Traditional fisherman's house with reed roof, situated in the village of Sf. Georghe, on the Sf. Gheorghe Danube arm in the Danube Delta.

It is a simple house without any luxury, since it is pretty much preserved in the way we bought it 20 years ago from an old fisher's son. The traditional way of its building (mud walls and reed roof) provides a nice low inside temperature during hot days.

There are 3 rooms: 2 big ones to the right and left of the entry hall and a small one in front of the house door. This small room has 2 ancient, short beds which are not listed. One big room has a double bed, cupboard, makeup table, mirror, bench and table, the other one got a modern 2x2 meters bed a table and chairs.

The outhouse is in the back of the house, there is no bathroom. In the front yard there is a tap, a hose and the garden-shower are provided.

The beach is at about 20 min. of walk. If you like, a tractor powered little train brings you to the beach for little money, starting from the center of the village.

Great fishing grounds can also be found around. Boat trips to the nearby pelican reservation can be booked.

During the ANONIMUL independent filmfestival, you can watch movies in the open air cinema.

The Dobrogea region

Situated in the east of Romania, the Danube Delta is a natural reservation. Here the Danube flows through three arms into the Black Sea. The Sf. Gheorghe arm is in the south of the Delta.

The Delta offers good opportunities for photographers, fishers and bird lovers.

Sf. Gheorghe is a fisherman vilage. The wonderful beach, the beautiful nature, the wide fishing grounds, the traditional fish dishes which can be eaten and the independent film festival make the place's popularity grow year by year.

The beach is huge, after some minutes of walking you have a good chance of enjoying an almost lonely beach.

The water of the Black Sea is pretty warm and goes deeper in a very soft curve, so it is pretty suitable for little children.

Some guys sell cold beer at the beach out of a cool-box - since it's a reservation, no buildings are allowed there.

Boat trips can be booked, the price is about 10 euro/person in a group of 5 - if you want to do it, you just have to call one of the mobile phone numbers displayed all around.
