The large gardens are open each year (one day on 13 June 2015) for the National Garden Scheme and include an orchard, wildflower meadow with ponds, herbaceous borders and distant views across neighbouring farmland. Well away from any busy roads the property is peaceful and private.

Wolferlow is a tiny hamlet comprising about 20 houses and farms with beautiful countryside and walking immediately on the doorstep. Birdwatching (72 species on the garden list), wildlife (hares, badgers and foxes in the garden) and historic churches abound and short travels can take you to lots of interesting places (more details later).
The Retreat's highlight is the exclusive use of a completely private 9m indoor heated swimming pool and a Finnish sauna. There's also a table tennis table and plenty of room to work out or practice pilates in the pool area. We can even arrange for you to have a personal trainer visit at extra cost by prior arrangement. Immediately outside the pool is a secluded sun terrace and garden for your exclusive use.
The Retreat is accessed by a single flight of 15 stone steps with metal handrail and is therefore, unfortunately, not suitable for wheelchairs. It will be suitable for others with some restricted mobility so long as they can cope with gravel garden paths and the steps.
The use of the swimming pool and sauna is subject to compliance with simple and clear instructions which form part of the booking contract. Copies are available on arrival.
Please note that the Owners (Stuart and Jill) live on-site at Wolferlow House. Mobile phone signal is weak so please always call on the home phone (and answerphone) for bookings.
The Worcestershire region
The Herefordshire / Worcestershire area is a well kept secret offering a wealth of interesting places to visit whilst being right in the depths of beautiful countryside with lots of peace and quiet.
London is a world away but we are actually only 120 miles from the M25. Birmingham is 38 miles. Readily accessible from M5 J5 (Droitwich Spa) & J7 (Worcester South).
Bromyard (6 miles) Home to the Herefordshire Marmalade Festival, The International Town Criers’ Festival, the Scarecrow Festival, Dr Who Museum, Nozzstock Rock Festival, Jazz and Folk Festivals; there’s something for everyone going on here! That’s before you visit Brockhampton National Trust, Bromyard Downs or Bringsty Common.
Tenbury Wells (7 miles) Traditional market town on the River Teme hosting the Mistletoe and Holly market and has many traditional shops on the high street that you won’t find anywhere else. Good food and drink is to be expected when the town is surrounded by farms, hop fields and orchards.
Worcester (15 miles) Visit the magnificent cathedral, catch up with the English Civil War at the Commandery, stroll along the Shambles shopping, explore the River Severn or relax at New Road watching the county cricket.
Ludlow (17 Miles) Architectural gem and gate to the Welsh Marches, Ludlow has a wonderful market, superb restaurants and events and festivals throughout the year. Ludlow Castle dates from 1086 and is surrounded by over 450 listed buildings. Wonderful for foodies!
Great Malvern (18 miles) The Malvern Hills offers some of the best walking in the country before visiting the local tea rooms, shops, spa, theatre, Abbey, Eastnor Castle or the Three Counties Showground for the Spring, Summer and Autumn Garden Shows.
Hereford (20 Miles) Another great cathedral with the Mappa Mundi and the historic chained library, horse racing, traditional black and white buildings, local cider and beer all set in a medieval market city.
The Cotswolds, The Long Mynd, The Black Mountains, Hay-on-Wye, Cheltenham and Stratford are all within reasonable driving distance.
Upper Sapey Golf Course (27 holes) is at the end of our lane, a three day event course even closer, a local gym, riding school and fishing nearby, Shelsley Walsh hillclimb (the oldest motor racing event in the world) two villages away and the Worcestershire Way (36 miles) is on the doorstep. Children may like West Midlands Safari Park and the Severn Valley Railway.
English Heritage look after Witley Court (7 miles), the remains of a vast and rambling palatial mansion with its magnificent grounds and restored fountains. Next door is an amazing Italianate baroque church and its tearooms.
Can I bring my own horse with me? Yes, you can. We have stables and our own paddocks. We also have three horses.

