From the owner

Beautiful countryside setting with fantastic countryside views.Based on the Galway /Mayo border Brooklawn, Kilconly, is an ideal holiday home for family or group looking for a base to discover the West of Ireland. The house offers 4 en suite bedrooms, large kitchen/dining/living with range cooker, a living room with an open fire, outside is a large patio with furniture so you can sit outside and enjoy the peace and tranquility of your surroundings. If there are children there is a garden swing to play on in a safe enclosed area.

The surrounding area is a haven for walkers and cyclists as you can set off from the doorstep to explore the local countryside. At night if it is clear the stars are an amazing sight to see, they really do look like diamonds in the sky, and you will definitely see some shooting stars. The market town of Tuam is 8 miles which has a large selection of pubs and restaurants and the villages of Kilconly has a shop which is 2km and Milltown which has a playground and tennis courts and a beautiful river walk with picnic tables is 2km and also has a shop ,petrol station and a selection of Pubs and Restaurants.

A little further afield but an easy drive is Lough Mask, Lough Corrib, Westport Town which has the imposing Croagh Patrick, The stunning Connemara Park, also the City of Galway is Only a 40min drive, your choices will be endless.

FISHING

Hilltop House is an ideal base for fishermen interested in pusuing the famed wild trout and salmon of the great Western Lakes of Corrib, Mask and Carra. Some of the best game fishing in Europe can be experienced on these waters, and the mayfly hatches in particular are legendary. Those more interested in coarse angling will not be disappointed either, with excellent pike fishing also available on the lakes. Ballinrobe is only 24km from the house and is the perfect place to organise a ghillie or boat for any of the Great Lakes. If you are lucky enough to bag a nice keeper or two why not return to Hilltop House, throw the fish onto the barbeque and enjoy the stunning view, as the sun dips behind Croagh Patrick on the Western horizon.

If the weather happens to rule out an outing on the lakes, the Clare River is barely a stones throw from the house and has a healthy stock of sizeable brown trout, as well as plenty of pike. If conditions are right, you might even hook yourself a salmon! A permit from the local angling Club is required for the Clare River. The contact there for trout and salmon fishing is: Ian Callander, Secretary Tuam Anglers Association, Permits can also be obtained from the Rustic Vaults, Vicar Street, Tuam.
