The Hebrides region

The Isle of Skye is one of the most famous and beautiful islands in the world. It is the biggest island of the Inner Hebrides and lies off the the north-west coast of Scotland. It is famed for it's dramatic mountain scenery, it's hundreds of miles of rugged coastline and it's Gaelic history.

There is so much to do here.....Highland scenery....Scottish wildlife..... sightseeing...... Gaelic Heritage...... and some of the best outdoor activities anywhere. You will be spoiled for choice. It is a magical place drawing visitors back year after year to escape from the pressures of our modern world.

Just a few names evoke what is embedded in Skye's famous culture and heritage.... the Cuillin Mountains, Bonnie Prince Charlie, Flora MacDonald... the list is endless.

Don't be fooled into thinking that Skye is a small island and you can see it all in a day - you can't! Stay for two weeks and you'll have just 'scratched the surface' of what there is to see and do.

Fabulous fresh seafood from crystal-clear waters, Malt Whisky from Talisker Distillery, fine ales from the isle of Skye brewery.... are the taste-buds tingling?

There are sea-plane rides, fast-rib sea expeditions, sea eagles, otters, whale watching, and just about everything possible to excite the bird watcher.

Skye delights for all kinds of holidays... quiet romantic escapes..... activity holidays..... family holidays. There is something here for everyone.

Every year during the first week in August the Skye Highland games draws competitors and watchers to enjoy a timeless spectacle of Highland fun and sport. .... pipe bands...... Highland dancing...... and all manner of field events.

There are many other festivals throughout the year embracing Skye's musical and Gaelic culture..... fiddle & accordion playing.... bagpipe competitions and of course, traditional ceilidhs.

Skye..... a world apart! Enjoy!

Uig, Isle of Skye

Princes Point Villa is situated on the north-eastern peninsula of the isle of Skye - called Trotternish. We are perhaps biased, but believe it to be the most beautiful part of the whole island..... it has everything!

The coastline is simply stunning from the broad sweep of sands at Staffin Bay to the dizzy heights of the famous cliffs at Kilt Rock. There is something to discover along almost every inch of the coastline and nearly all of it can be walked. The Rubha Hunish headland at Duntulm on the very northern tip of Skye is among the most beautiful and dramatic places in the whole of the british Isles. It's also a great place for whale watching!

The 'back-bone' of the peninsula is the Trotternish Ridge which runs from Portree to Duntulm in the north and can be walked for all of it's 20 miles. It is acclaimed as one of the best and most dramatic long walks in Britain. Along the Ridge is the famous rock pinnacle called the 'Old Man of Storr and then above Flodigarry, are the renowned pinnacles of the Quiraing Mountain.... featured in many movies including 'Highlander'.

So, the walking is just wonderful and almost unlimited..... dare we say......better than the Cuillins!

There is so much to do in Trotternish and so many ways to enjoy your Skye holiday. There are fascinating museums, famous Dinosaur finds and footprints, crofting community recreations, ruined castles, deserted mines and villages.... the list is endless and will keep you more than busy.

The two main villages are the ferry port of Uig and the crofting village of Staffin. Both are thriving little communities with pubs, restaurants, wee tea rooms and a warm Highland welcome! The award-winning ales of the Uig brewery are never far away.

You can hide away on deserted beaches, watch otters, eagles and dolphins.... take kayak or archery lessons at the Whitewave Outdoor Centre....or just relax in the wonderful peace and quiet that is this timeless and special part of our world.

If you are keen cyclists.... bring your bikes..... it's amazing! Do the circular loop around the 'north end' and over the mountain pass that crosses the ridge between Staffin and Uig.

Come hither..... relax...... and enjoy.

"Absolutely Fabulous!!!!!"

My wife and I spent a very enjoyable week at Princes Point Villa. The property had everything you could want and the owners were very attentive to our needs. The welcoming pack was a great surprise. A bit of coastal isolation yet being only a few miles from a town. It was perfect! The views were stupendous even though it was a bit grey. The layout is spacious and even though it was just the two of us, we could see that it could accommodate a large group easily. I have already been recommending it to friends and colleagues. If you want a holiday home in Skye, any time of the year, this is the place!

