Villa | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 8
After looking for a villa in Turkey and trying out many resorts we fell in love with Uzumlu, with it being the unspoilt, uncommercialised traditional Turkey, yet in a prime position close enough to whatever type of activity or day out you want. Being 500m above sea level the lack of humidity and breeze is a welcome bonus on hot days. We looked at many villas to find the perfect holiday home before finding Oasis, the villa, the pool and of course location could not be beaten !
There is a superb choice of restaurants in close walking distance to the villa, therefore ensuring no one has to drive especially when a 500ml Efes beer is under £2, significantly cheaper than tourist locations. Additionally there is a dolmus (bus) stop close by the villa with regular buses to Fethiye and beyond. A car is handy but not essential due to the frequent services of the dolmus.
The pool is a huge bonus to us, what with 87 strokes from one end to the other. It is the same depth throughout at approximately 1.5m, although every villa has it's own shallow area that leads to the main pool.
Why choose our villa?
1. Location location location; Its very central to so much not only in Turkey but in the village where you can walk to everything unlike other villas in Uzumlu where you will need a car. Everywhere can be reached by the local Dolmus very cheaply.
2. Amenities; Villa Oasis has the largest pool by far in the area and plenty of extras to keep all ages amused, from a book library to a box 360 with plenty of games. There is a laptop for your usage, and there is even a Sat Nav pre loaded with places to visit. We have tried to think of most things you may need to help you to have a fantastic holiday.
3. The Villa itself; the layout is perfect as a holiday villa with downstairs being fully open plan with a large raised kitchen area. Other villas may sleep 8 but will the dining room table and lounge sofas seat 8 ? Ours does, all rooms have balconies and air con.
4. Price; our rates are very competitive for Turkey. You will also find the cost of living significantly cheaper.
5. I could go on and on but lastly must mention the team who look after the villa, they are there to ensure you have the best holiday. There is a local English agent who will meet and greet you spending time telling you about the local area and being on call should you need assistance. A welcome pack of groceries will also be in the villa for you.
6. NEW for 2014 will be WiFi internet access.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Fethiye is a coastal town only 20 minutes driving distance from the Uzumlu village.
Fethiye is one of Turkey's well-known tourist centres and is especially popular during the summer. Head to the famous markets on a Tuesday or take one of the many boat rides available, even a day trip to Rhodes.
In the last ten years Fethiye has become a magnet for British citizens. Apart from its climate and natural beauty, the Britons are attracted by its less expensive lifestyle and the hospitality of the local people. Fethiye-Öludeniz was chosen as the best tourism centre in the world by The Times and The Guardian newspapers in 2007. Over 7,000 British citizens permanently live in Fethiye, while approximately 600,000 British tourists visit the town every summer.
The Fethiye Museum, which is very rich in ancient and more recent artifacts, displays and testifies to the successive chain of civilizations that existed in the area, starting with the ancient Lycians.
Fethiye is also home to the Tomb of Amyntas, a large and beautiful tomb built in 350 BC by the Lycians. What makes this tomb very unique is its massive size and beautiful carvings.
A pleasant short walk from Oasis Villa to the small picturesque Uzumlu village. The name of the village translates as "place with grapes", and the village even has a wine bar where you can try the local wine, recommended for food as well.
The village of yesil Uzumlu is a small traditional Turkish village located 18kms from the bustling town of Fethiye. The village itself is surronded by a fantastic backdrop of mountains. As Uzumlu is 500m above sea level you will enjoy the cool mountain breezes which are more than welcome especially in the summer.
Although Uzumlu's beauty attracts a number of tourists, the village remains a traditional Turkish working village retaining all of the natural charm and character of a traditional village. Within the village you will be able to experience real Turkish village life and the atmosphere is where you can experience the real Turkey quiet and unspoilt and is ideal for those looking for a little peace and quiet, breathtaking scenery and rural life. The village of Uzumlu has small supermarkets in which to buy your essential groceries, several restaurants, a bakery in which to buy fresh bread every day, a barbers, post office and a local market on Fridays in order to buy local produce.
From the mosque in the village square you can catch a dolmus (Turkish taxi) which will take you into Fethiye. Fethiye is an all year round working town and is a mixture of market town, port and holiday resort. On the hill above Fethiye is a castle built for the Knights of Saint John and there are 2 simple rock tombs on the eastern face of the hill. Every Tuesday there is a huge open air market near the marina selling everything from clothes, shoes, household goods, gifts and food. Great to practice your bartering skills! The harbour and marina is bordered by palm tree lined promenades and back streets filled with shops, bars and restaurants, yielding bargains, gastronomic delights and bustling night life. The town is lined with shops galore as well as a maze of little side streets offering many hidden treasures. At night there are a good selection of bars, cafes and restaurants offering local and international cuisine. You will also find discos and cinemas in Fethiye town centre.
For a much livelier resort you can visit Hisaronu with its wide choice of shops, restaurants and late night bars, they also have a market every Monday. Near to Hisaronu is the deserted village of Kayakoy which was a Greek settlement founded at the beginning of the 14th century. It was evacuated during the Turkish-Greek war of 1919-1923 hence it's nickname of The Ghost Town. Its well worth a visit and the more energetic of you can walk there through the pine forests.
The world renown resort of Olu Deniz 'the blue lagoon' with its sheltered beach and lagoon which is ideal for children and swimming, is a short distance away from Fethiye. Here you can wander around the shops, sit and have a drink in one of the many seafront cafes and watch the paragliders land on the beach.
Calis beach is a 20 minute drive from the villa and is famous for its stunning sunsets, cooling breezes and beautiful long beach of single and sand which stretches across the bay to Fethiye. The seafront and area around Calis is flat and therefore suitable for strolling along the promenade deciding which of the many restaurants or bars in which to sit and watch the world go by.

