The North West Italy region
Bigger and more diverse then anywhere else on the Italian mainland, Piedmont is known not only
as a region rich in cuisine and rich in culture but also the kind of rich that got carried down from
the uber-rich Savoy Rulers and their famous baroque and opulent Savoy Residences. Traditional
modern day Piedmontese are gastronomically obsessed, overly blessed by scenery and culturally
elite. With its mountains, castles and vineyard covered hills, Piedmont's magical landscape has
always been one of the region's greatest attractions and now, its magnificently restored grand
palaces and noble mansions house 40 outstanding museums. Intriguing and romantic, the old
medieval routes, fortresses and castles, great lakes and rolling vine-covered hills are all located
close enough for about a one hour drive from the center of the region.
Piedmont is home to the Slow Food Movement, a now global
organization founded in the small town of Bra. Heralded as the “cure” for a distressingly fastfood
world, slow food promotes the sanctity of taste, taste education and food preservation with
fairs, events and educational programs and also produces food and wine guides. The new
University of Gastronomy, now in its first session, is the only of its kind, focusing its elite
curricula on food education, not cooking or culinary skills.

which are international. Intercontinental links are provided through Malpensa 2000, one of
Europe's largest hubs with easy connections from Paris, London and the United States.
Malpensa 2000 Airport - Milan
Malpensa is a popular arrival point for U.S. passengers, with direct service from Aer Lingus,
Aeroflot, Air Canada, Air China, Air Europa, Air France, Air Malta, Air One, Alitalia, American

Airways, Portugalia Airlines, Qatar Airways, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines,
Turkish Airlines, United Airlines. Ryanair also provides service from London.
Six different motorways connect Torino to major European cities: Milan in 60 minutes, Genoa in
90, Nice and Geneva in two and a half hours, Lyon in three hours and Zurich in four. New
projects will enhance road travel from Switzerland with the completion of the Sempione
motorway and from France with the new Mercantour and Colle di Tenda tunnels.
Five railway stations, two of them international, make access easy from all of Italy and bordering
countries: four pairs of high-speed trains travel between Torino and Paris in little more than five
The exclusive Gran Madre suburb, placed between the hill and the Po river, takes is name from the Gran Madre di Dio, or "Great Mother of God" Church. It was built in 1831 to commemorate the return of the Savoy following French occupation in 1814. It's on the side of the bridge on the river dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele I and visible from Via Po. In front of the temple is Piazza Vittorio Veneto, the largest square of Europe.

"No better place to stay in this centered and fashion place of Torino"
You cannot dream a better homeowner than Lina. The appartment is fit out with very good taste and is very convenient. Lina is always toughtful but at the same time very discreet. No better place to stay in this centered and fashion place of Torino, and especially near the Gran Bar, a very torinese and warm caffè.
