The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region

From breathtaking views of snow capped mountain ranges in winter to lavendar fields and vineyards in summer. This area is totally unspoilt with ancient castles, abbeys, natural springs, gorges and pretty rivers.

With over 300 days of Mediterrenean sunshine Tuchan’s excellent location makes it ideal place to holiday all year round. Nearby Perpignan, Carcassonne, Narbonne, Montpellier and Nimes are beautiful large cities/towns offering lots of culture, historical buildings, great cuisine and shopping. The ski slopes of the Pyrenees come to life in winter with great skiing and après ski. Even the non skier will find plenty to do at the ski resorts.

The area has numerous excellent sandy beaches within 45 mins drive. The quaint seaside town of Collioure and Port Vendres are 55mins drive and are well worth a visit.

Perpignan the closest large town is 40 mins drive. With a pretty river running through the centre, lined with cafe bars its a great place for the gentlemen to sit and have a beer whilst the ladies shop in the wide range of shops.

The nearest ski slopes are about 1.5hrs drive in the Pyenees. Andorra is about 2 hours. The slopes in Les Angles (1 hr 50 mins) are well worth a visit, reasonably priced ski hire and lift passes, free BBQ and coals at the top of the slopes. Breathtaking views and non skiers can get up to the restaurant and BBQ area easily.

The enchanting town of Carcassonne is an hours drive with its fortified village full of cafes, shops and street entertainment. Carcassonne has a music festival in July with many famous UK artists.

Narbonne about 45 mins away is a lovely French town with lots to do including a beach and great activity centre called L'espace de liberty which has an Olympic size pool, slides, ice rink, bowling alley, bar and great self service buffet.

The Spanish border is about 50 minutes away and Barcelona 2.5 hours away. In 2009/10 a TGV train is planned to run from Perpignan to Barcelona taking only 40 mins!

In June/July /Aug Tuchan has some local festivals in the village square.

There are a number of nearby villages which have local weekly markets and most weeks small markets visit Tuchan.

A lovely house and what a wonderful setting. Tastefully restored, retaining charcacter of former times. Spotlessly clean . M Lohan, Dublin, Ireland

Thanks! We had a lazy lovely holiday and made use of the pools every day - the boys fave part! Great wine, we had a local bottle every day, loved the muscat. The house was really comfy and had everything we needed. S Holloway and family Suffolk.
