Home description
Il Mulino is a bright and spacious ground floor apartment which has been recently and impeccably restored to provide elegant accommodation in a peaceful rural environment. The original building, which dates to around 300 years ago, was a mill house within a small hamlet surrounded by undulating woodland, the private grounds of which now include a swimming pool and tennis court for the use of residents.
With accommodation for four people plus a sofa bed for an additional two, the apartment has two double bedrooms, two bathrooms (one en suite), a kitchen-dining room with direct access to the garden, and a large drawing room, one part of which can be curtained off for the additional sleeping space.
The interior of the apartment has been designed with a sensitive balance of original, natural materials - including exposed beams, stonework and terracotta – and refined, modern furnishings and fittings. The kitchen and bathrooms have been fully equipped to a high standard of quality, and the overall atmosphere is one of space and calm.
Facilities provided include independent gas central heating, washing machine, dishwasher, satellite TV and broadband Internet connection for use with guests’ own laptop. There is no landline phone, but mobile phone coverage is strong.
Thirty per cent of the rental fee is required to be paid to confirm booking, with the balance due 8 weeks before arrival. If booking less than 8 weeks before the beginning of your stay, full payment will be required on confirmation of booking.
Pets may be allowed, but only with the specifit agreement of the owner.

The Umbria region
Mystical, atmospheric Umbria. This is deepest Italy, a land with a historical, spiritual and cultural heritage that can be sensed and witnessed as soon as you leave the main thoroughfares and head into the hills and mountains that dominate its territory.
Its ancient cities of art such as Assisi, Perugia and Spoleto, along with the great artists, craftsmen and saints who animated them, have to vie for attention with the beauty of the natural environment and the fascination of hidden architectural gems that reward the more individually discerning visitor.
Umbria also has plenty to offer the immediate senses, from excellent food and wines to jazz festivals, outdoor sports and activities and, more simply, the unique colour and movement of its everyday life.
Much of Italy’s soul is encapsulated by Umbria, and even a few days here leave a deeply lasting impression.
Umbertide area
The area surrounding Il Mulino is a leafy, cultivated valley nestling among steep, wooded hills on either side of the Tiber river. The largest nearby centre is Umbertide (8 km), a pleasant market town dominated by a 14th Century Castle (Rocca) and offering excellent shopping, amenities and services. More essential provisions are also available at the village of Pierantonio (3 km).
Within a short drive of Il Mulino are many historical and cultural places of interest including the 11th Century Castello di Civitella Ranieri, the gothic Chiesa di San Francesco at Montone and the 12th Century monastery of Montecorona. The area is also rich in high class restaurants and sports and leisure facilities such as horse riding, fishing and golf at the renowned and spectacularly located 18 hole Antognolla golf course.
Major centres of cultural and artistic interest are also within very easy reach, including Perugia (26 km), Assisi (39 km), Gubbio (28 km) and Arezzo (69 km).
How to get there
Il Mulino can be reached in 20-25 minutes by car from Perugia Airport, which has direct flights to London Stansted.
For those arriving at other airports, the E45 dual carriageway provides rapid access to the main motorway network linking the area to Rome in the south and Florence and Pisa in the north.
There is also a train station at 6 kilometres with frequent services into Perugia and beyond, although a car is essential to be able to fully enjoy your stay.
Detailed instructions on how to arrive will be provided on booking.
