Home description
Set in the tranquil village of St. Siffret, the house is in the heart of the village, yet still has open views from its terraces. The house is built into the rock the village stands on with the oldest part of the house dating back to the early 18th century. At the end of a quiet lane (access only to residents) La Maison du Rocher allows you to enjoy the splendour of Uzes whilst staying in a beautiful village only minutes away.
The vaulted entrance leads to a large enclosed courtyard with a larger open terrace above, leading to a private pool surrounded by rock. The house itself offers 3 bedrooms (one large bedroon with a double and single bed, one with a double bed and a smaller bedroom with a small double bed), kitchen, summer kitchen and living room all simply decorated maintaining the character of the building and area. Weber gas barbeque available.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Gard region
This area offers you a quieter and more untouched Provence. With a warm and welcoming climate, you will find yourself nestled amongst vineyards, olive trees, cypress trees and lavender fields. The countryside is unspoilt and the towns a treasure. Culturally the area offers the Pont du Gard (10 minutes from house), the beautiful Roman city of Nimes which offers historical interest as well as diverse shopping opportunities, and the Papal grand city of Avignon (both 30 minutes away). Avignon, Orange and Aix-en-Provence all hold prestigious music and theatre festivals throughout the summer months and there is also the wonderful city of Arles, made particularly famous by artists such as Van Gogh and Picasso.
The wild beauty and endless, unspoilt beaches of the Camargue are less than an hour away. Famous for its wild white horses and pink flamingoes, and indeed seafood, the Camargue is a land like no other. Canoeing and horse-riding can also be enjoyed in the dramatic landscape of the Ardeche gorges to the north. With the beautiful walled city of Aigues-Mortes to discover as well as being less than an hour from Provencal treasures such as Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Gordes, a holiday in this area is guaranteed not to disappoint!
Uzes / St Siffret area
Uzes is internationally famous for its absolute and gloriously preserved grandeur. Allow yourself to get lost in its streets and it will open its secrets such as its impressive Duchy, its baroque-type Cathedral and Eglise St-Etienne. The striking 'Place aux Herbes' lies in the centre of the town with its vaulted arcades, its many restaurants and its renowned Provençal market twice a week.
Festivals are held in all villages and towns throughout the summer and all types of outdoor activities are available nearby. In summer there is also the famous bull run through the streets of Uzes. Be sure to discover the Gardon gorges just 6 kilometres away which not only offer a dramatic landscape but also the option of kayaking to the Pont du Gard.
The village of St.Siffret itself is an ancient but well preserved village with several restaurants, a bar, a village shop and post office.
