About the home

This lovely old croft is situated in a small, charming village called Tvetaryd; a village entirely without modern architecture. The house is set back from the road and the rest of the village, in a secluded and relaxing location. The village lies 800 metres from lake Åsnen's National Park, which has beautiful surroundings and a rich wildlife.

The usage of a boat is included in the rent, with access to great fishing and swimming. An outboard boat engine is available to rent. A popular and scenic biking route around lake Åsnen is very close by. Bicycles of different sizes are also included in the rent.

The house has a large garden with stone walls, and is surrounded by beech forest. The garden is very child-friendly, and can offer activities such as football and badminton.

Inside the house, you will find a well preserved interior in the traditional Swedish style, along with the comforts of modern life, such as a TV and DVD-player.

A modern stove, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker etc, are all included. Unusually for small houses on the countryside, a large water heater can without problem accommodate the showering and washing needs of a whole family. A vented and smell-free composting toilet is installed.

In total there are 6 beds and one pull-out sofa. There are 2 larger beds in a separate bedroom, 4 beds in bunk beds, and the pull-out sofa in the living room.

The cottage is rented from 14.00 on Saturday until 12.00 the following Saturday.

The Gotaland / Smaland region

Småland, the region round Växjö, is notable among the provinces of Sweden for its numerous lakes. The uplands in the northern part of the region slope down towards the south and southwest and give way to a plain. Here begins the "endless forest" celebrated in so many Swedish songs. The landscape of Småland is patterned by the innumerable rocky hills, smoothed and rounded by Ice Age glaciers, interspersed with shallow lakes and peat-bogs.

The Tvetaryd area

Tvetaryd is a village which has a history going back well over 1,000 years. Its name comes from the viking age, but archeological evidence suggests a much longer history. Yet, the village appears to always have been about as small as it is today, with about 20 inhabitants. On the shore of lake Åsnen, Tvetaryd is in a beautiful location.

Småland 's Blue treasure lake Åsnen is special, with a multitude of islands that along with the bays offer some 700 kilometers of beaches. For fishermen, pike lie waiting under the surface and canoeists will find their Mecca along a 120 kilometer long canoe trail. High in the sky glide eagles and ospreys. A cycle tour provides nature and culture. Enjoy airy beech forests, colourful fruit trees and local delicacies along the way.

Das Cottage ist sehr schön in einer Waldlichtung gelegen, ca. 10 Gehminuten vom See entfernt. Es ist sehr gut ausgestattet - man kann komfortabel zu sechst dort wohnen. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich, mein Email- Kontakt Jacop beantwortete prompt jegliche Fragen zur Unterkunft und öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln. Seine Mutter Marie-Louise wohnt in der Nachbarschaft und war bei Fragen immer hilfsbereit zur Stelle und fuhr uns zu guter Letzt sogar zum Bahnhof ins 25km entfernte Alvesta, weil wir sonst unseren Zug versäumt hätten :)