"Wonderful Villa and nearby town..had an amazing holiday!"
The Villa was exceptional..very clean and spacious. The pool was amazing! We went in August when potentially it could be too hot but were pleasantly surprised how lovely the temperature was as the Villa and town are situated a little higher up. The nearby town is great, with shops and bars and it was so easy to travel to Fehtiye and other nearby resorts.
I would highly recommend this Villa.
Thanks for taking the time to review, look forward to you coming back.

"Highly recommended Villa"
We were met by Julia the local agent when we first arrived, she was superb, a great source of local knowledge.
Villa Oasis is a beautiful open plan villa with a stunning pool and gardens. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The villa is a good size, clean and well equipped with everything that you need. The pool was our highlight! Even swimming at night.
Uzumlu is a quiet and very pretty town with a few restaurants, bakery and a Friday market which is especially good for fresh fruit, veg and locally made yogurt and cheese. Guys don't bother packing your razors as a shave is only £1.80 in the village. We used the local Dolmus (bus) system to get about and found it easy to use and very cheap, we even caught a Dolmus to Saikent Gorge and back via the main hub in Fethiyhe, the villa was conveniently located for the bus stops, we did speak to others renting villas in Uzumlu twhere were a car was required.
We highly recommend booking villa Oasis from Jason and Rachel who were always quick to respond to any questions and provided a stress free holiday, they even arranged our transfers.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We hope to see you again soon.

"Best holiday ever....."
Two weeks after returning from Villa Oasis in Uzumlu we have spent most of our time wishing that we where still there. We had been to Uzumlu before so we knew what to expect from the village.
Arriving at the Villa we were greeted by Julie who showed us around and I was amazed at the quality of the villa and was glad of the grocery pack that where there. It saved us having to go back out and do some shopping, the fresh flowers were a nice touch.
The Villa does have everything you need including beach towels, my wife liked the fact there was a decent hairdryer and straighter, everything has been thought about including beach towels. The pool and gardens was another highlight, we have never swum in a pool that size, it was fabulous. We liked the fact it was very close to Park Alya restaurant which quickly became our favourite, although others are also close.
In summary its a superb villa in such a good location that's managed well, we walked everywhere easily. Thank you Rachel and Jason we will be back !