Hello Drew & Brenda. Thank you for your fabulous review of Princes Point Villa. We are delighted you loved the house and had a good relaxing holiday on Skye. Keep up the recommendations (thank you) and please think about a return visit... we'd love to see you again. Drew, perhaps you'll think about joining me on my 2015 lecture tour... " Washing Lines of the world". My very best regards to you both, Andy.

"Best holiday home yet"

One of the best holiday properties we have stayed in. Beautifully decorated, well equipped, clear stress free instructions and very friendly and helpful owners. Not intrusive but available if needed. Location was ideal for exploring Skye and the recommendations for places to eat were spot on. Highly recommended.

"Perfect for mixed group; spacious, well equipped fantastic views"

Truly wonderful rental property; spacious, spotlessly clean, fantastic position with sea views with every gadget / kitchen appliance / barabecue accessory you could wish for! Andy is an excellent host - the booking was swift and simple. The price advertised was the price you pay unlike a recent booking I made in the South West on Owner's direct where additional payments were required for linen, dog staying, cleaning, deposit, electricty... The price for Princes Point was excellent value for money and fully inclusive (indeed the spare linen cupboard in Princes Point could rival John Lewis' stock!). A short phonecall from Andy 2 days before arrival was appreciated to detail driving instructions and key arrangements. Fresh bread and biscuits were a nice welcome gift. Our group consisted of a couple, 15 year old boy, single lady and a well behaved dog. The separate utility room with washing / drying facilities is excellent for walkers to dry off the kit after a long day on the Trotternish Peninsula (only 15 mins drive) or a harder day on the Cuillens (40 mins drive). The separate "adult" lounge with a fantastic range of OS maps / walking books / Skye historical material (and view) allowed the teenager to play on the playstation in the games / family room down stairs in blissful isolation! Very easy to find the property, would not think of staying anywhere else in northern Skye - you will not be disappointed. Book.

Hello Suzanne. Many thanks for your kind and generous review of Princes Point Villa. We are delighted that you all enjoyed the Villa and had a great time on Skye. I think you've 'hit the nail on the head' with your review.... isn't it wonderful for everyone to find a space to relax in. Being able to 'escape' not only to Skye, but within your chosen holiday home is indeed a treat. Do come and visit us again. We can't promise a fly-past by the Red Arrows, but 'Buzz' the resident buzzard is a good second. My thanks & best regards to you all, Andy. Andrew Butler, Skye Holiday Rentals.

We stayed at Princes Point Villa in June. The house was fantastic and situated with the most beautiful views and sunsets. The house is spacious and done to a high standard. It was very comfortable and well stocked. We couldn't get our daughter out of the garden - she had a great time playing.

"our holiday in a very special peaceful place"

On arrival after a quick phone call to Andy b he quickly made us feel at ease and at home, the welcome pack including the wine was a loverly surprise, just what we needed after a long drive from sttafordshire, shortly after Andy number 2 arrived with a very warm welcome and reassured us he was only a phone call away if needed.
The service we recieved was excellent,Princes villa is a stunning property ,really well equipped and maintained with every thing you might need in the kitchen. The villa is very clean has beautiful art work is very comfortable and homely.
The location is in beautiful suroundings with stunning veiws but is only 3 miles from Uig with regular ferries to the outer Hebrides, also Portree is only a 20 miuites to replenish food and drink also has other ammienities including restaurants and gift shops not forgetting a boat trip to see the sea eagle.
We loved the tranquility and stunning sunsets, the luxury of the villa with every little thing thought of,even down to spices, salt pepper e.t.c. the quality of the equipment in the kitchen is first class.
We are realy looking forward to our return visit.

Hi Paul & Annette and greetings from the sunny Isle of Skye! Many thanks for your lovely review; we are delighted that you enjoyed your time at the Villa. We are looking forward to you returning to us next year and bringing us sunbathing weather again. Best regards Andy.
