The local train station is a 30 minute walk, so perfect for accessing Florence, Lucca and the beach by train. The trains in Italy are very cheap indeed, you can get to Florence, Lucca and Viareggio all in under an hour and all less than 10 euros return per person. The Tuscany region
A beautiful spot in Tuscany with the town located along the river. The views everywhere are of mountains and lush green trees. There are numerous walks, either strolling along the river, walking into town where there are plenty of places to eat and shop or for the more adventurous walks through olive groves and up mountains. The food is delicious everywhere you go, you can get a coffee locally for just over a euro, and a gelato for around the same, all the gelato is home made and it is simply delicious.
There is trotter racing nearby, a brilliant night out for a few euros or free for ladies. The local trattoria's are the best, offering a Pranzo di Lavoro for around 11 euros, this includes a first and second course, half a carafe of wine and a coffee. All family owned restaurants with their own special way of doing things.
You can catch the bus further into the surrounding hills for a tiny cost (pennies) where you can enjoy even more beautiful scenery and some fantastic restaurants at very reasonable prices for home cooked Tuscan food. The beach at Viareggio is just stunning with a backdrop view of the mountains.
Lucca is an absolute must, the walled City is an amazing place to stroll around or hire a bike and cycle round the wall. In the summer there are many festivals to go and see, all great value. Florence takes an hour on the train and only costs 5 euros each way. The architecture is stunning and we can recommend a lovely walk around the City. Pisa has the leaning tower, which really does have to be seen to be believed and then of course there is the beach at Viareggio, sea in front of you and the mountains behind you. Warm sea water and sunshine.
The area is full of natural beauty and plenty of things to do. The lush green hillsides just take your breath away with a view down the valley of the mountains and blue skies. There is a local river with a swim hole and a backdrop view of the waterfall and mountains.
There are numerous stunning walks that we can recommend, either a nice circular stroll along the river or for the more adventurous you can walk up the mountainside and see some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.
Tuscany also has the highest suspension bridge, which is an amazing engineering feat and an amazing little restaurant close by to fortify yourselves after your adventure.
The towns of Tuscany are beautiful, with a view of building literally that look like they are tumbling down the mountainside and always a lovely café or restaurant close by.
Swim in the local river, with a beautiful waterfall as your backdrop. Simply stunning and only a 10 minute walk from our Olive Farm.

"Loss of time & days...so peaceful and relaxing - Great hospitality!"
Apsolutly fantastic place. AMAZING views, beautiful walks, great locals and THE BEST GELATO EVER!!!!!! Chris, Sue and the boys showed great hospitality without imposing. I loved the daily food we recieved and our morning chats. An hour away from both Pisa and Florence both easily accessible by train and it's cheap, approx 45min walk to station. Would highly recommend switching all time of (I.e watches and phones) and let the bell chimes tell you what time it is...no one rushes for anything. AMAZING EVERTHING!

"Relaxing, Rustic break off the beaten track, stowed away in the Tuscan hills."
What an enjoyable way to spend a relaxing week in the Tuscan hills. You can instantly attune yourself to the rustic way of life when unpacking your bag in the welcoming and comfortable holiday shacks whilst rummaging through the hamper of homegrown vegetables, fruit and assorted farm produce which is on offer with the delectable food package deal (highly recommended with an additional selection of regional wines, daily bread deliveries and extra midweek treats!).
Once you sit back and absorb the sun, surrounding views and the mesmeric tones of the local wildlife, you can can find yourself embracing lazy days in the sunshine whilst watching the day unfold in front of you. It is a pleasure to experience the changing noises and colours that are on offer as the sun rises to its impressive best during the day and as it gives way to the cooler (but still warm) star laden night sky which is just as pleasurable to see gradually appear at the end of another tranquil Tuscan day.
The Tuscan Farm is situated within a pleasurable 30 minutes walk to Pescia train station which is an excellent means of connecting yourself with the regional sights and activities, of which there are many - however my wife and I opted to continue our relaxed ambience of this holiday with regular day trips to Viaraggio for the lovely, smooth, sandy beach and crystal clear, warm sea.
All in all, an excellent holiday and I would highly recommend anyone to spend a week in this lovely location. Once more, I definitely recommend paying for the optional food hamper as this rounds off your needs for your week amongst the olive trees perfectly!
