An entire morning can be spent exploring the maze of narrow roadways lined with Dutch and British Colonial era buildings that are still in use, sturdy ramparts overlooking Galle's international cricket stadium, and scattering of shops , art galleries, museums, boutique hotels and cafes.

The Sri Lanka Southern Coast region

Unawatuna is situated on the Western side of Sri Lanka, down towards the Southern tip. Its unique location protects it from exposure to the monsoons that hit the Western and Eastern coasts and offers surf for most of the year.

Unawatuna is a magical beachside village full of cafes, restaurants and shops.

You can sit at tables as the water laps at your feet. Or lie for ours on the sun lounges. Hire boats and kayaks for extra fun.

The house is 10 min from Galle and a two hour trip from Columbo airport.

Unawatuna train station I a couple of minutes from our house.

Galle is a Portugese Fort with beautiful architecture and history.

Galle has even more restaurants and cafes and is a treat for antique hunters.

Unawatuna

Unawatuna was voted one of the best beaches by Lonely Planet. It is protected bay surrounded by shops and restaurants.

Our house is a quiet retreat. Privately located, yet within minutes you are surrounded by the bussle of the village and beach.

Quieter beaches surround the bay area.

Our tuk-tuk driver can take you to wherever you like.

He knows where to get the best coffee and best surf spots.

The house comes with a cook and house keeper, however we are in a very well serviced area so you can eat out as much as you like.

"Incredible home, within close striking distance of divine beaches."

The first thing that struck us, was the warmth of the house help. Nothing was a problem. The home has a practical layout and exquisite design details. Think: colonial type building with high ceilings, bespoke kitchen, chill out areas, and bedrooms that ooze charm.

You will be blown away with the cuisine. Sri-Lankan food in my humble opinion is a step up from their closer neighbor India. Succulent grilled seafood, mouth watering mild curries and delectable tropical fruits.
