Come and unwind at Phinlain cottage in the South Lakes. We provide a relaxing and comfortable home from home for up to four people. For younger visitors, there is a playground to the side of the property. On rainy days, try karting or 10 pin bowling 15 minutes away in Barrow.

Phinlain cottage makes an ideal base for exploring the Lake District from the south, with Coniston water and Lake Winderemere only 10 miles away. The rest of the fells, lakes and lakeland towns such as Windermere, Ambleside, Hawkshead, Grassmere lie to the north.

Phinlain cottage is located just two miles from the cobbled streets of the historic market town of Ulverston, which still holds bi-weekly markets on Thursday and Saturday. For the more adventurous there is a livestock market on Tuesday. Go on, buy a cow.

If you need a sit down after all that try one Ulverston's many cafes pubs and restaurants. Closer to home, enjoy a well-earned drink at the “Wellington”, the CAMRA award-winning pub pub and microbrewery in Loppergarth.

For the very adventurous, the Cumbrian Way begins (or ends) in Ulverston, and the Cumbria Coastal way passes very close to the cottage.

Thank you for such kind comments! We agree it's a great base for the area...and dare I say that it's one of the better locations if it rains? It never rains, of course;)
We hope to welcome you back in the future.

"Everything you need for a comfortable stay in Western Lakes"

Narrow street but I had no problems parking. Stayed 4 days for a family gathering in Barrow, but would happily use as a base for touring. Slight disappointment that the chimney was blocked by birds… More

Thank you for your comments - The cage over the chimney has cured the bird's nest problem for future guests. (sorry to the birds!).
We find the mobile phone signal best in the garden. Also, we now have wifi (installed since this guest review), so messaging is much easier than it was.

"Lovely break away from it all"

4 night stay in this charming cottage. Great base for visiting the local attractions.
Weather not brilliant but this home was beautifully warm. Lovely pub almost
opposite with friendly staff & local drinkers. Cows in the field behind. What more could
you ask for.

Thank you so much for these lovely comments. We love it, too.
