Apartment | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 5
Ski the best of Val d'Isere from our centrally located 2 bed apartment with fantastic views of the slopes.
The apartment is large by French standards (50 square meters) and has been completely refurbished. It has a large sunny south facing terrace which offers panoramic views of both the Solaise and Bellevarde ski areas.
The flat is ideally suited to a family of four, but can sleep up to five people. There is one sunny double room and one bunk room with large comfortable bunks for 2 people but very limited standing room and no window! (Best to be honest!). There is a sofa bed in the living room which sleeps 1. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher/washing machine, electric oven, ceramic hob and microwave.
There is a cute bathroom with unlimited hot water and separate loo.
Free Wi-Fi - although be warned that it can be temperamental in the mountains - or is it France!
The ski slopes can be easily reached either by bus or on foot. The free "train rouge" shuttle bus to either the Val d'Isere lifts, La Daille or Le Fornet ski lifts stops right outside. Alternatively the Val d'Isere nursery slopes and ski lifts to Bellevarde and Solaise areas are an easy five minute walk away.
The flat is situated at the lower end of the main street and next to the Supermarket, Cinema and the famous "Perdrix Blanche" seafood restaurant. It is also very close to central the Bus/Coach station so no long drag of your suitcases when you arrive in the resort!
If you drive up there is free underground parking below the building with an internal entrance to the block.
You are responsible for bringing your own linen, towels and tea towels - and don't forget the loo rolls! The flat will be clean when you arrive and a cleaning fee will be added to the cost of your stay depending on the number of people staying.
We think Val d'Isere is the best skiing in the World and we would love you to stay in our flat! We can arrange mountain guides and get discounts for you at the closest ski hire shop.

The Rhone/French Alps region
We believe Val is the best ski resort in the World! We are bias of course as we met in Val 26 years ago and bought our little flat overlooking the spot we met at more than a decade ago!
The season is exceptionally long - this year the slopes open on November 30 2013 and won't close till May 4 2014! We have had our best powder days at the beginning and end of seasons.
There's over 300km of marked pisted runs and unlimited off piste skiing within the Espace Killy area making it an ideal location for skiers and boarders of all abilities. In combination with its neighbouring resort Tignes, the 'Espace Killy' area is dedicated to all aspects of skiing. It regularly hosts World downhill championships - so you can see your ski heros walking the streets!
Val d'Isere's record of snowfall is exceptional. Whilst benefiting from the same Atlantic depressions as other French resorts, it often receives heavy falls of snow from the Mediterranean low pressures which dump their snow on the Italian Alps. There are 96 lifts spreading ten miles across Val d'Isère and Tignes that can now carry 149,425 skiers per hour. Most of Val d'Isère's lifts are long and rapid, travelling vertically more than horizontally, so there's a lot of skiing back down for a short trip up. With it's resort height and excellent snow conditions you can generally ski back to the heart of the village right until the end of April/beginning of May (with care).
The centre and old town of Val d'Isere consists of stone and wooden clad chalets which adds to the cosy feel of the resort. Sadly there are some "interesting" apartment creations and designs left over from the 1970's dotted around the village, but recent legislation on building regulations and greater emphasis on traditional chalet-style rennovations to existing buildings means that the traditional savoyard architecture has made a comeback.
And then there is the Apres-Ski - famous for the nightclubs - Val d'Isere is a top destination for the young and the older party animals - as well as being great for family ski groups. The wide main street that runs the length of the town is closed to cars every Thursday night and becomes an area exhibiting local music and entertainers, ice sculptures and free Vin Chaud!
Fashion shops, restaurants and cafés, a cinema, and bars all line the busy high street giving plenty of choice and variety.
Every Monday near the tourist office, the market comes to town selling local cheeses and cured meats, sweets and clothes giving the village a real french feel.
To get the most out of the ski area, opt for the Espace Killy - 300 km of pistes, 2 glaciers and above all you can move about quickly thanks to the high performance lifts.
You can get from Val d'Isère to Tignes on 2 lifts – the Espace Killy can be discovered and even fully covered in a single day.
In addition the 7 day plus ski pass allows you to ski in Les Rosiere, La PLagne, Les Arcs and St Foy for no extra charge! So you can really make the best of the area!
There can be a fair bit of rule changing each season - so we do suggest you check when you buy your pass - what other areas you can ski on it!
