The Languedoc-Roussillon / Gard region

Situated in the south of France, the Gard is a department that offers great variety. Its many different landscapes : the Cévennes, the Camargue, the Cévenol foothills, the Cèze and Rhone valleys, make it a leading tourist destination.
The department has a wealth of history, culture and tradition : the Pont du Gard, the arena in Nîmes, the Aigues Mortes salt marshes and the museums are only a brief glimpse of the many treasures that the Gard has to offer.
The Uzes area
In the centre of Uzes, South France there are lots of narrow streets with little boutiques arranged around the old Duchy. In the centre you will find a big square (Place aux Herbes), laid out with fountains and plenty of decent restaurants. It is a big art loving town. The Saturday market in Uzes takes over most of the town and it is very good (as well as busy). Uzes and region have a bit of a reputation as a foodies paradise.
The other reason for coming to Uzes, France (especially if you have kids - or a sweet tooth) is to visit the Haribo sweet museum. it is like Willy Wonkas Chocolate factory! There are plenty of free sweets, some exhibits of old sweet manufacture and more interesting intreactive displays about how they make the sweets today. The shop on the way out is something to behold. It will cost you a small fortune.
The Gard. It is very picturesque. There are lots of tree lined country roads, vineyards and scenic hills covered in the famous Garrigue (stubbley bushes) and Olive tress. It makes driving through the area very pleasant. Near to Uzes you have Nimes, the Pont du Gard , Avignon, Anduze and to the north, the very picturesque Gorges d'Ardeche (with its famous site of Pont d'Arc).

Staying at Mas Malou was a real highlight of our Easter holiday, touring in France. It was everything an extended family might want - comfortable, spacious, laid out with two bedrooms up one staircase and two up another at the other end of the property, so the younger members of the group could have a little independence from the grown-ups. It felt like a home, with the owners kindly letting guests use their computer - great for teenagers who wanted to check the football results. The building was characterful, the garden well tended, the laundry room useful. A local lady came over to the property to let us in and show us around, and was willing to return if we needed any help. |
Guestbook for Mas Malou
Maybe a little late, but we want to congratulate you again with the beautiful house that you have in La Bruguière.
It is also very well appointed, beautiful tableware and decoration, really nice!
And then we had another advantage the fact we had a good cook' with us. We have therefore had a fantastic week.
We are sure to promote the house and also recommend for those seeking something there!
Thanks and greetings,
Janine and Wim
