The Languedoc-Roussillon region

With its long tradition of agriculture and winemaking, the Gard département can always offer you a good meal.

From your gite, ideally located in the middle of the Gard, you will feel free to explore the very different types of wonderful landscapes, the beautiful villages and Roman buildings it offers. From the preserved Cévennes mountains,

through the rough Garrigues hills, across the natural reservation in Camargue to the sandy beaches of the Lion Gulf, you will always feel thrilled.

Whether you fancy a sporty holiday , a Roman heritage trip or a quiet "French way of life" break, you will find that the area is so rich that it is the perfect spot for any of these get-aways.

Uzes

Only ten minutes from the Mas, Uzès, near the border of Provence, proudly recalls its episcopal, consular and ducal past with its castle and lavish town houses. You will be able to enjoy this unique city which is both historic and lively especially on Saturday or Wednesday mornings, our market days. No wonder so many artists have chosen to settle here!

Our village, Blauzac, is a small authentic place with its picturesque old narrow streets, its Roman Catholic and Protestant churches, its castle and fountain but its secret treasure is the "trois cabanes": three stone capitelles built together in the heart of a green oak tree wood. You may also appreciate its two little restaurants.

The world-famous Roman aquaduct, the Pont du Gard, is only 15 minutes from Blauzac. It runs across the Gardon River, on which one can travel by canoeand make many enticing discoveries amidst the wild Gorges.

20 minutes from Blauzac is the wonderful city of Nîmes, with its Roman monuments (the Arena, the Tour Magne in the middle of the beautiful Jardins de la Fontaine ). Nîmes is also well known for its feria (festival with street bands, bull fights, balls..) but all the villages around Nîmes have their own "encierros" and "abrivados" throughout spring and summer, in which white horses and black cows are the stars: Camargue horses (local little white horses) are ridden by "manadiers" (local cowboys) to lead a small herd of black cows through the streets.

And if you don't mind spending one hour driving you can also easily discover many other beautiful, interesting places such as Avignon with its famous bridge and the Palais des Papes, Arles, Aigues Mortes: the city within medieval remparts and its Salt Marshes or the Ornithologic Park of Pont de Gau where wild flamingoes can be observed as if they were domesticated !

"Lovely home in the French countryside!"

My husband and l spent 4 nights here and we loved it. It's perfect located to visit the charming nearby village of Uzes, Avignon and Nîmes. The kitchen is well equipped with anything you need so we bought the local products at the market nearby and had dinner here almost every night while enjoying the fantastic view across the golden fields (and the horses).
The owners are really friendly and gave us a welcome gift on arrival (a bottle of red wine) and also let us in the property early 3pm instead of 5pm.
There are two pools, one tiny which was just in from of our apartment and a bigger one just around the corner which unfortunately we couldn't use (there was another family staying there). A BBQ is also available to guests.
The only thing that we didn't t like much about the apartment was the old wooden beam infested with termites, you could hear and see these insect and it wasn't very pleasant.
On the whole it was a very pleasant stay and we would stay here again.

We really do our best to improve our gite for it to enable you to have the best of holidays. Therefore, we have asked a professional to treat the decorative wooden beam, which had a few Capricorn beetle larvae (not termites or this would have been a real problem). This being done, we have also decided to change the pool which was nice but a bit tiny indeed. Now there is a large new heated pool in which one can dive, for the private use only of the holidaymakers staying at the gite. Finally, we have added a bedroom to allow more persons to come and enjoy our property. We hope to see you here again soon!

"Lovely place to stay; very friendly hosts"

Lovely gite-style accommodation; well appointed and equipped. Very friendly hosts who gave a lot of information beforehand. Good directions - we'd recommend going by train. The TGV to Avignon is fast and it was only 40 minutes from Avignon to the gite by car. Hosts spoke good English - but also encouraged us to use a bit of French!
Great location near Uzes and Nimes. Ideal for Russan if you're a climber (but you're probably not). Lots of other things to see and do. It was out in the countryside - so perfect for peace and quiet - but that's what you would have to be wanting.
Good value.

"Well situated for sightseeing, comfortable and private"

Everything provided that you need for a holiday. Extremely kind family, friendly and genuine. Ideal for sightseeing to Nimes, Pont du Gard, Avignon, Uzes. We would definitely use again if in the area. However very unusual having to make our own bed on arrival also we always leave a property as we find it and have never had so many notices asking to thoroughly clean before departing.

Our place is quite unique: no roof in sight and Mont Bouquet in the distance. We would like our attitude to match the site and be as perfect as possible. I didn't mean to be aggressive when I put a little notice about cleaning on the inside of three of the doors of the kitchen cupboards. I have removed two of them now, so there is only one left.
To us, a gite is not a hotel but something like a second home, so making your own bed was part of this. We have always offered a bottle of red wine as a welcome present but from now on, the bed will also be made because we are ready to change our ways to do our best to make our guests feel comfortable and enjoy a unique holiday.

"Perfect peaceful retreat for 2"

Perfect 2 person gite with garden out in the country near Blauzac, also with use of the swimming pool on the property. Owners are on site, very knowledgeable and very helpful; their children are a delight and very well behaved. Property is spotless and well maintained, and has everything you need. Local area has lots to do; historic sites, wine tasting galore, markets, walks, cycling and Pont du Gard day and evening. Avignon, Nimes, Uzes, Aix etc. are all within 90 minutes by car. Blauzac (walkable) has 2 excellent restaurants which do wonderful cheap lunches! You can do as little or as much as you want without any stress whatsoever. We love this place!

"Blissful, rural retreat a stone's throw from Roman delights"

This tranquil and beautiful rural location is near many major tourist attractions and wonderful towns and villages. There is plenty of sightseeing, especially of the Roman architecture at Nimes, Orange and the Pont du Gard. Local markets are colourful and eating out in beautiful village squares on warm evenings an absolute must.

The owners live on site and are very kind and attentive, doing whatever they can to ensure your stay is a pleasure in every sense, but leaving you to enjoy your stay.

The place is immaculate - and you have to leave it the same way. The views from the patio across the fields were amazing. Least favourite bit was the electric loo! (It worked fine but one has to exercise a certain amount of caution!!)

"Excellent accommodation for two with very friendly family in beautiful part of France."

Mas de Font Dame is in a very peaceful attarctive rural setting. The family are very welcoming and charming and their excellent English is an asset. The accommodation is of a high standard and offers first-class value for two people. The area offers many attractions, easily accessible if you have your own transport. Although we have visited this beautiful area many times, we only discovered Mas de Font Dame three years ago and have been back every year since. then.

"Wonderful accommodations and excellent hosts"

This was a beautiful rural location in the South of France. The site was very quiet which we like but was conveniently near many area attractions. We made day trips from the gite and were assisted with ideas and directions by our hosts and their family. They could not have been friendlier. It helped us in that Christine and her young son are fluent in English.
I would highly recommend this accommodation.

"A delightful gite in beautiful countryside!"

This was the most spotless, well-equipped gite we have stayed in in over 20 years! The owners are delightful people, who have thought of everything. Oh the bliss of linen sheets during hot, summer nights! The pool is lovely and beautifully kept and there are views of rolling countryside and distant mountains from the patio of the gite. Nimes, Uzes and the Pont du Gard to name just the obvious sites are all within easy reach. All in all a real treat!
