Yew Tree Barn is a detached Cotswold stone cottage combining simple country chic with modern comfort. Surrounded by rolling hills and stunning countryside it's perfectly positioned for lovebirds looking for a romantic luxury break away.

Situated in the heart of the village and hidden behind the walls of a former dairy farm, the approach to Yew Tree Barn epitomises quintessential English charm. The River Eye meanders through the village between honey coloured stone cottages and grand houses; the local pub The Slaughters Inn is just a ten minute walk along the river and offers fine dining and local ales in a relaxed atmosphere.

Yew Tree Barn is stylishly decorated, calming grey hues, antique linen and rich wool fabrics give a cosy 'country retreat' vibe. The woodburning stove is perfect for romantic winter evenings although under-floor heating throughout the ground floor ensures luxurious warmth and comfort all year round. The french doors open onto a small courtyard garden planted with box balls and bay trees surrounded by traditional Cotswold stone walls. Enjoy alfresco dining in the courtyard garden, complete with outdoor table and chairs for two.

The large kitchen/diner is efficiently laid out with an electric AGA fan oven and hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing-machine and tumble dryer. The large dining table comfortably seats six, perfect if you plan to entertain.

The vaulted bedroom has a pocket-sprung king-size bed, sumptuous duvet and crisp white cotton sheets. Neutral hues and soft lighting give a tranquil ambiance to the room. The spacious bathroom offers relaxed bathing in a claw-foot bath.

The Central England/Cotswolds region

Famous for its honey-coloured limestone towns and villages, the Cotswolds offer some of the most beautiful countryside in England. There's plenty to do all year round with hundreds of miles of walking, cycling and riding routes, historic houses, exquisit gardens, and quirky shops and cafes. The area is an attraction of anyone who loves peace and tranquility...no matter what the season.

There are many places worth exploring, nearby Bourton-on-the-Water is the epicentre of the tourist track in the Cotswolds, the River Windrush flows through the town under a succession of lovely footbridges. The market town of Stow-on-the-Wold is only 3 miles away and offers plenty of shopping and eating opportunities. Broadway is one of the most beautiful Cotswold villages, its wide high street lined with horse chestnut trees have lured visitors for centuries. Chipping Campden, home to the Arts and Craft movement is described as the 'Jewel of the Cotswolds' this ancient town is full of stunning architecture 'a masterpiece of limestone and craftmanship'.

Slightly farther afield is Shakespeare's Stratford-on-Avon and the Roman city of Bath, a world heritage site and home to some of the finest architecture in the world. The beautiful and vibrant cities of London and Oxford are easily reached by train from nearby Kingham station.

Upper Slaughter

Upper Slaughter is an enchanting hamlet close to the Cotswold towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water. The village straddles the banks of the River Eye which trickles through the village under a succession of stone footbridges and flows on to Lower Slaughter about a mile away.

The Slaughters remain virtually unchanged for more than a century and are the epitome of English country charm. With a network of walking routes right on the doorstep, and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty it's a prime location to enjoy some of the most beautiful walks in the country.

A short stroll along the River Eye takes you to our sister village, Lower Slaughter (voted the most romantic street in Britain 2011) and nestled on the banks is The Slaughters Country Inn where you can enjoy fine food and local ales in a cosy and relaxed fireside setting.

"Beautiful cottage, finished to very standard in a wonderful location"

We had a very comfortable stay at this beautiful cottage, set in a very pretty location. The cottage is finished to a very standard with everything you could need for great time. Sarah was great to deal with and left us complimentary biscuits and milk for our arrival. There is a cosy little courtyard for outdoors drinks, car parking is easy with a reserved space. Loved using the Aga for cooking! We took a great walk to Lower Slaiughter and on to Bourton On The Water. Could not recommend the place more highly.

"Stunning, immaculate cottage"

We absolutely loved our stay at Yew Tree Barn. I had been looking for a cottage in the Cotswolds and was so pleased to find Yew Tree Barn. The pictures do not do it justice. The cottage is absolutely stunning and offers a lot of space for 2 people. Upper Slaughter is beyond beautiful and so peaceful. Sarah who owns the property is lovely, Thankyou so much for our lovely bottle of bubbly for our 10th wedding anniversary. We are already thinking of when we can return.