"The perfect pamper getaway!"
If your looking for a relaxing and private break this the place to be.
The retreat is a very cosy warm apartment its clean, classy and well equipped, the views from both side balconys were amazing, the kids loved seeing the horses and Sheeps.
We planned to go in early December so we were expecting it to be cold bt I was surprised how warm it was through the nights, with good quality bedding, even the pull out sofa bed was so comfortable.
While the kids fell asleep on time at 8pm after an exciting day in the pool me and my husband enjoyed the cosy nights watching movies and looking up at the roof windows to see the breath taking clear veiw of the stars.
The owners are ever so polite and welcoming and very respectful.
The pool even has a floor area where you can do a work out, play table tennis the kids loved it all.
As we are a family of faith,I wear hijab(head scarf) so it was important for me to have privacy even with the private pool its not over looked,we was not interrupted once I felt so relaxed and at peace being at the retreat.
we also had a walk around the grounds of the wolferlow house was greeted by the owners daughter who let my daughters walk her cute little dog tangles.
The retreat is well worth every penny, would recommend it to any family looking to get away from the busy life style, next time would like to stay maybe with out the children and take advantage of the walks and countryside and mouth watering menu all made by the owners professional chef daughter.

Wonderful place to stay with equally wonderful hosts and food from their daughter. We wanted complete relaxation in beautiful surroundings and that is exactly what we got. My only criticism would be that we weren't allowed to take their adorable dog Bramble home with us!

Well it's simply WOW! The rural approach set the scene and I just knew it was going to be fabulous....extremely tasteful in every respect, this accommodation in the grounds of Wolferlow House, is a pleasure to stay in.
We wandered around the beautiful gardens, feeling calm and privileged to be there; it's a surreal kind of place. I'll post some pictures.
Swimming up and down the lovely pool, sun streaming in onto the water, was a joy; I don't think there are very many holiday lets that are so quintessentially English (well maybe Welsh!? not sure, lol) and yet have a pool and sauna for your own private use...very special indeed.
Caring, generous of spirit, yet unobtrusive hosts, have created a really warm and welcoming feel to the whole experience..... you cold never be disappointed by staying here.
I can't believe how ridiculously long it's taken me to review this place, sorry to Jill, I must have thought i'd done it at some point. Hope to return in the near future.

"Just the weekend retreat we were looking for."
We really enjoyed our stay at the retreat. Although a little far out for us, I'm glad we chose to spend our weekend at the retreat.
Jill and Stuart were very friendly and made our stay even more comfortable. My son made a little friend. He can't stop talking about Bramble.
Of course the main attraction for me was the swimming pool and sauna, which was very clean and felt comfortable to use.

The owners epitomise hospitality, the Retreat is peaceful, tranquil, has lovely views of the countryside, is beautifully located and thoughtfully equipped. The pool and sauna exceeded our expectations and was better than many hotels we have stayed at, we loved our time at the Retreat, an exceptional location. We availed of the catering on offer which was superb.

"Quiet, luxury hideaway!"
The Retreat is located next to the owners house in a wonderfully quiet and lovely part of the country. The owners are very welcoming and the The Retreat has been very well fitted out to make it a lovely place to stay. Having sole use of the pool was wonderful. There are lovely dog walks from the door and so nice to have somewhere that welcomes dogs. Thank you, hope to stay again!

"Amazing host in a perfect retreat."
Amazing host in a perfect retreat.
The apartment is very clean, tidy, modern and with nice views.
Stuart and Jill have gone to much effort with extra touches, such as the sweet scented fresh flowers on the table. Stuart gave us gigantic local cherries that tasted so good. And making a guide to local walks, places to eat, places to visit, maps etc.
The directions to the retreat was very helpful and so accurate.
We loved the swimming pool and the table tennis.
Thank you both for welcoming us to your beautiful retreat apartment and God bless you.
Look forward to meeting you again
