About the home

Turunç is often called the Pearl of the Aegean and is a charming fishing village. It has remained fairly untouched by the impact of mass tourism and is a quiet and friendly place to spend your holiday. The beach has clear blue water and is the proud holder of a Blue Flag Award. Villa Zambak is just ten minutes walk away from this beach and also offers the use of the large swimming pool and gardens on the complex.

Villa Zambak is well equipped and is perfect for family holidays, with three bedrooms (twin, double and triple rooms) each of which has a private balcony from which to enjoy the lovely views. The main street of the village with a wide choice of restaurants and bars is less than ten minutes walk away.

It is the ideal place to relax, unwind and recharge your batteries.

The open plan ground floor has a well equipped kitchen area with an oven, dishwasher and the essential large fridge freezer.

Formal dining for six is available around a large glass topped dining table.

There is plenty of relaxed seating for you to chill out and watch a dvd or two.

The first floor has a twin bedroom and a good sized double bedroom. A large bathroom with a corner shower cabinet is shared by these rooms. Each bedroom has fitted wardrobes as well as additional drawer space and a wall mirror.

The landing on this floor has cupboards housing the washing machine.

The top floor consists of a huge bedroom with three single beds. There is also a bathroom, again with a corner shower.

All bedrooms have private balconies and are fitted with air conditioning.

The complex consists of ten houses and they form an "L" shape to frame the oval swimming pool. Planted gardens surround the pool and the perimeter walls are built from local stone.

The villa has four sunbeds with cushions, as well as a sun umbrella for guests to use.

The complex is a ten minute walk from the beach and slightly less to the main street of Turunc. It is a level walk - no great slopes involved. The nearest shop and bar is four to five minutes walk away.

* Pool is usually open from the start of May to the end of October.

* A Welcome Pack is available on your arrival and we tailor the contents to your arrival time. For example, a late night arrival will mean that you have a Breakfast Pack, whilst a daytime arrival will mean an Afternoon Tea Pack.

* An English speaking representative will be available for you 24 hours a day.

* Money exchange can be arranged (it is a better rate of exchange in Turkey than in the UK).

* Airport transfers can be arranged from Dalaman, Bodrum or Izmir Airports.

* The changeover day for the apartment is flexible as there are daily flights to Dalaman during the season.

* The villa is cleaned ready for your arrival and the end of stay clean (to prepare for the next guests) is also included in your rental charge. Any additional cleaning is not included and we ask that you arrange for any mid-stay cleans prior to your arrival. The cost is £35 for a full clean and laundry change (all bedding and house towels will be changed). This charge can be added to your rental fee and must be paid for before your arrival in Turunc.

* A travel cot can be rented for £10 per week whilst a basic high chair can be provided free of charge.

Conditions

A non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total holiday rental charge is required to secure your booking.

The balance of the holiday is due four weeks before your arrival date. At the same time we also require a breakage/damage Security Deposit of £100. This is returned to you in the week after your holiday, once there has been a satisfactory inspection of the holiday accommodation.

Whilst house towels are provided, these are not to be used on the beach or around the pool. Please bring your own beach towels with you for use in these areas.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The wealth of archaeology in Turkey is almost embarrassing with its abundance of Greek, Roman, Lycian, Carian and Ottoman sites. The best known of these is Ephesus (called Efes in Turkey). Day trips to Efes can be booked from Turunç and the trip is usually combined with a visit to the final home of The Virgin Mary.

The small Lycian settlement of Amos is near to Turunç and it has a small amphitheatre and a temple to explore (but you'll need good sturdy shoes as it is overgrown). The reward for your perseverance is the wonderful view over the bay out towards Marmaris and Dalyan and of the wide sweeping bay of Kumlubuk to the south.

If ancient history isn't your thing, then there is a small water park in Marmaris which offers a fun family day out. Although to be fair, when we visited the park the "grown-ups" probably enjoyed it more than the children! Trips around the Bozburun Peninsula can be taken in a jeep, which gives you the chance to have fun as you watch the scenery go by.

The Holy Muslim month of Ramazan (known as Ramadan in the UK) will be from 11th August to 9th September. From the 9th September there is a three day period of celebration and feasting, known as Seker Bayram (or Sugar/Sweet Holiday). It is a great time to be in Turkey to experience the renowned Turkish hospitality at its best.

The Turunc area

Turunç village is one of the best kept secrets along the Aegean coast. It is in a stunningly beautiful bay - surrounded on one side by pine forested mountains - and on the other side by the clear blue waters of the Aegean Sea.

The village has been welcoming visitors for the last 20 years and there are many people who return year after year to experience the warmth and hospitality of the Turkish people.

