The Cornwall region

Beautiful places, interesting towns, stunning coastline and accesibility. This sums up the Cornish experience in or out of season. Truro is ideally situated to get to everywhere you need to go but at the same time retains some peace and quiet for your stay coupled with handy access to bars, restaurants and shopping.

You could explore the rugged cliffs of the North Coast and walk the coastal path that tin miners originally made on their way to the mines. Equally you could visit the South coast with its inlets, rivers and hideaway pubs. Known for always being a few degrees warmer than the rest of the UK, Cornwall is without exception the ultimate UK holiday destination.

The Eden Project, The Tate Gallery in St Ives, The Summer River Ferries from Truro, The National Maritime Museum in nearby Falmouth. History museums, beaches and fabulous walking are just a few things to consider when coming to Hillside Cottage. Highlights for Summer 2008 include:

Trevithick Day, Saturday 26th April 2008: Held in Camborne, Trevithick Day is an annual celebration of the history and mining heritage of the area and is a festival of free street entertainment with the focus on the inventor, engineer and pioneer.

'Obby 'Oss' Day, Padstow, Thursday 1st May 2008: Celebrations begin in Padstow in the early morning on May Day with the stable doors opening to let the Oss appear onto the narrow streets. Firstly around the harbour crowded with thousands of onlookers.

Fal River Festival 2008, 24th May to 1st June 2008: Now in its 3rd year, the Fal River Festival offers a broad-based selection of events based both on and off the water around the Fal Esturary. Events include art, craft, drama, literature, food, gardens.

Charity Faery Ball at Carnglaze Caverns, Saturday May 24th at 7.30pm: Fancy Dress Night at Carnglaze with a faery twist. Elves, Goblins and other mystical folk welcome to dance the night away. Fantasy Folk will be on site for the night to do Faery Makeovers sprinkled with.

Run to the Sun Surfing Festival, Newquay, 23rd May - 26th May 2008: Run To The Sun has grown into the largest Custom Car and VW Festival in the UK since it's conception seventeen years ago. The event has found its official home at Trevelgue Holiday Park in Newquay.

Royal Cornwall Show, Wadebridge, Thursday 5th June to Saturday 7th June 2008: Originally founded in 1793, the Royal Cornwall Show is today one of the leading agricultural shows in the UK.
