Further details indoors

Sri Lanka is formerly Ceylon - famous for its beautiful hills, beaches and spices. The Dutch, Portuguese and English have all been captivated by the natural appeal of Sri Lanka and rely heavily still on its spices, teas and precious stones.

An abundance of fresh seafood, exotic fruits and vegetables make eating in Sri Lanka a treat, not to mention the fabulous spicy curries and local cuisine. Local artisans are on hand to paint, weave, carve and design for you whether you are interested in art, jewellery or clothes.

The house is perfect for family holidays, that romantic getaway or an action packed surfing destination.

Further details

A lovely tropical or Sri Lankan breakfast is provided daily at a time which suits you. Our caretaker is able to provide advice about the area, local transportation and pick up groceries, freshly caught seafood or other goods.

The Sri Lanka Southern Coast region

The southern beaches of Sri Lanka are famous for their surf and fabulous fishing spots. The house is only moments away from Unawatuna, and ten minutes from Galle by tuc tuc where you can book scuba, surf and or fishing trips.

Unwatuna has often been rated Sri Lanka's #1 beach, famous for its beauty, surf, bird watching and friendly locals.

Sri Lanka is also famous for its precious and semi-precious stones with jewellers available to make pieces on request. Take photos along so you are well prepared if this interests you.

Travelling inland, you can visit a number of very important and lovely temples passing rice paddy fields and tea/cinnamon plantations along the way.

Spa and health facilities are available in a number of the 5*star hotels locally including the Fortress Hotel at Kogalla or the AmanGala in Galle.

"A Great Place to Unwind at the Start of Your Vacation"

A great place to be if you are looking to do nothing but sit on the deck, then walk down the beach for a swim and look at the tide pools and then walk back and sit some more. It's a place to wind… More

"Marley's is just fantastic!"

Marley's is just a dream! The setting is just gorgeous, the staff so lovely and friendly, the food and service supurb and our whole stay just wonderful. Our family learnt so much in our stay and the staff in particular made us very welcome. They couldn't do enough to help us. One side is the beautiful ocean, the other bustling Sri Lankan culture and street scapes. Close to all things of interest and every effort was made so we could experience all the wonders of Sri Lankan culture. We would highly recommend Marley's to anyone.

"Terrific place ideally located as we returned from Australia"

Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay at Marley Beach Villa. It was a fantastic end to a memorable holiday.
What made it even better was the attentiveness of the staff, without being obtrusive, They were all excellent.
Should we have opportunity to return to Sri Lanka I hope we shall be able to contact you again for a further stay at the villa.

"Wonderful little haven in paradise"

We spent nearly 2 weeks at Marley's and enjoyed the experience immensely. The house is beautiful andwas perfect for us, the beach location great and the staff attentive and helpful. We were taken tuk tuk into town and for day trips and by van for an overnight stay to Yala National Park. Seafood we purchased at local stalls was cooked for us for dinner and breakfasts were always delicious - fresh fruit and our favourite buffalo curd with toddy honey. We would highly recommend it for couples or families.

"Noisy road is a nightmare."

This house would be very nice if it wasn't located bang up against the busiest road in Sri Lanka. Buses, lorries, cars and tuc tucs roar by at every hour of the day and night. The first night I c… More

Dear Jo,
I appreciate honest feedback and again, am very sorry you didn't enjoy your time at Marley's. We consistently get great feedback, and a focus of the stay is often the thoughtfulness of the staff, and the stunning location. Guests feel they go above and beyond to make their stay enjoyable, and that the location is unbeatable.

When you initially enquired about the property, I was very clear about its location. This is a busy tourist area - especially over Christmas. I also asked you to speak to previous guests and confirm for yourself it was the right property for you - this was something you did, rather than have the property 'sold' to you.

When you contacted us and said you were unhappy, I also offered you a full refund, providing we could find a replacement booking, and spent over 70 pounds on additional, last minute advertising to try to ensure this. It also was high season, and the least likely time to find casual holiday makers, so unfortunately, the house sat vacant at our busiest time of year.
Again, I am sorry that you didn't enjoy the house. Marleys has rented for over seven years, and overwhelmingly, guests have a great time, with many returning more than once.
We wish you the best,
Martin & Michelle

"A little treasure"

Marley's is a little beach house tucked behind a big wall, just outside Galle in Southern Sri Lanka. The property is only a few years old, and thus very modern with all the mod cons. On high tide the sea comes up to the garden wall, and its just lovely to sit outside, and in fact the house is designed to maximize the sea and views.
