The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family. The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base. Ullswater, with its nine mile stretch of meandering waters, is a haven for walkers, watersports and wildlife and around the lake the picturesque villages offers a welcome break from the great outdoors, with superb tea rooms and historical buildings to explore.
