About the home

A charming small complex of 10 apartments in a peaceful central location in Uzumlu. Ideal if you need to get away from it all. Offering mountain views, a good sized pool and large terrace, ideal for watching the amazing sunsets whilst sipping local wine. The apartment has all mod cons with oven, hob, washing machine and fridge/freezer. Open plan kitchen and lounge area both with doors leading to a terrace. Two bedrooms, one double and one twin and a bathroom hosting wc, sink and large power shower. In the lounge are two sofa's, one of which folds into a double bed. The apartment is tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard and is cleaned before your arrival and on your departure.

The lounge area has a 2 seater and 3 seater sofa, one folding down to a double bed. Well equipped kitchen, shower room, double room and twin room. Large balcony off lounge and kitchen.

Set in a quiet location just a 5 minute walk to the village centre with views to mountains across fields.

There is an outdoor pool with own sunbeds.

Uzumlu has authentic village houses, traditional life style and local people. As well as the countryside there is culture from ancient Cadianda and Ottoman Uzumlu to modern Yesil Uzumlu. Located on a plateau, Uzumlu literally translated means grape yard or place of the grape, as it's name infers you will see grapevines scattered around all parts of the village and will find locals are quite happy to share their produce with you. Local produce includes wine, grape-juice, olives, vinegar, olive oil, tobacco, figs and fig products as well as weaving. At an altitude of more than 500 metres Uzumlu enjoys very pleasant night time temperatures. 15 minutes drive will take you to Chalis for beaches and Fethiye for the shops and harbour.

Walking is superb in the area, local buses reliable but the village has shops for day to day needs and restaurants.

On Friday there is the market for locally produced fruit and vegetables.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

There is a local market every Friday in Uzumlu where you can buy local produce for home-cooking. Small supermarkets for day to day needs and several restaurants. The nearest town is Fethiye, an attractive old town which is a busy centre providing essential shops and services such as supermarkets and banks. It has a magnificent harbour and a wonderful promenade dotted with bars and restaurants. Great opportunities for boat trips.

A little further along the coast is Olu Deniz, an area designated as a National Park. Its beach sweeps along for 3km and curves into a beautiful lagoon, with crystal clear water perfect for a variety of water sports. Boat trips run to the various islands off the coast and Rhodes is accessible by Hydrofoil.

Sailing, paragliding, horse riding, scuba diving and white water rafting are all available in the area. Ancient ruins from the Lycian period can be seen at Cadianda, Letoon, Xaanthos and Sidyma or take a walk along the famous Lycian way.

The Uzumlu area

The village is a traditional unspoilt town situated in breathtaking scenery but with access to all the amenities you may require.

Local shops for day to day needs and several restaurants are just a 5 minute walk away.

The holiday was superb,peace and quiet and plenty of places for me to walk/climb,your apartment is ideally placed and very comfortable to live in,i would recommend this apartment to anybody who likes turkey but wants peace and quiet at same time.

Thanks for the use of your lovely apartment. It was in a great position: quiet and peaceful, with views of the mountains but only a short walk to the centre of the village with shops and restaurants. Uzumlu is a beautiful, unspoilt village for when you want to get away from it all, but only 15-20 minutes drive to Fethiye or to the nearest beach at Calis. There's lots to do and see. We will definitely be back! Janet and Malcolm