The weather in Turunç is warm and sunny from the end of March until the end of November. In the high summer the temperatures are hot and perfect for sun worshippers. The beach is a mixture of sand and shingle and has a gentle rake, making it ideal for children. The sea is amazingly clear and Turunç is the proud holder of the Blue Flag Award for maintaining and promoting beach and sea cleanliness.

If you wish to be more active than just sunbathing on your holiday, then there are many watersports available along the beach. From water skiing to the banana boat! Lunch can be taken at one of the many beachside restaurants and bars.

Eating out in Turunç is a pleasure when there are so many restaurants to choose from. Many offer traditional Turkish food such as mezes and kebabs, with perhaps some baklava and Turkish coffee to finish! The prices vary with the style of restaurant - from the cheap and cheerful to the more up market and formal. Locally caught fish is aways available on the menu.

The nightlife is based around the bars. Some of these have dancing until the small hours for those with energy after a hard day on the beach.

There are plenty of day trips to visit the surrounding area and boat trips can be taken to explore along the beautiful coast. These can be booked from several of the tour operators on the main street, but our favourite is Green Idyma Travel Agency.

If you feel like some raunchier nightlife then Marmaris and Içmeler are just a 40 minute bus ride away. These bigger towns also have more choice for shopping and bargain hunting amongst the markets.

The nearest airport to Villa Zambak is Dalaman.

We can arrange private transfers for you and your party from just 250 Turkish Lira (roughly £100) for a return journey for up to four people. For five or six people the cost rises to 300 Turkish Lira (roughly £120).

The transfer takes between 90-110 minutes depending on the time of day and the traffic! All transfers are in air conditioned vehicles and the time of your flight arrival is immaterial - if you get to Dalaman - we'll pick you up!

“An absolutely fantastic holiday, best apartment and service we've ever had” Our holiday in Turunc and stay at Villa Zambak was the best holiday we've had. The town is lovely and the apartment is simply staggering. It is clean, modern, generous in space with all the mod cons including dishwasher, washing machine, iron, satelitte TV and DVD. Soaps, detergents, dishwasher tablets, loo rolls, washing up cloths and towels and even beach towels are all provided. The apartment is set in a quiet location with stunning views of the surrounding hills and mountains. The only noise is from the crickets at night and the occasional cockeral. The service offered by Debbie and Jimmy is absolutely top class, second to none. When we arrived at the airport, we were met and transferred to the apartment. This had all been arranged by Debbie, the transfer was in a modern mini bus with air conditioning, everything was really smooth and uncomplicated. When we arrived at the apartment we were greeted with fresh bread, fruit, cold soft drinks, milk, butter and other essentials - this was unexpected but what a lovely surprise. The pool is just a few steps from the apartment's terrace and what a lovely pool it is, we were often the only ones in it. Jimmy and Debbie cleaned the apartment every week (we stayed 3 weeks) and were always available by phone, text or in person to answer questions or provide advice, they never got 'under our feet' and were always discreet and inconspicous, leaving us to enjoy our holiday. I'm sure we will return and anyone booking at Zambak will not be disappointed.

“Spacious, comfortable villa in beautiful resort” We had a wonderful, relaxing holiday at Villa Zambak. The villa was equipped with everything we needed, even including beach towels, and nothing was too much trouble for Debbie and Jimmy who manage the property. The pool and surrounds were well maintained and never too crowded. We had been to Turunc before and knew it was a great destination for people who want a relatively quiet holiday, but still with a great choice of shops, restaurants and bars. It's a beautiful resort: swimming and beach are great and there are some good value excursions - we recommend the trips to Dalyan and the five bays.

“Everything excellent in every way!” I have been going to Turunc for the past six years because, quite simply, I just love it! This was our second stay at Villa Zambak and although everywhere we've stayed in Turunc has been really nice, this villa tops the lot. It is situated at the back of Turunc and is only a really pleasant ten minute walk away from the village. It's really spacious with three nice sized bedrooms, one of them large enough to hold three single beds, all with their own balcony. It is really well equipped with everything you could possibly need. It has a wonderful large swimming pool surrounded by pretty shrubs & banana trees which is checked & maintained daily. The couple who manage this property, Debbie & Jimmy, are amazing. The villa is spotlessly clean, a welcome pack is waiting for you on arrival with everything you need to get you started. A large container of water is also provided and when it runs out you just text Debbie & a new one is delivered to your door within the hour, if not sooner! They will also arrange your transfer if required. Nothing is too much trouble for them. We were unfortunately involved in the Aegean Flights (Holidays4U) fiasco in August which meant that we weren't able to travel on our original dates but with their help & advice we managed between us to make it all come right in the end. Thank you Debbie, Jimmy & Villa Zambak for a wonderful holiday as always! Response: Thank you for your kind words. We try our best to provide a few extras (like the Welcome Pack and water delivery service) to make our guests' holiday a relaxing one and it is nice to know that it is appreciated.
