Further details indoors:
The Villa is built into a hillside, and functions on different levels with private sitting areas and entrances.
Living Room: a huge light room, very simple, with a pale light-reflective floor, a great butch fireplace for winter cosiness, and furniture that is the apotheosis of wit and comfort.
Kitchen: Rugged simplicity in a professional kitchen with everything you could possibly want for crowd catering, a traditional open brazier, a double oven, freezer, dishwasher plus a good, big, solid wooden dining table and comfortable seating. Cookery courses take place here, for those who desire.
Studio: An indoors/outdoors space, with a sheltered terrace outside with an old open oven, where you can lounge or dine.
Each of the apartments is airy, open plan and themed for colour, and each has its own TV, wall-safe and wi-fi internet.
Studio 1: With colour reference of Caribbean seas, and dedicated to the moon, this apartment has a soothing view of woodland and its own secluded garden corner. There is a small but efficient kitchen area, and the studio is furnished with a sofa that can convert into a second double bed. It has a bathroom with a shower.
Studio 2: Spruce green is the colour that identifies this heavily beamed apartment, named after this planet, in which there is a neat kitchen area, double bed, and a sofa that converts to a double bed. It has a large bathroom complete with an antique carved stone basin.
Studio 3: Named after the stars, the dominating colour here is the lavender of the distant hills as the stars begin to show. Furnished like the previous two with a double bed, a sofa that converts to another double bed, a kitchen area, and a large bathroom equipped with a shower and an antique stone basin. It has two sets of doors that open straight into peaceful wooded countryside.
Studio 4: Appropriate glowing orange characterises this apartment named for the sun. It has two rooms, one whose barrel vaulted ceiling dates back to the 15th century. As before the suite has a cooking area, a double bed and a sofa bed - in this instance in separate rooms - and a spacious bathroom containing an antique basin. It has its own garden.
Studio 5: Heavenly blue walls give this single person separate building a peaceful ambience, making it a perfect refuge for the solitary traveller. It has a private garden, and within there is a single bed, a desk at which to write your masterpiece - or postcards home - a wardrobe, fridge, and a large bathroom.
Further details outdoors:
Grounds: There is a shaded outdoor dining area, with a barbecue and a hammock in which to recline as you wait, or you might wander to the gazebo to feast your eyes on the setting sun gilding an unbeatable panorama. Villa Leonessa has a large swimming pool, open during the summer months, from whose broad decking you can enjoy an endless vista of rolling wheatfields, distant lavender hilltops and the odd castle. There are plenty of chic recliners and umbrellas for shade, showers and a solarium built of wood. The garden has been designed with appropriate Mediterranean aromatics, happy to bake in the summer sun.
Further details
We provide a baby sitting service and extra cleaning if requested, for €15 per hour. There is a cot on the premises. We charge €10 for the use of the laundry facilities. The Villa has two open wood-burning fires, plus central heating. Pets are welcome. We are happy to accommodate conferences, arrange wine tastings, olive oil samplers and bio-vegetarian or traditional cookery courses based on the fabulous local produce - truffles, mushrooms, wild herbs gathered from the surrounding hills. There is a good local restaurant if you prefer to eat out, a supermarket, and of course a bar.
The Marche / Abruzzo / Marche region

Apart from Urbino, founded by a gigantic renaissance figure and filled with an astonishing plethora of art, Le Marche is the homeland of small unheralded gems, of which the local medieval village with its lovely open square and cutely painted church interiors is one.
The Urbania area
The undulating countryside has huge open views, and distant hilltops are pinnacled with castles, some of which have become inspiring centres for art and crafts. There is a magical natural park within a short drive, bisected by a spectacular rockwalled river, and boasting a fascinating variety of flora and fauna. The area is rich with beautiful 15th century palaces and fortifications, there is also a theatre in the vicinity.

Airport possibilities: Ancona, Perugia or Rome. Much of the charm of Le Marche is that it is, in a real sense, an undiscovered part of this beautiful country. Hence, it is not dotted with airports. But the joy of it is that away from the big cities, you will not be jostled by trippers trying to get the best shot.
