The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Uzumlu is a traditional Turkish village, centrally located just inland from the beautiful harbour resort of Fethiye. With stunning mountain views it offers a peaceful retreat from the busy nearby resorts of Fethiye, Calis & Olu Deniz. Just a 15 minute drive down to The Fethiye area, with so much to offer all tastes, both sporting and cultural. FETHIYE, with its port and harbour area is a favourite stop for yachts and gullets, many, many restaurants and shops. An ancient Amphitheatre at the centre of the town is currently being restored. A castle and Rock Tombs can be seen as well.

Also nearby is the famous resort of OLU DENIZ one of the worlds best spots for paragliding and other air sports. Great safe beaches and lagoons with a large selection of shops, restaurants, cafes and night life. CALIS is slightly closer with a wide range of restaurants and bars lining the long beach.

Many large supermarkets are to be easily found around these areas for a big weekly shop as well as an enormous market on Tuesdays.

Many designer shops line the streets of Fethiye as well as an endless supply of Jewellers. Banks and currency exchange facilities are in good supply.

Among the many activities and days out are: White water rafting, Paragliding,Turkish and Mud baths. Horse riding, Go Karts, Jeep Safari's and Water Parks as well as the usual water sports and much more.

Take an all day boat trip from Fethiye or Calis. You will visit some of the 12 Islands just off the coast of Fethiye where you can explore, with stops for swimming and snorkelling from the boat in the crystal clear waters of The Turquoise coast of the Mediterranean. The cost of the trip will include a tasty BBQ lunch and a bar on board will be available. A great day out with memorable fun for all the family.

Further afield there are many places to visit all within easy driving distance. Less than an hour away are Ancient archaeological sites including The Ancient Port of PATARA. This amazing restoration project allows you to see two Amphitheatres and many other ruins as well as the Rock Tombs and Cave homes in the nearby town of TLOS. Patara has one of the longest sandy beaches in Europe at 17Km long. Closer to home at around 30 minutes away is the Ghost town of Kaya Koy. Deserted in the 1920's by the Greeks returning to their homeland. This has remained deserted ever since and you can explore the buildings at your leisure.

UZUMLU is an area of stunning natural beauty which can be enjoyed from all sides of Almond Villa. Whether relaxing by the pool or in the shade of the large comfortably furnished terrace. The green valley is surrounded by a dramatic mountain range offering tranquillity for a restful holiday. The road to the villa is virtually free of traffic, Just the occasional passing herd of goats. A great place to take walks or even a cycle ride with the village just 15 minutes away on foot. At 500 meters above sea level a gentle breeze is a welcome change from the often extreme heat of the coastal resorts, particularly at the height of summer.

A good selection of restaurants, serving traditional Turkish cuisine as well as most international dishes to suit all tastes are to be found in the village. The very popular 'Wine House', serving great food as well as the local Uzumlu wine, is a 'must do' during your stay. Two or three further restaurants are to be found on the main roads leading to the village centre providing a good variety of places to eat out representing great value for money, all conveniently situated close to Almond Villa.

Uzumlu continues to be very popular with families, many of which return year after year. The area has become well known for its traditional Turkish charm and represents an excellent example of unspoilt village life. The locals are very friendly and welcoming and are always keen to pass the time of day with holidaymakers and regular visitors, who like ourselves have chosen the area for their home in the sun.

A large number of small mini markets are now well established in and around the village to cater for all your grocery needs including fresh meat and vegetables. Friday morning sees a small market in the village with local produce and other interesting goods to purchase. Other small shops in the village include Arts and Crafts, a bakery where fresh bread is available all day and the Traditional Turkish Barber. The male members of your party can enjoy a haircut, shave and shoulder massage for as little as £4. To be recommended!!! A Post Office with an ATM machine is centrally located should you need to withdraw cash.

Local ladies are to be seen outside their houses weaving and lace making using traditional methods and high above Uzumlu are the ruins of the Ancient city of Cadianda. This can be reached by car 6 km away. Once the home to over 5000 people, with Stadium, Tombs and Amphitheatre. Absolutely stunning!

Much more information about the area can be found on the owners own website.

"Truly amazing luxurious villa in peaceful surrounds"

The villa was truly exceptional. It was immaculately clean and furnished to the highest standards imaginable. Everything you could think of was laid on and no expense spared. The pool and outdoor living space was divine and internally loved all the beautiful Turkish furnishings including the most amazing hanging light fitting I've ever seen! The villa is nestled in a lovely little spot, very quiet but within easy reach of the local village and not too far from the more touristy areas. Couldn't fault it at all and the owner's local contact was so helpful. Bedrooms were all of a good size and we just had the best time ever!

The owners of this villa are 5star and the villa matches them,
We have had 4 great holidays until our parents could not travel abroad anymore.
If anyone wants a quiet break in a wonderful location get yourself to Almond Villa.
I must mention Carol Hills the owner - she is someone who goes the extra mile and her communication is second to none; the people she recommends reflects her high standards.
Nothing is too much trouble for Carol and attention to detail one of her outstanding qualities. The villa is well equipped, clean and comfortable with a lovely pool area with roman steps

"A home from home with an outstanding host"

This was our first trip to Turkey. We wanted a fairly large villa with a decent sized pool, as we were teaming up with our three son's. 2 having just finished Uni and 1 about to go. plus girlfriends. I have to say Carol the owner is an outstanding host, extremely helpful with all aspects of the holiday including advice and help with flights and car hirer. The villa is amazing, set in a beautiful location and not too far from some lovely places. (although I would recommend a car to get the benefit of seeing some of the surrounding and slightly further afield places). Carol has thought of everything including local mobile phones which makes it cheap and easy to arrange things or to get in touch with Maureen, the lovely helpful lady who looks after the villa for Carol. There is nothing missing from this home. If you want somewhere quite but in easy reach of the more touristy bits this is the place to stay. Carol and Maureen, thanks for everything. we will be back
