The KwaZulu-Natal region

*On the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, 40 Km from Durban and uShaka marine world, Moses Mabhida stadium, North beach and Addington Beach, Umgeni River bird park and much much more.

*Clansthal is a unique residential area set in a coastal conservancy where the coastal forest has not been decimated to make way for development. It is a quiet, unspoilt and peaceful area that is very close to nature and yet, Scottburgh - a thriving tourist resort - is only 3Km away.

*Inland from the coast are rolling sugar cane fields and immediately offshore is the world renowned ALIWAL SHOAL.

*Right on the Indian Ocean where the warm Mozambique current ensures water temperatures remain around 21ºC all year round so swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing etc is entirely comfortable throughout the year.

*Perfect waves for surfing - Greenpoint is the local surfers' paradise - kite boarding, paddle skiing and all other water sports.

*The world renowned ALIWAL SHOAL is directly offshore and is famous for diving and shark viewing. The shoal consists of spectacular hard and soft corals and diverse tropical and subtropical fish. It is considered a “hub” for scuba divers around the world.

*Clansthal has its very own lighthouse - otherwise known as the Greenpoint lighthouse - erected to warn ships of the presence of the Aliwal shoal.

Golf courses abound with the famous Selbourne Golf estate (rated in the top 100 by Golf Digest Magazine) only a few Kms further South.

Local attractions include:

+Croc World Conservation Centre where the late Tony Pooley - at one time the world's leading authority on crocs - had much input. Here one can view the hundreds of Nile Crocodiles that live and breed here.

+Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve with its abundant flora and fauna

+Empisini nature reserve - with its wonderful birdlife - ideal for picnics and walks

+TC Roberston nature reserve - with its 12 Kms of self guided trails.

Further afield - less than an hour's drive away, are all of the attractions of Durban and inland to The Valley of 1000 hills and a little further on one can start on the Midlands Meander.

"the place is a perfect spot."

Just a little renovations towards the furnisher, swimming pool light, etc.. I don't think there can be any reduction to the lizards (even though were part of fun). add some of kitchen utensils. other than that, thumbs up!

"Stunning location about 45 minutes from Durban and a stones throw from the beach."

What a beach it is too - big, clean and quiet enough to feel it's your own, but enough people around to feel safe. For surfing and restaurants there's Scottsburgh beach 5 mins drive away. The villa is very comfortable and well laid out, living room opening out to the pool and bbq area....purpose built bbq is about as good as it gets, it even has its own thatched roof! Large bedrooms that are well spaced out with some on the ground floor, ideal for older guests. Plenty of activities nearby, including countless golf courses and a crocodile farm, enough to keep all ages entertained. Would definitely go back if we went to Durban again.
