. In fact, the economy of the area depends largely on agriculture, together with the local’s love of craftwork, notably the famous lace of Isola Maggiore, ceramics and articles in copper and wrought iron.
Val di Pesa / Mercatale area
Its central position permits to easily and comfortably reach the major cultural locations and natural areas of Tuscany and Umbria as well as unique excursions within the whole region. After their excursions guests can relax in the Country House's own swimming pool (7,5 x 14 m) and enjoy the breathtaking natural surroundings.
Those who wish can participate in rural activities such as grape picking, olive gathering and reaping or simply watch these activities, which have become unaccustomed to or long forgotten by town dwellers.

The beautiful swimming pool located above the compound and from where one has a magnificent view over the entire Val di Pierla is just one of the particular features of Il Castello.Every single stone used to build the pool was produced and smoothed by skilful craftsmen so as to achieve the most natural and exclusive result.
The Apartments within the House
"La Valle" is on the ground floor and derives its name from the breathtaking panoramic view on the entire Pierle valley and the Niccone river. The apartment has a private entrance, two double bedrooms, living room (with sofa bed), fireplace, kitchenette and bathroom. The 70 mq² apartment can accommodate 4 to 6 persons. As with all other apartments, during restructuring special attention was given to materials and the ancient design typical of the region without forgetting the most modern accessories, such as satellite-TV and telephone in all rooms.
"Il Monte" is in the building's upper store. From the windows of the 70mq² apartment one has an unobstructed view on the wood covered hills surrounding the big castle. The apartment features two double bedrooms or beds for 4 persons. The other rooms: living room ( with kitchenette and fireplace and single sofa bed), shower equipped bathroom (like the other two apartments). There are also satellite-TV and telephone. As one can see in the pictures most of the old furniture has been recovered, the rest of the rooms has been furnished in the typical Tuscan style.
The 55 mq² La Loggia apartment is on the first floor and derives its name from a small but most beautiful arcade protecting the entrance. From here one has a magnificent view on the immense castle. The Loggia is structured as follows: living room ( with double sofa bed) double bedroom, fireplace, kitchenette and bathroom. 2-2 persons can be accommodated and they can also use all the services included (satellite - TV , telephone); private entrance; accessories and all of the household appliances are new and in perfect working order.
