Set in a quiet location in a cul-de-sac a few minutes stroll from the centre of Paziols, this is the perfect escape. With flowers, eucalyptus and palm trees in its private garden, this house is the ideal place to relax. The layout allows you to sit in the sun or shade all day long, either by the pool or in it!
The picturesque village of Paziols has a shop, restaurant and bar. The location is great for exploring either Aude or Pyrenees-Orientales, and to cater for all tastes and seasons, as mountains, gorges, castles, abbeys, beaches and skiing are within striking distance.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region
Located in the Corbieres Mountains on the border of Aude and Pyrenees-Orientales, this area is famous for its spectacular scenery, unspoilt villages, empty roads, clean rivers, castles, abbeys, gorges and vineyards, vineyards, vineyards.
This region of France has an average of 300 days of sunshine per year and it offers a wide range of activities to keep all the family entertained.
Castles - the ancient and spectacular Cathare Châteaux of Aguilar, Queribus and Peyrepertuse are on your doorstep.
Mediterranean beaches and water parks :- there are 70km of golden sandy beaches stretching from Leucate to the Cote Vermeille. The nearest beaches (45 minutes drive) are as follows :-
- Toreilles. - Canet-en-Rousillon. - Sainte Marie La Mer. - Port Barcares.
Outdoor activities - near Paziols are lovely marked walks and hikes for all abilities along with white water rafting and paragliding for the adventurous. In winter there is good skiing at Font Romeau or Ax Les Thermes which are within a 2-hour drive.
The Pyrenees Mountains and in particular, Villefranche de Conflent, where you can board the famous Yellow Train that meanders through the Pyrénées is only 60 mins from Paziols.
The village is just 88km South east of the ancient walled city of Carcassonne and day trips to Spain are possible (Costa Brava coastline 90 min drive).
For the children, there is the African Safari Park at Sigean which is 50km north of Perpignan (50 minutes from Paziols).
Tuchan / Paziols area
The vibrant town of Perpignan is just 30 minutes drive away, but there is much to do in the village of Paziols itself.
The picturesque village of Paziols has a small shop, restaurant, bar and there are 3 excellent Fitou wine domains. A swim spot has been created on the river (La Prade at Paziols) which offers safe bathing and is within walking distance from the house through the vineyards .
The charming town of Tuchan is only 4km from Paziols and contains all services and amenties :-
- Supermarket, bakery, butchers and newsagent. - Restaurants, bars and cafes. - Bank and post office. - Pharmacy, doctors and dentists. - Garage. - Public swimming pool. - Chateaux Aguilar (Cathare Castle). - Vineyards.
Also, halfway between Paziols and Tuchan there is an area called La Peiriere which has a public swimming pool, a restaurant and bar with salads and snacks, live music on Thursdays/Saturdays.
The countryside around Tuchan and Paziols is beautiful. Two very picturesque towns we would recommend are Cucugnan and Vingrau. These are only 20 minutes from Paziols and offer superb views of the Corbieres Mountains. We would also recommend the abbeys at Lagrasse and Fontfroide (near Narbonne) which are less than 45 minutes away.
Also, not to be missed are the European Prehistoric Centre in Tautavel (15 minutes from Paziols) and the dramatic gorges of Galamus (described by one of our renters as "not for the faint hearted") which is less than one hour from Paziols.
The town of Estagel has all necessary services and also a heated swimming pool which is open all year round.
How to get there
Motorways from all directions service the area: there are international airports at Perpignan, Carcassonne, Montpellier and Toulouse in France as well as Girona and Barcelona in Spain. For example :-
- Fly to Perpignan from London Stansted (Ryanair) and Southampton (Flybe). BMI Baby also flys to Perpignan. Paziols is only 30 minutes drive from Perpignan airport. - Fly to Carcassonne or Girona from Dublin (Ryanair). Paziols is only 1hour30 minutes drive from these airports. - Fly to Toulouse or Barcelona (Easyjet or Jet2 or Aer Lingus). Paziols is only 2hours drive from these airports.
The French Rail TGV or high-speed (which now holds the world rail speed record) trains stop at Toulouse, Narbonne, Perpignan and Carcassonne. The car transport train stops at Narbonne.
